. a 9-year-old boy flown to the hospital with life- threatening injuries after a sledding accident on this hill in north ridge vm. it's story we broke on newsnet5 tonight. we're live at the scene right now. how did this happen? >> reporter: as we continue to follow this awful situation, i'm standing on the road where all of this went down. the vehicle was heading southbound right here behind me. i want to show you the hill right over there. you'll notice a little footprint. that's where the 9-year-old boy was sledding when he went down the hill and connected with that car and that chigs. collision. we have video from earlier this evening. surveyors are out in the area measuring the road and the area where the hill was. they're trying to get more information as the investigation continues. we did mention neighbors having a tough time dealing with this. we caught up with a gentleman who watched all the commotion

take a listen. >> i ran out of the house as quick as possible to help respond and lend a helping hand. before i knew it the local police, fire department, the ems was on scene, kudos to them, they responded faster than one can imagine. >> reporter: kudos to them indeed. we did find out that the child was initially take the to st. john west shore hospital, eventually life lifeflighting the child to metrohealth. the car was been towed away for evidence. . another round of snow squalls is making driving dangerous in some parts of our area tonight. here is a live look at storm tracker 5 in lake county you can see the snow is flying and covered there. mark, we have some lake effect snow warnings in effect.

here is what's new since i joined you last. the advisory in effect for the northern portions of the area, lake county and northern ashtabula county. lake snow warning for ashtabula and wash cow county. in fact, 5 inches of snow in sharden. here is the main bapd band, moving into the sharden area, hamaden, south madison, and rock creek and andover. a couple of other bands try to get involved here. we're not sure if these are going to tilt a little bit, but again, where this squall persists, heavy snow is likely through the overnight tonight. elsewhere it's all about the chill. already 9 degrees, wooster, 7 degrees in mansfield.

see how it blew the whole section of the house off and then fire. we ran to the front of the house and started kicking the door open. >> it's uncheer exactly clear what sparked the fire but the gas company says it was not that gas leak. one of the two men accused of killing 3-year-old major howard is in custody tonight. 23-year-old aaron dunnings was arrested today. the boy was sitting in a car in september when someone shot at car, killing him. police are still looking for 23- year-old donnell lindsey. tonight police are turning up the heat on the search for an accomplice in the robbery of a priest. johnchez phillips was arrested for a string of december robberies in little italy including one where he robbed and pistol whipped a 61-year- old priest. they're working to find the accomplice who helped phillips.

911 call from the father who police say mistook his son for someone breaking into his home wound up shooting him and killing him. miss say the boy had skipped school and snuck back into the home through the basement. his father heard a noise and grabbed a gun. when he opened the basement door the teen scared him and that's when the gun went off. the boy was shot in the neck and later died in the hospital. a terrible story unfolding in pennsylvania tonight as well. >> a 12-year-old girl was shot and killed during an eviction at her apartment in harrisburg. the state cons tabl constable was trying to e-vic the family when he got into a fight with the father when he got into an argument. officials say the constable is completely distraught.

coming in to the euclid area, stretching east to geauga lake. this looks to be some changes here. mother nature trying to build a couple of additional squalls here. winds appear to be shifting from the west to a more northwesterly direction and that could break up the squall and focus it to the south and east. where squalls persist by tomorrow mid-morning and late morning, 6 to 10 inches of snowfall total from the squall event. and your school closings are at highest right here from burton through sharden into jefferson, rock creek and over up toward jefferson. could see some along the lake shore, mentor, painsville, so snow day chances are certainly high in these areas. again, if we look at our snowfall total expectations

you're still looking at an addition apple 3 to 5, 3 -- additional 3 to 5, 3 to 6 inches where squalls persist. look at these temperatures. we have sing single digits temperatures already. the area where we could see some school delays for cold, maybe even some closings due to the cold. generally fremont to norwalk, to medina, canton, wooster, millersburg, inside this circle windchills between minus 10 and 15 tomorrow morning. that could be enough to delay schools tore close a few of them. so -- or close a few of them. so a couple of threats for school delays, for closings tomorrow. keep an eye on good morning cleveland and on our weather app as well. 21 mile per hour winds, 21 degrees, out. your future cast does show warmer air coming in.
