cold front. we'll start to track it in. it's moving across northeast ohio. you can see mentor, just about an hour ago we were seeing nice pavement. out towards where the grass is a nice coating. right now, 26 degrees. that's our high for today. our temperatures will definitely continue to cool off as that cold front starts to slice through this evening. now that moisture already moving out towards richland county. all the way erie, huron, lorain county, north olmsted. overland saying a few flakes flying. on the lighter side for southeastern portions of cuyahoga county. parma getting hit currently. well towards inland locations ashland county. that moisture continues to slice through here. now we do have that lake effect snow watch that starts in

we're forecasting 4 to 6 inches persist. definitely heavier amounts. nick. the upper 20s. by 9:00 tonight we're into the lower teens. that's not factoring in winds. windchills tonight near zero. the way. breaking overnight. family, friends and police in maple heights searching for this missing 10-year-old girl right now. meg shaw joins us live from the police department in maple heights with the details. this girl may be in danger this morning. >> yeah, i just spoke with the captain at the maple heights police department. that 10-year-old girl took off saturday afternoon after having quote, disciplinary problems with her parents. she hopped out of a car sitting in the driveway.

take a look at this photo and description. this is 10-year-old samira lucas. she goes by the nickname miri. family and friends don't know where she may be heading. she was last seen wearing pink jeans and a yellow and gray striped shirt. she is 4'9", weighing around 100 pounds. the captain told me several agencies are back out here working to find her. >> as ramped up right now. we have members from the fbi and ohio bci coming out to assist us with a door to door canvas to the neighborhood at this point. now they're also actively working on a social media search as well. looking for any posts from her or any of her friends. but again, if you know any information you're asked to call maple heights police. that number is 216-662-1234. live in maple heights, meg

>> thank you. keeping us updated on this search. breaking news out of lorain. we've just learned police have captured this man, anthony wayne davis. moments ago at a home in lorain. davis is wanted for fatally shooting a woman at a home on west 7th court. new overnight. cleveland police investigating the shooting near a busy east side intersection. shots were fired just before 1:00 a.m. near the burger king on east 55th near superior. witnesses say one man was wounded and take ton a nearby hospital. police aren't confirming any details yet. we are making calls to get more information to you. we'll keep jew updated on air and on our app as well. a 15-year-old remains in serious condition after a shootout on cleveland's east side as well. it happened friday night near east 40th street. the boy exchanged gunfire with another person and was hit two its. neighbors say they are fed up with the violence. >> we move as soon as problem. >> 15-year-old?

that's so sad. that is so sad. and it scares me. >> cleveland police are searching for the person who shot that boy. anyone with information is asked to give then a call. also new this morning, but still investigating a series of bomb threats that evacuated stores in and around canton. target, walmart and even some convenience stores. a police station as well were on alert. none appeared to be credible after bomb sniffing dusting of snow r with sent in. a few target stores across the country had bomb threats called in recently, including one in california on friday. no word yet if they are at all related. new this morning, right now news channel 5 has learned a second suspect is under arrest in connection with a series of armed robberies in little italy. the latest arrest came one day after that first suspect you see there, johnchez phillips he's behind bars. the men robbed three people last month, including a priest

bedford police are trying to identify this man. he's accused of robbing the pnc bank on west grace friday afternoon just after 2:00. the man demanded cash from the teller but no weapon was seen. if you recognize him call bedford police or the cleveland fbi. a community comes together to cope with the loss of a little boy i canned in a sledding accident. he was sledding with he was hit by a car. he was in critical condition for days but eventually died of his injuries last night. now family and friends gathered at a church to remember the little boy. the accident is still under investigation. but north ridgeville police say no charges will be filed. services are planned for a mother and two girls killed in a home explosion. they will be laid to rest thursday, january 21st at christ community chapel.

make sure you're layering up. here's a great story about youngsters braving that cold. a popular phrase tells us not to judge without walking a mile in another man's shoes. some local teens are doing that and raising money for some of the homeless in the area at the same time. teens from the lakewood congregational church took to the streets and spent the night in card board boxes and will be there till 11:00 this morning asking for donations. they're trying to raise thousands of dollars to help those people. >> they know in the morning they'll get up and go home. they realize that other people don't have that luxury. so they decided they wanted to kind of have the kids experience that and also at the same time do what they can to help solve the homeless problem we have. >> great to see some young people taking inish tiff. last year the homeless awareness sleep you want raised about $4600. the group is trying to surpass that amount this year.

so when you say how do you feel about the republicans, how do you feel about the democratic party, you see the quite negative attitude people have. so those are the individuals that are starting to say well, i'm not a republican or a democrat, i'm an independent. >> 43%, the number of americans who currently identify as political independents according to a recent poll. that is a 7 point difference from 2008. >> i think that 43% number is going to continue to rise. because you can't produce good policy with a bad process. and that's the situation that we're in today. we have to focus on changing the process and make it more democratic we have to transfer power from the parties to the voters. we need a whole set of structural reforms. >> while they speculate that americans will increasingly identify as independents, neither believe voters will

going to be pontsing on east siders -- pouncing on east siders as we head into tuesday afternoon. we do have a lake effect snow watch. it starts tonight all the way into noon monday. we're forecasting potential 4 to 6 inches. this is going to be more towards the east side. maple heights. pepper pike. euclid area. traveling along 271 tonight. definitely going to be getting dicey. lake effect snow warning for lake, geauga, ashtabula county, nearing a foot of accumulation and this is going to be accumulated snow throughout tuesday afternoon. also as this cold front starts to enter here, gusts are miles per hour. a windchill advisory has been put in effect from 11:00 p.m. tonight until monday. we are forecasting our lows. when you factor in the winds, 10 to 15 below. very soon. breaking overnight.

searching for this missing 10- year-old girl right now. meg shaw joins us live from the police department. some new information. we're learning investigators telling you this girl may be in danger this morning. >> yeah, i just spoke with the chief here at the maple heights police department. he told me that missing child took off after having quote, disciplinary problems with her parents. she was last seen around 2:00 yesterday afternoon. so take a look at this photo and description. this is 10-year-old samira lucas. she goes by the nickname mori. she jumped out of her parent's car yesterday afternoon on summit avenue and took off. around 2:00 p.m. she was wearing pink jeans with a yellow striped shirt. the chief said they are now expanding their search.

good morning, everyone. nick, you know how i get when he start to talk about snow. making some snow angels for the next three days across northeast ohio. i'm going to show you this cam tomorrow at noon. probably won't be able to see the pavement out towards ashtabula county. you can see from south to east it's starting to track in here. our temperatures at 27 degrees but it's moving across northeast ohio. and it's pretty much on the light side. we're only forecasting across the board 1 to 3 inches of accumulation.

the snow until we transition into lake effect snow later on tonight. it's more of a concern of the cooler temperatures west winds 15 to 20 miles per hour. that's going to bring our windchills in some locations, inland areas tomorrow morning down to 10 to 15 below. so these winds and cool temperatures are really not playing nice, nick. >> all right. this next store may take the cake for you can't make this up. a city official now from rhode island accused of getting a man to dress up as an elderly woman. the city wanted to promote a new program, local teens helping the elderly shovel snow. the publicity photo op was set up. the young shovelers at the ready. the only thing missing right there, actual senior citizens. a decision was made to set up the senior center's van driver as an elderly woman. lipstick, earrings and a wig. >> dave usually drives the

10:45. republicans making plans for unprecedented convention in cleveland. those visiting the city will have a new way of getting around town. that and more in this morning's democracy 2016. >> reporter: good sunday morning. it's hard to believe six months from tomorrow the republican underway in cleveland. july 18th. it's set to run for four days. i say set because if if the party has learned anything this anything. last why at this week's republican national committee winter meeting the party discussed the possibility of what they would do if no candidate in this crowded field comes to cleveland with enough delegates to win the nomination.

delegates will fill the floor of the q for the start of the republican national convention. for the first time since 1976 though the possibility exists that no candidate coming in will have the majority of their votes. political analyst says that's because of a crowded field made up of the trump lane, the ted cruz social conservative line and the establishment lane. >> if you continue to have this three way split and it goes into primaries and caucuses with that same three way split, each of them getting that chunk of votes into the end of the primary season, you could potentially have no candidate having the required majority of delegates to be the presumed nominee. >> reporter: political experts say the ever so slim possibility exists the convention could go beyond four days while the q is available, downtown hotel rooms, as the head of the new hilton told us won't be. >> we have groups coming in the next week that sells out the convention center and our hoe

democratic national convention will be getting underway the very next week. some said the party will do everything they can before the convention to keep it on time and on script. >> parties whether it's the democrats or republicans want a coalessing, they want unity, they want to bring together the party and the supporters behind one candidate. >> reporter: but they recognize nothing about this year has been predictable so they've got to be prepared for anything. one of the selling points of cleveland for landing the convention was the walkability of downtown and the number of hotels close to the arena. but those coming in to cleveland next year have another way of getting around downtown starting in late may. pedal power. plans are moving forward on the county's new bike share contract that will eventually bring 700 high-tech bikes to downtown cleveland. the county putting up $446,000 to get the project started. you rent them in one location

obama making a statement on the recent events in iran. we want to go live to the white house for a listen. >> they tried to build a bomb covertly, we will catch them. so the bottom line is this. whereas iran was steadily expanding its nuclear program, we've now cut off every single path that iran could have used to build a bomb. whereas it would have taken iran two to three months to break out with enough material to rush to a bop, we've extended that break out time to a year. and with the world's unprecedented inspections and access to iran's program, we'll break out. now that iran's actions have been verified, it can begin to receive relief from certain nuclear sanctions and gain access to its own money that had been frozen. and perhaps most important of

without resorting to another war in the middle east. i want to point out by working with iran on this nuclear deal we were better able to address other issues. when our sailors accidentally strayed into iranian waters, that could have sparked a major incident. some folks here in washington rushed to declare it was the start of another hostage crisis. instead we worked directly with the iranian government and secured the release of our sailors in less than 24 hours. this brings me to a second major development. several americans unjustly detained by iran are finally coming home. -- >> you hear president obama just now announcing new sanctions against iran if for violating prohibitions against missile tests. those five american hostages on their way back from iran to the u.s.
