they are two black men who wore dark clothing. the man's death happened on what was supposed to be a very celebratory day. >> nobody deserves to two in such a way that he did. >> reporter: it's the sights and sounds of remembrance and pain. >> dear god, his children need you right now. lord god, his sties terse and brothers and friends need you. >> 34. he died on his birthday. >> reporter: that's when dontez curlee's life ended. angry. of it all. >> reporter: but curlee's family and police say that's what happened here. it was 4:30 in the afternoon on thursday. >> he was sitting at the bus

the snowfall is historic. washington, d.c. and new york city, you are looking at pictures right now, are among the hardest hit. people there are bracing for a busy week of digging out. here's the latest from the east coast. >> reporter: tonight millions of americans are digging out from all that snow. a bird's-eye view from this drone flying high above baltimore, providing a snapshot of the monstrosity of snow which literally crippled the mid-atlantic. western pennsylvania feeling the effects of the winter wallop as authorities scramble to reopen a section of the pennsylvania turnpike near pittsburgh where hundreds of vehicles were left stranded. new jersey also getting slammed, the major issue flooding. chunks of ice and feet of water lined the street as many homes were submerged underwater. tragedy also striking after a mom and young son are killed by carbon monoxide.

nephew tried and tried, and the paramedics tried and tried. they people worked so hard. >> reporter: in maryland a celebration after a couple was forced to make a special delivery of this healthy seven- pound baby named hannah inside of their home after they were >> happy birthday. >> reporter: and in new york, a ghost town at one of the city's busiest transportation hubbs. penn station almost empty. cancellations seen all over the boards. >> i do not remember it ever looking this empty. in fact, i just took a picture of it myself because i want to remember how empty it is. >> reporter: more than 14,000 flights were canceled as a result of the blizzard. on monday schools will be open here but many schools are closed across the northeast. abc news, new york. >> that storm hit some of the biggest transportation hubbs especially hard, including airports, and they're still not out of the woods just yet.

still stuck waiting for a flight out. >> i want to get out of here and go home. >> i show up to the airport thinking my flight was okay, then the airport was closed. >> already more than 800 flights canceled tomorrow bringing the storm total to 12,000. the storm also bringing business in the nation's capital to a halt. the house will not be in session for the entire week. lawmakers already add short week scheduled before the storm. votes to override the president's veto of obamacare repeal and iran sanctions will be set next month. experts say the blizzard could have an economic impact of $850 million. restaurants, theaters, entertainment venues and some retailers are taking the brunt of the hit but not all experts agree. some believe it won't be that severe because people stocked up in advance of the storm. they shopped on-line and ordered movies since they were all stuck inside this weekend.

cleveland family is homeless tonight. their house was destroyed by fire sparked by a space heater. firefighters say the device was left unattended near curtains. the owners were not home. it was nice to see some sunshine, jason. and you say warmer weather is on the way if. >> absolutely. temperatures now aren't too bad. upper 20s, even some lower 30s at 11:00. a live picture of downtown cleveland. we're fine. we are dry. of course the big snowstorm, we're now going on 24 hours or so since they've seen snow in new york and d.c. so they've had all that time to really clean things up. tomorrow will be certain a slow go there. obviously folks traveling in and out of the big cities across the north and east, still a lot of delays and cancellations as you just saw there in that story, for airlines and traveling in and out of the cities. very difficult even though the snow has stopped now for more than 24 hours. 28 right now in strongville, 30 our current temperature at

we are relatively on the calm side. it's relatively mild. overnight lows will chill off a little bit but then we'll warm up tomorrow and tuesday before another cold front comes in as we head towards the middle of the week. west. we've got comfortable minneapolis, st. louis, temperatures there well into the 20s and 30s. no real big arctic outbreaks for us, at least anytime soon. the snow has pretty much stopped now for almost a day, and that certainly helps. but look at these snowfall historic numbers. jfk broke a record. central park was only .1 away from the biggest snowstorm harrisburg, pennsylvania, reagan national, top five with almost 20 inches of snow. hour by hour for your morning commute. temperatures mainly in the middle 20s. we will see a mix of clouds and sun when the sun does come up. overall relatively light winds. a pretty decent day tomorrow. believe it or not, our next

we'll talk more about that coming up and how long we'll avoid the snow. tonight we are learning more about ohio's epa plan to revoke the license of sebring's water treatment plant operator. the epa issued that statement just a short time ago saying that the plant operator did not do his job and may have even falsified reports. tonight there is a criminal investigation. meantime, residents are worried about lead in the water and lined up today for testing. >> reporter: it is a weekend, but still, the hallway of the sebring school was filled. people waited to get their blood tested for lead. >> because it's all about neurological development and organ development. so those are the growing ages. >> reporter: this three-year- old was among the first to get tested. she's been drinking sebring's water since birth. >> this is a two-minute test. so they will have the results when they lead. >> reporter: she had to rub a solution on her hands, wash them, the and then a finger prick. her mother got the test

she tested negative for lead. if the blood level is more than 5, that person is referred to a doctor for a follow-up. carra and her son grayson were tested, too. she breast feeds the baby. mother and son came back negative, but she's not armed with a list of instructions from the health department. >> they told us we have to wash his bottles with the we're going to do that, then we have to be careful when we're bathing him, just make sure he doesn't get it in his eyes or in his mouth. >> reporter: sebring schools will be closed tomorrow as a precaution as the epa does more water testing. meantime a cleveland church is working to help the residents of flint, michigan. the community is still reeling from the contamination of its water supply. members of the blessed hope missionary baptist church collected more than 53,000 bottles of water this weekend to send to families in flint. if you would like to help, the church is still accepting

members plan to deliver the water on thursday. a former police chief known for his facebook rants is due in court tomorrow. david oliver is expected to enter a plea to criminal it's unclear what charges he faces but they stem from his officer. oliver was initially suspended in 2014 after a complaint was filed against him. he resigned just a short time later. we plan to be in court tomorrow, and we will have well. a canal fulton police officer dislocated his shoulder after crashing his cruiser on the way to an emergency call. the officer lost control of utility pole. you can see the passenger side of the vehicle is caved in. he was trapped inside but was freed just a short time later. investigation. and talk about an unwanted guest, a family's home was heavily damaged after a truck slammed into it.

scene and has been charged. no one was hurt. a kent police officer is on an emotional journey to find a new partner. officer ryan davis was in texas to visit houston's canine academy. the organization is donating a police dog to officer davis after his canine partner of duty. officer davis is expected to bring home his new partner next week, then the two will be in training at canton's canine academy. coming up, new video of the suspected paris attackers. was there a hind message about isis' next target? new chip credit cards are supposed to be safer but where you can use them could make you more vulnerable to fraud. and while the east coast is digging out from an historic snowstorm we're tracking rain.

isis just released some new video of the extremists suspected of carrying out the terror attacks in paris. the 17-minute video shows the extent of the planning that went into the attack which killed 130 people in november. according to a cnn terrorist analyst isis appears to signal in that video that the next target could, in fact, be the united kingdom. right now a manhunt is underway for three you know mates considered armed and dangerous. they broke out of a maximum security jail in santa ana, california friday. the men managed to cut through steel bars in their cell and sneak through pluming tunnels to the roof. they reportedly used sheets to rappel four stories to the ground. there's a reward for information leading to their capture. just days ago we warned you about thieves installing credit card skimmers on gas pumps in mass dope i can't.

or debit card information from swipe it. even if your card has that new reporter john matarese shows us why you are still at risk tonight for fraud. >> reporter: chip cards were launched with lots of fanfare last year, promising safer transactions thanks to that tiny chip on the front, but suddenly it seems credit card skimmers are popping up on gas pumps everywhere, copying our access. what gives? it turns out gas stations and atms have two more years to switch over to chip readers. that gives thieves two more years to try to scam as many customers as they can. so from the "doesn't that stink" file, the slow rollout of emv chip cards. less than half of all stores are using them now. most grocery chains are still asking you to swipe.

security, you will say, doesn't that stink. hopefully by 201 carding fraud will be a thing of the past because atms and gas pumps will no longer have swipe systems. but until then, be very careful. if you need to fill up your tank tomorrow you will find the lowest gas prize inseven years. the national average price dropped 14 cents in the past two weeks to $1.91 a gallon. prices are even lower in our area. we found gas for $1.33 at gas stations in both strongville and berea. but don't get used to it because experts say gas prices will rise again soon because crude oil prices are on the rebound. well, veterans and military spouses can get career advice and help in finding a job tomorrow. quicken loans arena is hosting

2:00 focusing on resumes and networking. nearly 80 employers, all of which have openings, will be there as well. this weekend's winter storm is one of the biggest ever to hit new york city but it was still not big enough to prevent a couple from long island from getting married. the bride and her wedding party had to take the subway after a travel ban meant that this alimo could no longer take them to the church. more than 200 people were invited, and 100 guests did, in fact, brave the blizzard to attend. >> it was absolutely incredible. we partied with a lot of strangers. we were chanting subway wedding. it was a lot of fun. i think our pictures are going to be next level. >> now, the bride was born in the snowstorm, so it is only fitting, of course, that she got married in one, too. jason, there will definitely be stories to tell for years down the road. >> very cool. and the fact that she was born in a snowstorm, and there we have a little wedding. white wedding for sure. don't take pictures outside

the braid is. we had some amazing pictures out of the store. we're going to have those in just a moment in our social spotlight on sunday night. but new technology with the drones gives us different looks into these types of storms. this is the jersey shore. the jersey shore got a foot, foot and a half of snow, and there's a look. obviously this was shot today because the sun came out. notice all the snow on the ground from above. again, they had issues with storm surge, because we had that nor'easter develop with that area of low pressure, and that brought all the water there in on the coast. for us, certainly a different scenario. we were on the north side of the storm. some areas across southeastern ohio saw a little bit of snow but for the most part we were able to really dodge this bullet here, the storm track. it looks pretty good over the next few days to avoid any big- time storms for us. 33 in downtown cleveland at the end of june.

euclid 38. now, there is some warm air to our south and west. this will eventually be the weather player before a cool- off comes. but again not a big-time cool- o. more typical of late february, early march with air that's coming in versus what we would see towards the middle and end of january, because this is historically the coldest time for us statistically. new york to d.c. to philly, good stuff. snow is out, but we've shown new map a couple of times because it is worth showing again. baltimore, washington airport, bwi, 29 inches. 30 inches harrisburg. notice the white lores here. 20, 25 inches. jfk 30 inches. central park incredibly 26.8. the all-time record was 26.9. so they were just short of it. here is your morning commute. no snow in the forecast. should be a-okay heading out and about tomorrow morning. i do think you may need the shades tomorrow, although a few clouds here and there. this is tomorrow morning around 9:00, 10:00.

uneventful throughout much of your day tomorrow. temperatures will rise to near 40. we will have a few more clouds around today versus what we saw -- or i should say tomorrow versus today. then look what happens tomorrow night. look at these temperatures. we're near 40 tomorrow night but we bring in rain showers along, believe it or not, a warm front. so we will stay warm as we head through tuesday morning, then a little bit of a cooling trend during the day tuesday afternoon, and notice a few snow showers are around. they will be light tuesday into wednesday. so this is a pretty tranquil weather pattern for us. upper 20s and low 30s for us right now. windchills not too big of a deal. the winds shouldn't be too bad tonight or tomorrow. so 25 tonight, a few clouds. tomorrow highs in the low 40s. i put "warm" in quotes there because of how chilly it has been. we will take a 42-degree day. seven-day forecast. rain showers late tomorrow, after sunset.

the super bowl game is all 70. today conference championship games, now just two teams left to fight for the vince lombardi trophy. the first game in the afc, broncos hosting the new gand patriots. first quarter, broncos up 7-0. steven jackson with a touchdown run but the pats missed the extra point. second quarter, same score. denver takes a 17-9 lead at the half. fast-forward to the fourth quarter. patriots down by eight with six minutes to go on a 4th and 1. brady finds edelman, but it's a turnover on downs. the pats within two. they go for the two-point conversion. brady looking to edelman, but it's tipped and intercepted at the lain.

the broncos are the afc champs and are headed to the super bowl. in the nfc championship game, arizona cardinals visiting the carolina panthers. gibbs takes it 21 yards to the house for the score. 10-0 panthers. still in the first quarter, same score, cam newton finds corey brown. brown makes the catch, then he makes the safety miss. panthers now up 17-0. two minutes left in the first half on 3rd and goal, cam newton over the pile, breaks the plain, touchdown panthers. panthers making it look easy, going on to win 49-15. they're nfc champions, so it will be the panthers and the broncos in super bowl 50. in cavs news, the team is

suns assistant coach. meanwhile i imagine game one as head coach of the cavs did not go exactly how tyronn lue dreamed it would, last night the cavs losing to the bulls at the q. the team did not seem all that down after the became saying they played hard. the pace of the game definitely faster than they were used to. defense was not the problem. far from it. as for offense, the cavs saying they were put in position to play well. the problem, they were just not hitting shots, shooting just over 37% from the field. >> we gave ourselves a chance offensively and defensively, and it wasn't because we didn't move the ball. we moved the ball, we got to the lane. i missed six or seven layups, i missed three or four wide open shots. it trickled down to everybody else. i think monday we'll be much better, a little more relaxed, get back to our game.
