administrative discipline results against 13 officers and a deadly 2012 police chase. >> six officers will lose their job. another six are suspended. with newschannel 5 investigator it includes michael brelo. >> exonerated the charges in the spring but today he and five other officers learned that they will lose their job. >> we arrived at our conclusions but what was recommended to our office by the review committee. >> michael mcgrath violated orders during the police chase and shooting, the most serious contributing to cross fire. the city began to examine the officer's actions last summer after the criminal trial involving michael brelo ended with his acquittal.

137 shots into tim russell's blue chevy malibu killing him and melissa williams. the massive chase started with a mistake. an officer thought he heard gunfire coming from russell's car. but it was later determined that the vehicle backfired. today cleveland police chief calvin williams says the incident has impacted him and the rest of the department. >> it has gone for a lot of soul searching for all in law enforcement to make sure that we truly do what our mission is and that's to protect and serve. williams says that the officers who were suspended will undergo extensive decided if they will be allowed back on the streets. an attorney says they will absolutely and vigorously declare the decisions today. on your side i'm investigator sara buttonson newschannel 5.

radio traffic and saw demos on how the car chased ended and how many shots were fired and when. homa bash spoke with an expert about how it got out of hand and joins us. >> reporter: the numbers are startling when you hear them. 137 shots in 19 seconds. between 117 and 120 of those fired in just 10.3 seconds. i sat down with police procedure and train experts to rewatch it. one expert says at that point when the chase escalated to an extreme level and with so many officers involved, that number of shots fired and that short period of time is not actually surprising. it is what you would expect when 13 officers are all pulling the trigger at the exact same time. the reason they were shooting they felt threatened and in the back of their mind they heard a radio call go out that an officer was shot.

have those kinds of results. unless you control the amount is going on. we have told you this. but it is worth mentioning, typical police chase policy involves one backup car and a supervisor calling the shots. the reason to keep it under control and avoid what happened in this case. in the newsroom, homa bash, newschannel 5. charges have been dropped against 23-year-old aaron dunning that was arrested in the death of major howard. documents show that aggravated murder charge was dismissed in court today. he was arrested following the shooting of 3-year-old howard that was killed while sitting in a car on east 113th street. police are still looking for another suspect in the case. 23-year-old donnell lindsey. cleveland police are looking into an attempted child luring tonight. the little boy was walking home.

joins us with a story you only see on newschannel 5. the little boy did what he should have done. >> yes, he ran to the public library, the branches are designated as safe places and police are praising that little boy for doing the right thing. >> reporter: at the corner of west 140th and pure in cleveland, on this busy street ... >> shaken up and scared. >> reporter: a little boy was walking home and that's when the police commander says a man and woman in a white car tried to lure the little boy. >> we have a puppy, you want to see it and the man got frightened. >> reporter: what happened next is what any parent would want their child to do. the 10-year-old ran to the cleveland public library for help. the branches were recently

a national program for young people that need safety. >> this is the first time it happened. >> the little boy is a regular at the library and knows the woman that works there. >> he is a good kid and i have never had problems. he is a regular and i never had problems with him before and he is sweet and he keeps to himself. >> cassandra tells me as part of the program she just received training on what to do in an emergency like this. she called police. commander mccourtney told me the car took off. >> there is a sick individual that would attempt to grab a child. a sick sense of humor or attempted abduction so we are trying to identify the vehicle. >> and commander mccartney says there is beefed up patrols and cameras in the area. he suggests finding a safe

and that is really about it. notice the temperatures hovering right around the freezing mark. you want to warm up? guess what, frank and lee? a little taste of december returning to the area coming up. thank you, mark. in the meantime a robbery suspect who hit a pnc bank has been identified. 5 6-year-old mark hampton of maple heights was arrested in connection with that robbery. bedford police say he demanded cash from the teller and took off from the west gray street bank and charged with robbery and is held on $100,000 bond. akron police are looking for information in two shootings and a robbery happened last night. first around one this morning a 19-year-old was shot in the stomach while sitting in his car. he says two men opened the doors and shot him and took off. the victim is listed in serious condition. the second shooting happened shortly after ten last night.

to give up her purse. she was taken to akron general condition. and a man that was delivering food to his girlfriend was assaulted by two suspects with guns. after refusing to get on the ground, one of the suspects held a gun to the back of the victim's head and forced him in the house and they stole the victim's car. it was later found in canton. anyone with information on police. well, cleveland police say a 20-year-old arrested this morning after he stole a car on the west side. a woman who was out walking her dog saw a man riding her bicycle. she followed the suspect in her car and cut him off. when she got out and confronted him, brandon clark began to punch her and took off. clark crashed the car and was arrested. we are following developments out of indiana where several children have been injured in a school bus accident. chris flanagan is tracking the developments.

has been killed in the accident. it happened in lawrence township. northeast section of indianapolis. according to the indianapolis fire department, 25 students were on that bus. you can see it here. two were told have been taken to riley hospital in indianapolis. they are in serious condition. but with non-life-threatening injuries. those two students both ten years old was outside the bus along with the adult killed. of course we will continue to follow the story as it develops. we are also following the developing story out of san diego. it appears that it may have been a false alarm of gunshots fired at a navy hospital there. navy officials say there is no sign of a gunman or a shooting after an initial inspection at the navy medical center in san diego. there had been a report of three gunshots but a navy spokesman says that report came from one single witness. the navy hospital previously

active shooter was reported and people were told to run, hide or fight. i'd like to emphasize that we take all reports seriously and we do a lot of training to help people recognize what they are supposed to do in the event of an active shooting. obvious numerous event that have occurred around the country and throughout the world. we take it very seriously. >> the hospital actually had active shooter training in december. staff there were told that the tactics of run, hide or fight. the base was on lock down for hours as s.w.a.t. team went room to room and led people out of the facility. nci agents were interviewing the person that reported the shot before 8:00 a.m. local time. the person reported hearing three shots in a gym. the lock down has been lifted. frank and lee. still ahead live on 5. the race for the white house heating up.

could be an isolated flurry or sprinkle. i will throw that in the forecast for everyone at least through the midnight. we got a little bit of instability and lake-effect snow coming in off of grand rapids. for us, friday will be mostly cloudy and chilly. current temperatures 42 down and 34 in north royalton and ridgeville checking in at 31. 33, fremont to nor walk, wind chills and winds have been blustery all day. 20, 25, 28 miles per hour. we are still seeing some wind gusts above 20. ashtabula close to 30. we should begin to calm it down a little bit as far the winds go.

jason, what are you talking about today? >> problems in dc and the federal offices in washington d.c. will open up again tomorrow. this after crews spent days cleaning up from this past weekend, big snowstorm. the d. c. area saw upwards have to two feet of snow and one of the top five largest snowfalls ever. depending on where you were. where the monitor came from, as far as snowfall. 17-inches at reagan and many spots in washington d.c. near the government building, near the white house and the capitol, about 22-inches from that's less than harrisburg, pennsylvania and jfk airport. 20 is pretty good. just to give you an idea to compare that to cleveland, so

police are still looking for another suspect in the case, 23- year-old donnell lindsey. indianapolis bus jumped a car killing a father and two children. buses were lined up for dismissal. one of the buses jumped the curb hitting the father and his 7 and 10-year-old children. both expected to be okay. first merit bank has a 170 year history in the akron area but the bank's name will slowly disappear after surprising merger with huntington. >> bob jones is looking into it. what does it mean for customers? >> first merit will change to huntington later this year or the beginning part of next year. some of the branches will be closed. customers will have some discussions to make and some of the employees, they are worried about their future. but i think it is just got

the ohio epa collected more than 100 samples from drinking fountains and spickets at three schools. two samples from mckinley and senior high had above the federal standard of led. the fountains have been unplugged and unusable. se bring's superintendent of water has been suspend denying allegations that he falsified reports of high levels of led in the summer. a major retailer teaming up with beverage company is bringing 6 million bottles of water to the town ten though students. that's enough water to last the rest of the school year. michigan attorney general has
