. good afternoon, i'm mike brookbank in for leon bibb. we start at noon with a news alert. students at mayfield high school are being evacuated after a threat was posted in social media. classes continue under what is called a soft lockdown while police investigated. a full evacuation has been issued. the threat was posted to instagram and viral among students. it said, quote, don't go to school and it listed today's date. and it's a sad day for thousands of wal-mart employees

doors at more than 100 stores. sarah phinney spent the morning at the only location in ohio that is closing on rockside road in bedford. >> reporter: there is not much left inside this bedford wal- mart. in a matter of a few hours, it will close for good. about 300 people work here. the company said that some happen transferred to other locations and -- some will be transferred to other locations and help the rest find other be. >> s. this is only one of 12 wal-mart super centers shutting down across the country, and it's the only one in ohio. bedford city manager said that it will result in a quarter of a million hit to the city's annual budget n. an effort to clear out the inventory, nearly everything inside is 75% off with the exception of electronics, guns, jewelry, and alcohol. the discounts are bringing in a lot of customers. there is quite a few people here right now, even though many of the items are already gone. in bedford, sarah phinney, newschannel 5. and let's get a check on the forecast with meteorologist

>> no, not, mike. and we're looking at plenty of sunshine and there is a live look at our sky cam. a-okay, plenty of sunshine and there is some chill in the air. overall, not bad. we're tracking some snow and that is into the afternoon. cleveland. we'll see the temperatures spike and fall moving through the afternoon. right now, mid- to upper 30s and notice president obama, 35; 40 downtown and 35 in strongsville. the readings running low to mid- 30s and inland again, temperatures in the low 30s. we're not tracking any snow. that will come in the latter part of our afternoon between 4:00 and 10:00 here with the burst of clipper snow through the north and west. that is through southern michigan. once the snow zone moves through, we'll dry things out and cool things off. this is your hour-by-hour.

rule out the rain mixing in south through the afternoon. day today. that is coming up, mike. new at noon, six people are dead after an hours' long stand off with police in virginia. it started when police were called to a chesterpack home to perform a welfare check. when they got there, they found a body. at a home not far away, they found an armed man barricaded inside. after several hours of investigation, police withent to the home to find five people dead, all believed to be related. the man who set fire to a home on west 33rd street last february will spend the next 10 years in prison. 11 people were affected by the fire that spread to two other house. ishmael comacho was sentenced this morning. a neighbor hired him to set the fire. that neighbor and another man charged in the case are awaiting the trial. and funeral services are

began at 11 this morning at cleveland heights. he and his cousin were shot at the archer building on west 9th. the sources connected to the investigation said the shooting was drug-related and the victims and suspects knew each other. and later today, we're getting an update on the court- ordered reform at the cleveland police department. attorneys for the city and justice department will share a progress report this afternoon. they're expected to discuss what deadlines have been met changeed. and ferguson, missouri, concept degree. the justice department releasing a draft of the decree ferguson. as the agreement here in cleveland, it appoints an independent monitor for the police department. last year, an investigation revealed the ferguson p.d. engaged in a pattern of violating the constitutional rights of others.

and right now, two richfield police officers are off the job and simply they want to make sure the shop with financial standards. leave. and? consumer news, huntington bank merritt. the ceo is hoping to keep layoffs to a minimum and said that the akron-beacon journal, their long-term goal is to grow here and adding jobs. the $3.4 billion deal needs to be approved by the federal reserve. the federal trade commission is suing devry university about misleading students about their job prospects after graduation. the agency is taking issue with statistics used in advertisements. they say the ads claiming 90% graduation are deceptive. devry has four campuses in ohio, including one in seven hills.

trend over the next few hours. it's through the latter part of the afternoon and things are getting tricky. forty in downtown cleveland. the temperatures across the region for the most part we're running in the upper 30s and lower 40s. 39 you can rently at hopkins airport as we head south temperatures again in the mid- 30s. overall this is not too bad this time of the year. closer to home and not much happening here. we're dry. so, our next threat of snow is this afternoon. we have a clipper system coming in and there it is there. fromicalama zoo -- from kalamazoo and into detroit, sliding down south and east. the clouds will lower and we'll lose the sunshine and start to see light snow any time after 3 or 4 this afternoon. and there it is, the snow zone in the area in red. behind the front, the clipper is cooler air for tonight and tomorrow. and tomorrow, a hard time out of the lower 30s. and notice this icon here.

in there and that is because temperatures could be warm enough for a little bit of rain to mix in with the snow and when it falls. accumulations on the light side. take a look hour-by-hour and this is 2:30. notice we start to cloud things up into the west. across the east, we're still dry and then moving through the afternoon this is 4:30. light snow moving in and once the snow gets here around 6, 6:30, i think that could mean some visibility issues. i don't suspect this is going to stick and cause some big time problems for your evening commute, but it will be out there flying around. keep that in mind. by 8:30 tonight, we have pockets of snow and this is about a six-hour thing. by 11:30, things begin to wind down and move into the east. we get more lake affect morning. total snowfall accumulation forecast, not that impressive. seeing the area in blue and

and this can sigh one to two inches of snow between now and then and looking at a light dusting in the light blue. through the day tomorrow, a little bit of lake affect snow can develop and in through lake county, geauga and ashtabula and current temperatures in the mid- to upper 30s, the winds are breezy, though, today and high temperatures in the upper 30s and that clipper snow, a trace up to two inches. areas north and east of cleveland can see more than, that and two to four by lunchtime tomorrow. breezy and cold. that will leave us tomorrow morning and we'll dry things out on friday afternoon and why it will be chilly friday night. look at the highs for saturday and sunday. fortys, 50s with rain shower chances and looks like we have

until wednesday or thursday of next week. so, a relatively typically warm end of january into early february with limited amounts of snow once we get through four:00, the now cleveland we're going to track that snow for you and not own on the radar but out and about on the ncx.
