welcome to this saturday edition of good morning i'm nick foley. we talked about that weekend warm up. now. >> we are below average and today if you are cold, winter fan you know i'm not excited about this weather because it's dangerous wind chimps that are out there. if you are out and about and have exposed skin, ten to 20 minutes. >> doesn't take long. >> frost bite potential. you can see visibility low across the greater cleveland area. lake effect snow and that will continue throughout the afternoon. also wind, they are not playing nice. 15 to 20 miles an hour out of the northwest. hopefully going to start to go down into the evening.

eight degrees at the airport. millersburg at five. when you factor in the weekends, earlier this morning we got to about 17 below out toward wayne county. into the -- our temperatures not warming up any time soon due to those winds and that cooler air. that's that well defined, that's the cold front. that's the second front from last night. it's starting to sweep across the area. it'll continue to cool off. that's why a wind chill advisory is in effect until ten sunday. this morning i'm talking about some of the coldest temperatures of the season but by tomorrow this time i'm going to say the same thing as tonight. we are down to the single digits but most areas will be down to 15, nearly 20 below.

throughout the day. meg shaw is in storm tracker 5. >> reporter: i will tell you what. the roads are looking really great todayf. you are going out last night around six or seven you know how much snow we got the roads were really bad. we are on bagley road and they everything is clear. the one thing we want to talk temperatures. the wind can belowing this snow across the highway and across the road. if you are heading out this morning make sure that you are keeping that in mind as you are getting on the roads, especially the side roads that may not be cleared as much as the main roads. we are in downtown. all of these roads look really great. i mentioned if you are going out make sure you bundle up. it's so cold. even just walking the house to the car or garage. it's so cold. really make sure you are

the last thing you want to happen is to get frost bite. if your skin is exposed to this weather for about 20 minutes that frost bite can set in. make sure that you are keeping that many mind. it's two hand -- two hands on the wheel. they can be dangerous in temperatures and wind. we will check back in with you soon. the roads looking good but still be careful out there. as the freezing chill takes ahold of northeast ohio one group working this morning to prevent a deadly situation in this brutal cold. we spoke to the people braving the temperatures to make sure others are safe. >> reporter: the winter weather issued an extreme punch tonight. starting with near white out conditions is and snow fall at seven. lake good drivers straining to see what was in front of them.

good morning. waking up to the chill that's in the air. also flurry that are flying across downtown cleveland. lake effect snow will be an issue throughout your afternoon. could see another four to six inches where squalls persist. effect. another possible three to six inches in that area. also across the board i'm more concerned today and tonight the cold, the wind, the wind chill. when you factor in the northwest winds to about 15 to 25 miles an hour it's not helping our daytime highs. we will barely be out of the single digits for most locations. 12 degrees out toward richland. clouds will be in effect. i do hope for a little bit of sun going into your midmorning. either you will see a little bit of snow or sunshine

welcome back. new details about the machete attack ott a columbus restaurant. information connected to the registration of the suspect led them to call in the fbi. it triggered an an alert that required bring in the terrorism task force. >> it was a big long knife. the other knife was a little bitl darker but you could see two, two knives the whole time. >> the owner of the restaurant said he believes the man targeted his establishment because he is israeli. it's to soon to draw a conclusion. the suspect was shot and killed by police. police saying the shooting at a glendalea arizona high school is a murder suicide. police officers found a suicide note. the teens both 15 have been

another school shooting back in the news. 17 years after columbine . the mother of dillon klebold is talking about him. he and eric harris killed 12 students and a teacher before killing themselves. in an interview the mother said she rationalized away warning signs out of love for her son. >> i had all the illusions that dverything was okay because my love for him was so strong. >> she adds not a day goes by she doesn't think the victims and far victims and their families but what do the survivors feel about her interview? we will hear from them. plans to build the nexus pipeline are moving ahead. the group behind the pipeline has submitted it's final plans

the temperatures, down to eight degrees at the airport. look at that. richland, ashland county. you are at two degrees but that's not even factoring in the northwest winds. 15 to 20 miles an hour. i mean that changes the whole game. wayne county 14 below this morning at the airport. these are the temperatures, what it feels like on your skin and face. i need you to layer up. once but twice throughout the rest of the weekend as the temperatures continue to be below zero for wind chills. we won't be stepping out of that. taking a look at the power of five. you can see that snow that's flowing out toward northwest portions of -- into -- if you are out toward north ridgeville, avon lake you are seeing flurries this morning. that will continue to rev up as

stick around into about nine. lake effect snow. definitely in effect. pretty quiet morning. i know many people are doing the undy run this morning i don't recommend that. if you are out there, try to bundle up as much as you can. taking a look at our future cast. you can see -- they are interest they are under that lake effect snow advisory. going to be getting hit hard throughout the afternoon. you can see out toward mansfield, wayne county, then it start ises to see a little bit of moisture moving in. everybody take a look here at my timestamp here. that moisture starts to move in here. we are forecasting potential lake, other four to six inches, that warning is involved but this will be an opportunity for everybody to see a few flakes flying throughout the afternoon.

windy weather still in effect. 15 to 25 miles an hour. you thought it was cold last night? let's talk about tonight. 1 degree. we are expecting wind chills 15 to 20 below. this is not a game here. these are dangerous wind chills. if you are out and about for over 20 minutes potential for frost bite. make sure you are layered up. i know its valentine weekend. try to do some indoor activities. we are going to see that sun sunday. 18 degrees and then monday, tuesday, wednesday, we are still tracking snow but our highs return to 37. let me get out of the way if you are over the cold here it comes. friday, 48. that is like a heat wave. >> yeah. one degree overnight. that's beyond silly. thank you. no games this weekend but it's still a huge couple of daysments it is all-star

storm tracker 5 is out on the roads and keeping an eye on the elements for you. temperatures dangerously low right now. welcome to this start edition of good morning cleveland. we have team cover coverage of the winter weather. meg shaw is in storm tracker 5 and will have a report on how it looks in just moments. first we have a check on the bitter cold forecast. >> good morning the. morning. the wind chill some of the coldest temperatures of the season so far. this is what our temperatures are across the board. we are in the single digits across the area. mansfield good morning. are you at a single degree but that is not even factoring in

we are in negative digit territory across the board. also i'm tracking on the power of five some lake effect snow nah is moving across the area. it's not just in the primary snow belt. you can see out toward southern portions, all the way into medina. if you are travel agriculture long 71, all the way into 77 south and into the lodi area. you are see age few flakes. from twins burg, pepper pike. these are just flurries. it's not heavy accumulation but this will be the case throughout the afternoon. we do still have that lake effect snow advisory until four warning. now where squalsls persist you could see another three to six across the board that wind

as we saw last night we had that squall come in and the snow come down. these bitter cold temperatures and the wind. talk about. this wind blowing snow across the roadways. make sure you keep that in mind as you are heading out. that can make it dangerous not being able to see quite the lane you that are in. so far we have been on all pretty good roads. but again. mind. just even heading out in these cold temperatures. bundling up. walking the house to the car it's very, very cold. we want to make sure nobody gets frost bite because that can set in quickly. about 20 minutes in these temperatures and these winds. keep all of these things in mind if you are heading out today i know today is a holiday weekend a lot of you guys are heading out of town or even out to dinner, out tolan . keep all of that in mind as you get in the car. we want to keep everybody safe out here on the roadways.

to the midafternoon a high of only 11 trees. that's below normal at airport. 13 but inland locations tracking in that cooler air from stark into summit. we are talking about single digits. that's not including the wind chills. when you factor in the northwest winds, 15 to 20 miles an hour we will not be stepping out of negative king territory for wind chills throughout the afternoon. so it gets better as we head in to the valentine's day. tomorrow morningw. he will talk about it. chills. if you have exposed skin maybe throughout the day. that wind chill advisory in morning. >> if you happen to see the sun today don't be fooled.

welcome back the mother of one of the columb ine shooters broke her silence. you saw that interview here. some of the parents of the students who never made it home from school that day say the program was to difficult to watch. one of the survivors wrote a message to the killer's mother. >> reporter: a powerful reaction from a student paralyzes in the shootings. she sent this open letter to the mother saying i have forgiven you and wish you only the best. casey johnson is also a surveyor. now 34 and married with four children her shoulder was shattered in the shootings and now has limited use of her right arm. she said she still has panic attacks and remembers every detail of what happened that day in the lunch room. she said she refuses to let evil win. >> i don't have anger i have questions like i would will have to sit with either of their parents parents and just ask even agriculture a parent

machete attack at a restaurant. police say information connected to the registration of the car driven by the suspect led them to call in the fbi the information triggered an aalert that required bringing in the local terrorism task force. that attack. >> very big long knife. the other knife was a little darker. you could see both being swung the whole time. >> the owner of the restaurant said they believes the man targeted him because is he israeli. the fbi said that it's to soon to draw conclusions. the suspect was shot and killed by police. this morning police are saying that the shooting at a glendale arizona high school that left two girls dead is a murder suicide. police confirmed they found a suicide note at the scene of the friday morning shooting. the teens both 15 have been identified but their names aren't being released because they are juveniles. mean tile another school
