attorney general's office will now take over the investigation into anderson's death. not a big surprise. cuyahoga county prosecutor tim mcginty to appoint a special prosecutor after conflicts of interest. she died in november of 2014 after he family called for an ambulance for thementlyil woman. two police officers showed -- the mentally ill woman. a lawsuit says the officers used excessive force, including places a knee in her back and sidewalk. our exclusive investigation uncovered wide reaching problems with how cleveland police deal with the mentally ill, problems

consulted other hospitals on safety. he wonders how this man, andrew wallis allegedly got two knifes in and stabbed a man in the stomach. >> they think he probably wasn't searched very thoroughly and should have been. >> he was transportd from akron city hospital to the fifth -- transported to the facility. he says hospitals can and should search people and their bags before a transport to a psych ward. >> the level of security, with searches should increase and is a normal protocol across the united states. >> we checked wallace's past and found he's done prison time for robbery and burglary and 2014 he was arrested for a hidden machete and meth.

>> the security officer is listed as an elder and his neighbors are praying he'll make a full recovery after emergency surgery. >> that's scary and sad and i guess you just never know. >> reporter: and akron police tell us wallace is listed as homeless. tonight he's in the summit county jail on a $100,000 bond, charged with fell ownous assault -- felonious assault. news channel 5. >> and this is not the first time a hospital security guard has had to take on an out of control patient. in august we told you about a security officer who was forced to shoot a man in the emergency room at mary mount hospital in garfield heights. in that case the man grabbed the officer's taser and used it against emergency room staffers. police said that man grabbed the taser after he was shocked twice

the officer shot the man in the shoulder. and we did some digging and found out that not all hospitals share akron's policy of keeping security guards unarmed. the cleveland clinic, for example, has its own fully armed police force and hires off-duty officers and keeps metal detectors throughout the main campus. and we're learning more about a raid at a doctor's office this afternoon. was searched. the stark county prosecutor's office are leading the investigation. and we couldn't help but notice in akron some, floating >> we call those hydro meteors. it's flakes. light snow, and flurries around the area. the good news is, we should

national carpet mill outlet super store. our top stories a special prosecutor is taking over the case of tanisha anderson, the woman who died in police custody in 2014. this after the county prosecutor found out the cuyahoga county sheriff's department may have a conflict of interest. anderson's family killed for an ambulance to help the mentally ill woman in 2014 and 2 officers came instead. anderson died after struggling getting into their patrol car. a security officer was stabbed by a patient. a convicted felon snuck two knives into the hospital and it's not clear whether that suspect was searched for weapons. >> and 13 family members sickened by a carbon monoxide leak in east cleveland say the landlord is to blame. they say he was at work on their 6th avenue furnace the day

the east cleveland mayor told us it's not clear whether the landlord would bear responsibility requiring any c.o detectors. and the ohio primary may be a month away but the first votes have already been cast. >> early voting at the boards of election across the state that started today. john kasich johns us and you are expecting another early vote? >> roughly 40% of the voters who voted in the presidential primary did so before the polls even opened, and early voting process that in this year's primary gone today. >> reporter: early voting in the general presidential election can look like this because of importance of ohio, but this year in the primary with 23 states still voting ahead, not so much. to the last election officials are happy with day one. >> we have a steady flow coming
