morning and all of them gave a similar description of their attacker. first we have breaking news out of dallas. we just learned that police have referred the johnny manziel case to the dallas county district attorney. according to the police department the case will be prepared for a presentation to the grand jury. manziel is in the center of a domestic violence investigation involving a fate with his ex- girlfriend. police wrote in the blog that they considered this case a class a misdemeanor. we checked and that's the most serious type of misdemeanor. it's punishable up to a year in jail and $4,000 in fines. keep in mind, manziel has not been charged. breaking at this hour the attempted abducted shins lorain county. this unfolded early this morning. three girls say the man approached them at locations in the city. >> it all started in he will larry i can't as a 10-year-old girl woke up to a man trying to drag her out biher legs. we have a team of reporters digging into what happened.

where that girl's family spoke to newschannel5's tara. >> reporter: police and fbi were out here all day collecting as much evidence as they can from the house behind me. now, i talked to thlts girl's family earlier today. they're totally distraught and holding her just a little bit tighter tonight. quiet street, a family neighborhood. just feet from a school. it makes this family's disturbing story that much more disturbing. >> it's the scariest thing i've ever been through. >> just before 4:00, her 10- year-old daughter ran into her mother's bedroom screaming. she said a man woke her up trying to pull her out of her wide. he told her to be quiet. she kicked herself free but the man got away. they're happy their little girl is safe but said they can't rest easy until the man what

>>'s important he gets caught. so no other kids try to get taken. >> reporter: their neighbors disbelief. police captain. he told me police are working with fbi to track the suspect down, scanning the area, increasing patrols. >> it's a very dangerous perp to try to pull this girl out of her bed early in the morning. this is somebody that we need to get off the streets very quickly. >> reporter: the suspect is described as a white maine his 30s with brown eyes. he was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt. the captain said they will find him. >> i'm confident that we'll catch this person. >> reporter: but they're asking for your help.

aware that there is danger out there. >> reporter: investigators are still out here. they're going door to door. if you see something suspicious in your neighborhood, they ask you to please report it. if you have any information that could help their investigation they ask you to please give them a call. tara molina, newschannel5. now we go to lorain where police are searching for a man with a similar description who tried to abduct three girls this morning. police say in the first attack the man not only tried to grab the girl but punched her twice in the face. during the second the man exposed himself to a different yard. and just a half-hour later after that he tried to grab a school. because of the reports, the school was placed in lockdown for the day, and that has left a whole community shaken. >> my son came home from school petrified. he goes to lorain high. he said the school is on lockdown, there's a lot of

out to the bus, so he felt like he didn't even want to go any more. >> police say all three girls are okay. the school officials are urging parents to escort their kids to and from school or the bus stop. newschannel5 is always investigate sog we started asking questions that every parent should know the answer to. investigator sarah buduson continues our live team coverage tonight. sara, you dug into the number of sex offenders in the area. >> reporter: we went into the sex offender bat that base and -- database and searched. we found there are 13 registered sex offenders living in that area. and three of them match the description the girls gave of their attacker. that description given to police was a white man, about 6' tall, and in his 20s or 30s. we're still unsure who the suspect is, and it may not be

month. now to details on the story we broke on good morning cleveland two. akron police officers are recovering after the driver of a minivan slammed into their cruiser and then ran away. bob jones on top of the latest developments. bob, you were able to track down surveillance video of the crash. >> reporter: well, we will show that you video in just a little bit. that heavily damaged cruiser was brought here to the akron city garage. inside of it there were two police officers. luckily they are doing okay. now to that surveillance video. you see officers are on the way to a fight call when suddenly a stolen minivan pulls out and slams into the police car.

new information about a man who called a bomb threat into a school. we were in court today as edwards was sentenced to nearly five years in prison. edwards made the threat to stow monroe falls high in may of last year. he called the receptionist and threatened that building would go boom. he was charged with aggravated menacing. stephanie powell convicted of murdering the father of her five children was sentenced to life in prison in court today. jury found powell guilty of aggravated murder and obstruction of justice in the deaths of james harris. while in a custody battle with harris, powell and her boyfriend paul reid lured harris to her home to kill him. reid is also serving life in prison for his connection. a search related on social media concerning a local

out toward moga door. stow, the same story. here's your radar and temperature futurecast. watch, we're going set up a few bands of lake-effect snow with a steadier band by friday morning out in ashtabula county. the rest of the region, any additional accumulation welcome back a dusting. if you get under a snow band you could see a quick inch or two, maybe a little bit more by dawn tomorrow morning. but they will be few and far between those heavier totals. 30 in cleveland, 31 akron, 30 canton. 27 for mentor, 28 for ashtabula, ravenna. 29 in medina, fremont 33. still some gusty winds. look at the ashtabula wind speed here. your windchill values, of course, you are going to be in hours.

pulling away, let's an lays our satellite map. watch the trough of low pressure dropping in. i also want you to notice another tiny trough right here. you can see that thicker band of clouds right there. watch that second trough. as it comes by we'll see some of this. lake-effect snow here, and i think we'll see a few little bands of lake-effect snow coming in off lake erie. once again totals should be very manageable. if you're under the band, an inch or two or three. the rest of the area, a dusting of snow. it's going to be cold tomorrow, but we do get a flow returning out of the south and west. that should help warm us up. tonight 22, lake-effect snow, one to three inches where the bands persist. the rest of the area pretty much dry. tomorrow 27, a little morning flake that will do. saturday 4 2, sunday, it's not 67, but 52 and dry.
