a sweet 16 birthday party turns deadly in east cleveland. more on what happened overnight in a live report ahead. a local woman who risked her life to save others is being remembered as a hero. we're getting a live look outside on this sunday morning. it's a sunny blue sky day. in downtown cleveland. the camera. welcome, "good morning cleveland," our sunday edition, i'm nick foley alongside meteorologist janessa webb. if you liked yesterday you're probably going to like today even better. winds. that advisory starts at 11:00 but the winds already starting to pick up.

look at this, we're already to a warm start. it's 10:00 a.m., we're sitting at 50 degrees for greater cleveland into the airport. out towards dover, new philly, stark, summit county in the upper 40s. we're going to continue to be on the warmer trend as we head into the rest of the day. here we go, these wind advisories for cuyahoga county into lake, ashtabula, starting 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. gusts to 45 to 50 miles per hour. the rest of northeast ohio you can see out towards mansfield, route 30 corridor into erie, huron county, lorain, that is until 10:00 p.m. tonight. we're dealing with our next front that is quickly approaching, going to allow us to see some wet weather slice through here late evening tonight all the way into overnight. these are sustained wind speeds, they are constant throughout your afternoon. going to be noticing them, 25 to 30 miles per hour, going to start to subside as we head

so "power of 5" now, we're not tracking any moisture. high pressure is sagging well towards our south. northwest, that front is going to quickly approach but we're going to be sitting in a lot of sunshine to finish up the weekend. look at this, 3:00 we're at 58 degrees. three so separate shootings overnight leaves one dead, two injured. police have two people in custody but this case is far from over. meg shaw is digging into what happened. she's live in the east cleveland police station. certainly a violent night overnight hours. what do we know this morning? >> reporter: this is a complex case. police are now investigating to see if the shootings are related and if they are, how. but they can tell me that two of the three shootings happened during a sweep 16 birthday party just on euclid avenue less than a mile from where we are now. here is what i can tell you about the three shootings.

around 10:30 saturday to that party, four shots fired. when they arrived they say the victim wasn't there. they say he chose to seek medical attention himself. as for the suspect in this case they were able to locate a vehicle involved and arrested the man driving the car that turns out to be a stolen vehicle. then just 30 minutes later at 11:00, they were called back to the same sweet 16 birthday party on euclid. this time they found an 18-year- old male unresponsive on the sidewalk. they say that they attempted to revive him, he was eventually transported to university hospital where he was pronounced dead. it doesn't end there. around 2:00 a.m. police were then called to the intersection of euclid and shaw for a third shooting. that victim transported himself to the hospital. in a stolen vehicle which is now being held with east cleveland police. they tell me one person of interest is in custody, a second person of interest is

that third shooting. but again, a complex case here overnight. they say there are many unanswered questions. they are asking anyone with information to call east cleveland police this morning. live in east cleveland, meg shaw, newschannel 5. new details about a double homicide we first brought you as breaking news yesterday on "good morning cleveland." police say 42-year-old christopher trent and his 40- year-old brother allen trent, were killed at a washington town home apartment there. a neighbor called 911 to report gunshots. you can hear the early morning chaos on that call.

searching for the shooter. they only have a vac description at this time. remembering a hero. tonya johnson was hit by a car and killed last week. police say she ran into traffic following an argument with her husband on state route 8 in summit county. the 18-year veteran of the canton fire department will be laid to rest tomorrow. ahead of her funeral friends and family are celebrating her life. derrick waller with more. >> reporter: at times it was hard to count how many people crowded behind this house. it was a very emotional vigil honoring tonya johnson. >> god, we ask your blessings upon this mother. >> reporter: in this backyard they prayed, embraced, shared their love. johnson's children said she told them everyday how much she loved them. >> i hear that every morning. i just hear it. i hear it in my dreams. i hear it when i wake up. i love you -- it meant so

>> reporter: her son read this recent text message she sent him. >> i love you beyond measure forever and always. will be with you. i promise that nothing could ever separate me from you guys. >> we love you tonya! >> reporter: at least 100 people lit up the sky with candles but johns's mom says at least 10 times as many people are expected at her funeral. >> we don't even know that many people. they are feeling my pain. they are feeling my pain. and just want to show their support. i appreciate it. i appreciate it. >> reporter: police say johnson darted out of the car following an argument with her husband. the story still doesn't make sense to anyone here. >> i know it was not a suicide. i know she didn't jump out because she wanted to. >> i'm torn up now. i'm so grateful she was in our life as long as she was. unanswered questions. it's ok, god's got this. i imagine one day the truth will come to light.

welcome back. 10:15 on your sunday. 36 people are dead including five rescuers in a russian mining accident. officials say methane gas leak triggered two explosions in the collapse of the mine thursday. early this morning another explosion killed several people trying to rescue the miners. the resulting fire is still burning now. in syria, there are conflicting reports of how the new ceasefire is holding up. opposition monitoring groups say war planes carried out air raids on the second day of the russian and u.s.-backed ceasefire. a british based group says the

another group from syria says they were russian. it's not clear if the planes struck the area of the country that is excluded from the truce. also today, police are investigating a fight that broke out at a kkk rally in california. three people were stabbed when demonstrators and counterprotesters started a brawl, caught on camera. one of the stabbing victims was stuck with the pointed end of a flag pole. it's not clear who attacked first but several videos show protesters punching and rushing the kkk members. in all 13 people were arrested. a sad story from virginia now. a police officer is dead, shot just one day after being sworn in to the department. ashley guindon was killed while responding to a domestic shooting last night. two others were shot in the incident. a woman found dead at the home. a military serviceman was take noon custody. and is expected in court tomorrow. in pennsylvania, another student faces charges now but

all the time. this is an example. >> today is vital. you need to be outside. soak up the 60s because that will not be 60s the next five to seven days after this. we are looking at a bigtime cooldown but you can see sunny skies out there. our camera kind of shaking. we're seeing gusts, starting to pick up. we have wind advisories starting 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for cuyahoga county, lake, ashtabula county and then the rest of northeast ohio out towards richland, route 30 corridor. wow, really blustery out there. the last time cleveland hit 60 twice in february was nearly 10 years ago. can you believe that? today's going to be that day. it was in 2006 we had two days in a row where we hit 60 degrees. temperatures off the charts today. just lovely conditions out towards lake county. this is our still cam. can't really see the winds whipping now but they are going

temperatures now at the airport, a nice toasty 50 degrees. cooler temperatures out towards stark county, 48 if you can say 47 ashtabula. 49 mentor. if you're just waking up you can see from the "power of 5" we're seeing a little high pressure, not too much cloud coverage. it's scooting out towards the east so lake county, geauga, portage, ashtabula, you're seeing a little bit of clouds but they are moving out fairly quickly. we're dealing with that southerly flow which is allowing for warmer air to track in here. it's going to continue throughout the day. even though the winds are very blustery it's allowing for the gradual warm-up that we continue to see. these are sustained wind speeds, meaning a constant, what is going to be throughout the day. 20 to 25 miles per hour. things start to die down here as a front moves through as we head into tomorrow.

to have the shades handy. look at my bar graph, completely off the charts. even going into tonight we start to see a few clouds working in. i think around 11:00, 12:00, overnight hours, that is when that rain starts to sweep through. that's that area of high pressure that continues to sweep out, out towards the carolinas. this is our first front that will make its way in overnight producing us with that good swath of rain. this is front two that is starting to make its way onshore. we're going to be watching this here as it crosses over the rockies, the lake there. it will produce us with rain/snow mixture tuesday into wednesday. so your futurecast, you can see, comes through fairly quickly. the good news, i think it clears out before your early morning commute. still some slick spots, you can see the drop in our temperatures. very quickly here, we wave goodbye to the 60s. then we start getting back into reality. 40s and 30s going into next week.

that weather bug. 53 folks. we're off to a warm start. westlake, you're 53 this morning. expect the thermometer to go up even more, from euclid, kirtland, madison, you're in the lower 50s this morning. we're tracking a few clouds to lake geauga, portage, ashtabula but crossing over that pa line fairly quickly. the rest of us just sitting under that high pressure which is allowing for all that sunshine to continue to move through. now, we have very weak cold front that is going to slice through here late tonight into your overnight. it will provide us with a little bit of wet weather to finish up the weekend. these are sustained winds, you probably have already started to notice them. we have a wind advisory in effect for cuyahoga county, lake, geauga, ashtabula,

person of interest in custody and they are looking for a second person of interest in that third shooting but again there are a lot of unanswered questions, in all three shootings, to see if they are connected and if so how. but, they are asking anyone with information to call east cleveland police this morning. live in east cleveland, meg shaw, newschannel 5. also new this morning -- a man wanted for almost 15 years on charges that he raped a child in ohio has been arrested in colorado. u.s. marshals say 40-year-old david lee skelly, known as herman singleton too attempted to run before he was captured outside the residence inn where he worked near denver. he was wanted on eight counts of rape and sexual assault. he was originally indicted by a grand jury in lucas county in 2001. new details just in about the crash that killed two people in copley township last night. the victims have been

leatherman of wadsworth and 19- year-old hailey schmidt of copley. they were speeding north of copley road, lost control and hit a ditch and several trees. the crash remains under investigation today. in cleveland, a 60-year-old man is dead after being struck by a car overnight. michael groves was crossing lee road near tarkington avenue before 10:00 when a vehicle hit him and drove off. groves was not in a marked crosswalk at the time. it's unknown now if police have a description of the vehicle that hit him. nearly 100 ohio troops are on their way to the middle east to support the fight against isis. members of the 179th airlift wing left mansfield yesterday. the ohio unit consisting mostly of air craft mechanics will be assisting and transferring supplies and personnel throughout the middle east. concerned citizens in lyndhurst are sending a message to city leaders about a controversial deer calling method.

bolt is put through their head. dozens of residents protested the plan outside lintedhurst city hall yesterday calling it inhumane. the officials say they are working with the division of wildlife to make sure the trap and bolt program is humane. and effective. a plan to demolish a century old building not rolling on without a fight. the breck building built in 1911 is scheduled to come down over the summer. members of the athens county historical society say the building should be preserved because of its significant architecture. also happening today -- benefit to help provide transitional housing for homeless women veterans. the second annual reception to support arlya's house will be held this afternoon. tickets are $40, include the reception to be followed by the play. if you have been meaning to take advantage of the downtown

welcome back. 10:45. breaking news from ere killed in an early morning shooting there. police tell the toledo abc station that 36-year-old rafael grieves and 31-year-old angela tyranny both found dead at a home on fallen timber drive. both had gunshot wounds. police believe this stems from a domestic argument. hillary clinton is waking up the big winner in south carolina but bernie sanders says the democratic campaign is far from over. clinton's victory secured her 39 delegates, sanders picked up just 14. sanders didn't appear dejected by the results. telling supporters in minnesota last night that they are starting a "political revolution" and clinton now has wins in three of the first four

>> reporter: the countdown continues for the rnc. one of the city's new crown jewels is on pace for a late grand opening in the spring. moses cleveland looks out over his square from what was a year ago the middle of ontario street. the recent thaw removing the snow that hit the progress being made here, with over three months the fencing, construction equipment and workers will be gone and public square will be public once again. >> we're in line for completing the project that is planned. you can see how much progress we made i think since we last attacked so. many trees are in now. you have the cafe under construction behind me. you have the water feature, you can see the piping and fountains coming in. >> reporter: the project's cost remains $37 million, getting a boost by an extra $3.5 million from the state. >> we have what we need to complete the construction project. we're equally focused on taking care of the project and operating it and maintaining it. we continue to need to bring in

care of this and use it actively for years to come. >> reporter: $3.5 million from the state was from funds the state was putting up for the pedestrian bridge over the shoreway to the rock hall. the project delayed but one the group says is still moving forward for 2017. >> we want to walk out through the transformed public square over the wonderful mall and connect to the lakefront. so we're working to having the resources we need, all progressing nicely. >> reporter: looking ahead, super tuesday not enough? we're going to have another republican debate thursday night, in detroit ahead of michigan's march 8th primary. then four more states are heading to the polls saturday. with democracy 2016, i'm john kosich, enjoy your sunday. public square is going to look so much different when finished. i can't wait. janessa webb joins us for a look at weather. this forecast is going to look a little different than later in the week.
