we just kept hearing shooting. bang, bang, bang. >> a motive for the shooting is still unclear. stay with news channel 5 and check your app for updates. new at 6:00, cleveland police have a man in custody in connection with the deadly hit and run. the suspect turned himself in this afternoon and tonight we are learning the victim in this case has been hit before. we digging into the investigation. you spoke to a close friend of that victim. >> reporter: i did. he described him as someone who was on foot all the time. he lived right down this avenue, and last night he was killed in this intersection. that's just about a half mile from his house. groves, who was 60 years old, died on scene, identified by the medical

me a similar situation happened to the man. walking along trucking 10 in front of the man -- in front of his house and someone hit him. he was hospitalized. the suspect in last night's incident is 20 years old. it happened just before 10:00 p.m. the suspect turned himself in today, but he has not been charged, and that neighbor describes the victim is a very nice man and a popular one also. >> he walked around the whole neighborhood. that's all he did was walk around the whole neighborhood and mingle. he mingled around with everyone in the neighborhood. >> now, police tell us the victim tried to cross the road right here where there is no crosswalk marking industry. but there are crossing signs on either side. and over on the opposite side, there's a crosswalk parking history, but one side is missing the crosswalk sign. we spoke to neighbors in the area and they tell me this is a dangerous intersection across one of them even telling me he goes

safer to get across. news channel 5. police investigate weathers three separate shootings are related. one person killed, two suspects in custody. details of the violence overnight. >> reporter: east cleveland police say it started right here when they were called to this building around 10:30 for shots fired inside a sweet 16 birthday party. when police got here, they say the victim wasn't here. he chose to seek medical attention himself. as for the suspect, police were able to locate a vehicle involved in the shooting and arrested a man driving a car, which police tell me turns out to be a stolen vehicle. then just 30 minutes later police were called back out here to the same party for another shooting. they found an 18-year-old male unresponsive on the sidewalk. police say they attempted to revive

to university hospital where he was pronounced dead. the violent night didn't end there. just after 2:00 a.m., police were then called hear to the intersection of you great and shaw for a third shooting. that victim transported himself to the hospital and a stolen vehicle, which is being held with east cleveland police. police tell me they have one person of interest in custody and they are actively searching for a second person of interest in that third shooting. police say the case is far from over. they still have many on answer questions left in their investigation, so they are asking anyone with information to call east cleveland police. nick shaw, news channel 5. new details released about a deadly rollover crash. we broke the story last night at 11:00. ohio state troopers say a 21-year-old of wadsworth and a 19-year-old of copley were killed

hitting several trees and landing on its roof. the cause of the crash is under investigation but state -- but speed is likely a factor. sandusky police officers -- officers found the body of a 36 euros and 31-year-old inside a home on fallen timber drive this morning. hundreds of people expect to pay their respects to a firefighter tomorrow. calling hours for tonya johnson start tomorrow morning at 10:00. jackson was hit and killed by a car on state route eight in summit county. police say she darted into traffic following an argument with her husband. her son says the story does not add up. >> i know she didn't jump out because she wanted to. >> akron police are investigating the case but said her husband is

northeast ohio and joining a taste of today. the wind had changed. strong gusts knocked out power to at least 3000 people. those winds are not expected to die down anytime soon and so the spring fever will be over fairly quickly. we have a front moving in tonight and winds should back off a bit around that sunset kind. we are still talking breezy conditions for the monday forecast as well. 35 miles per hour in cleveland, but when they are this strong, it helps deliver well above average temperatures and give us the chance to see middle and upper 60s in some places. 41 mile-per-hour gusts, 29 mansfield. if you're headed out for dinner, watch the car doors. we are still under a wind advisory for the highlighted companies. 45 to 50 mile-per-hour gusts, and so the overnight wind at 1:00 we expect to see the cold front sleep

happening now, the cruise ship damaged by a major storm earlier this month abandoning its latest voyage. royal caribbean was forced to turn around yesterday because of an earl virus outbreak and the possibility of severe weather. it is unclear how many passengers got sick. the ship is expected to arrive at its home port in new jersey on wednesday. new details about the shooting death of a rookie virginia police officer. tonight an army staff sergeant is facing murder charges in connection with her death. investigators say officer ashley glendon and two other officers responded to a domestic incident when ronald hamilton shot them. she had been sworn in just one day before she died. >> she clearly, had a passion to

sunshine, two. we here at home had the chance to enjoy the middle and upper 60s. it was fun to be outside. didn't have to deal with the wind, it wouldn't have -- it would have been perfect. i still see some jackets there, so the wind made it feel a bit cooler for us. we are awaiting the rain chance. the cold front west will march east in the overnight hours making a say goodbye to the 60s and hello to february weather. 40s return for daytime highs tomorrow and also squeezing the high-pressure system that has allowed dry weather over the past couple days. here is where the rain is currently making its way to the western half of indiana. not even yet in indianapolis. so it's trying to get close to detroit they are at 63 degrees. chicago is dry for now but a second batch behind it would still fall to the north. for most of us, and it's just a rain chance. starting as early as about 10:00 or

counties. downtown more like midnight to 1:00 a.m. 63 currently. 62 and dry here. feeling good at ritz field at 60 degrees. 61 wadsworth, 62 in jackson township. ashland also near 70. those were the two warmest locations. your winds, provided that warm air is still living, temperatures start to drop here with the sunset. wind advisory until 1:00 a.m. gusts 45 to 55 miles per hour, so if you're driving this evening, you may run into some communities without power. that strong wind has knocked out a few locations, so keep that in mind tonight. winds still 35 miles per hour in cleveland, 41 for gusts, 29 mansfield, 18 in new philadelphia. they'll back off to the breezy category as we lose the advisory,

the sunset. it's absolutely beautiful here. clouds increase and the rain chances moving. riggle at 11:00 tonight. still probably waiting for the news to come on as the oscars will be wrapping up. 50s for us, so just rain. a big shot about 1:00 or 2:00 and then we start to see kicking out. a little mixed there and i think most of us see the rain as temperatures really don't drop off another front, which means another chance at the mix. the up those numbers a little bit to a bit more. for your monday back into the middle and upper 40s.

here is a look at your our by hour forecast. it's an active week and we get colder by the end. the cavaliers visited the wizards in washington dc. the head coach saying before the game he thought it would be a good day, but the cavs could've used them today. with lebron on the side lines, it basically became from start to finish in this one. more where that came from. he knocks down the three pointer. finishing with a double-double. he also had seven rebounds. cavs struggled defensively today as they fell 113-99.
