live always investigating. always on your side, newschannel 5 starts now! >> a family in mourning tonight after their 4-year-old child died after a massive fire broke out in an apartment complex. >> the dozens forced from their homes as a result. today with the help of community, those evacuated from their home trying to pick up the pieces. >> a sprinkler system could spreading. megan hickey has been digging through inspection records. what do you know about how the fire started. >> reporter: investigators have not determined a cause but a disguarded cigarette could be to blame. it may have started on the ground floor outside the building. an annual safety inspection was performed in june and found no violations. detectors but not required to

his home. jeff rinear is facing charges assault and tampering with evidence in crystal shaver's dead. rinear shot him in his home last month. expected to be arraigned on tuesday. an akron man learned his sentence today for raping three girls all under the age of ten. bruce gordon arrested last year after one of the victims came forward to their mother. gordon will be eligible for parole in he 55 years and if released he will have to register as a sex offender. learning several people have been arrested following drug bust in lorain county. both lorain and elyria police department targeted suspected drug traffickers that are responsible for supplying heroin and cocaine around the counties. they expect to make more arrests. we are learn that more people died as a result of

times all snowiest. 25-inches. 30-inches below the normal for time of year. no snow in the near future. scattered clouds. mid and high level clouds but we do notice a lot of rainfall out of the gulf of mexico. flood warnings and tornado watches out for the mississippi river. houston to dallas over towards st. louis. this is where the bulk of the heavy rain is going. but we will see some of that rain shifting around. there is the front. shifting up and over and eventually i think tomorrow afternoon we will see a few hit and miss isolated rain showers. better chance for rain on thursday. a very rainy day. this high still doing its job. the blocking high, remember i said as long as the big boy is sitting here and spinning, not moving anywhere it's going to hold back all of this. we're on the warm side, yep, so we are enjoying temperatures well above normal and will do that tomorrow.

lindsey ross is name this student of the week. she excels in the classroom. lindsey wallace of franciscan high is not your ordinary girl's high school athlete. lindsey is the goalie for the boy's hockey team. >> the coaches in our league, the great lake hockey league vote on best players offense and defense and goal tenders. all the coaches voted that lindsey as a junior was the best goaltender this season. she received that award. lindsey plays tennis and runs track. >> but sports is not the only thing she is good at but excels in academics.
