the countdown to the ohio primary continues this morning and more candidates will be in our area today. trying to win over your vote. >> though this rally here in cleveland remained peaceful the same can't be said for all of donald trump's stops in ohio. what happened, ahead. first, you have overcast skies as you begin your day. a little warmer than it was yesterday at this time. and it might get even warmer, have the umbrellas handy. welcome to the sunday edition of "good morning cleveland." i'm nick foley alongside meteorologist janessa webb. as we said warmer but wet. >> a lot of green on radar now but temperatures are soaring this morning. we are already sitting into the

and i know everybody might be a little sleepy this morning as we lost that hour but the great daylight. spring is in less than seven days, folks and we're going to continue to see this warm-up monday. look at the "power of 5", that east. i want to show you the darker greens and the yellow. that is why we're seeing a good moderate rainfall. inland locations out towards wayne county, medina, stark and summit county, this cell here in orrville, that is producing a good shower or two but moving fairly quickly. temperatures across the board, good morning elyria, you're currently at 48 degrees. greater cleveland into the lower 50s. the thermometer will go up a few more clicks as we head into the mid-afternoon. looking at daytime highs into the mid to upper 50s. but you can see that rain, it really want to stick around as we head into about the 5:00

it will be on the light side, that moderate accumulation starts to pick up overnight into your monday. i'm going to show you in a few minutes, we're talking about good accumulation, up to 1 to 2 inches in spots. yesterday. we are now just two days election. candidates from both parties are making several stops in the buckeye state today and tomorrow all to make their last- minute pitches to voters. meg shaw is live in the newsroom with the latest on the stops. good morning, meg. >> reporter: in john kasich wants to win ohio he has to convince voters today and tomorrow to get outaged vote for him. according to the latest numbers from cnn gop frontrunner donald trump is still leading in the polls, but kasich has managed to narrow his lead. today is a jam packed day, full of campaigning for both parties. kasich is scheduled to make two stops in ohio today starting

then trump will be in west chester, ohio, right outside of cincinnati, that rally starts at 2:00. you may be wondering what about cruz and rubio, we have not heard much about them here. but rubio is putting all his efforts into his home state of florida. because voters are also heading to the polls on tuesday. as for cruz, he's campaigning tonight. he's scheduled to be in columbus at 7:30. back to john kasich. at a rally yesterday in mansfield kasich's wife said simply trump cannot win ohio. >> vote for john kasich and show donald trump he can't just march into ohio and take the state. >> as for the democratic party we just got word that hillary clinton will be at a church in highland hills this morning, that starts at 10:45, we do have a crew there. as for bernie sanders he will be back in ohio starting tomorrow, campaigning. he will be at the playhouse

live in the newsroom, meg shaw, newschannel 5 . the sprint to the tuesday's primaries in full effect now, hillary clinton staying in cleveland overnight after her appearance at olivette baptist church last night. though she has no publicly scheduled events in our area supporters will meet with area voters on her behalf. they call themselves the mothers of the movement. they are six mothers who lost children to gun violence or police involved shootings. for months they've been traveling the country speaking about why they think hillary clinton is the best candidate to put a stop to the violence. today's events include a luncheon with the mothers of eric garner and dantre hamilton. and in cleveland with sandra bland. hamilton's mother goes there as well. both start 1:30. while the protests at donald trump's rally remained peaceful and uneventful thanks to the heavy cleveland police presence, tensions running high as the frontrunner moved on elsewhere.

to kansas city for another rally and police said they used pepper spray to control the crowd and arrested two people. during his rally in kansas city trump called for all protesters to be arrested. the incident in kansas city following trump's rally in dayton yesterday morning when a man hopped the barrier and jumped on stage with the business mogul. that man has been identified as thomas dimassimo. he was charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic. trump told the crowd he was ready for the man but said it's much easier if cops do it. as donald trump moves farther ahead of the competition in the delegate count his fellow kentucky seem to be going back done candidates seem to be going been a on their promise to support the eventual gop nominee no matter white is. >> i still intend to support the republican nominee but it's getting harder everyday. >> marco rubio says donald trump is dividing the party and

to support him as the republican nominee. kasich echoed that saying trump is creating a toxic environment that makes it extremely difficult to support him. on the other hand ted cruz says he'll stand by trump if he's to primaries. after their campaign events this afternoon both hillary clinton and for bernie sanders will head back to ohio tonight for another town hall. cnn and tv 1 will host the final meeting between the two democratic candidates before tuesday's primaries. between all the five states holding primaries 691 delegates are up for grabs on tuesday. so this is a very big final push for all the candidates. the town hall is being held at ohio state university and airs at 8:00 tonight. hillary clinton's irish roots are well known. in fact last year she was undicted in to the irish hall of fame and got an early start on st. patrick's day celebration in ohio last night. there she is.

good morning. we have wet pavement. what happened to the sunshine we saw yesterday afternoon? we have a front, that has entered from the south. it's bringing in some warmer air right now. temperatures currently in downtown cleveland at about 43 degrees but we'll continue to warm up as we head into the rest of the afternoon. definitely a soggy sunday in store. 57 out towards richland county. all the way into wayne. you're at 55 for today. there is that east breeze about 15 to 20 miles per hour, that will cool us off a tad bit but still mild air in place, 52 from pepper pike all the way into beachwood. once again inland locations, you're slightly warmer throughout the afternoon. akron, stark into summit county a high of 56.

two missing people continues in new york. they went missing after a deadly collision on the hudson river. crews were working at the construction site of the new tappanzee bridge when the tugboat collided with the barge sinking the boat with two crew people on board. the other bodies were found, two others still missing. human life. today. you have three people who left for work and who are not going to come home. >> governor andrew cuomo added the tugboat leaked at least 5,000 gallons of fuel into the river. the cause is still under investigation. >> obviously this is a very serious weather event. serious enough that the entire state has been declared an emergency. >> a 6-year-old child is among three people killed in deadly flooding in louisiana. thousands of people across six states dealing with the impact of historic rainfall. authorities have been going

first trip by any u.s. president in nearly 90 years. australian aviation official says another piece of airplane debris has been found in the mozambique coast. experts will investigate if this piece came from malaysia airlines flight 307 which disappeared two years ago with 239 people on board. a south african teen in december found the debris and took it home. his family contacted officials avenue another piece of debris was found last week also in mozambique. germans are going to the polls in three states today. this election is seen as a big test of support for angela murkell. the german chancellor appeared at one of the final rallies before the vote, even some members of her own party are at odds with her over the migrant crisis. many germans are upset with her decision to admit more than one million migrants into the country. here's a story sparking a

the man suspected of plowing a snowmobile into two iditarod dog teams says he's sorry for what he did. race officials say he struck two mushers in separate incidents yesterday. both of them are ok but one dog was killed and at least three others injured. 26-year-old arnold damosky says he was drunk at the time and didn't even know what he did until he sobered up. he said he later called police and confessed. he's now facing assault and other charges. the other two mushers will stay in the race. friday night fight at a prison in alabama quickly escalated following the stabbing of a corrections officer and prison warden and an inmate. about 100 prisoners were involved in the riot that lasted about four hours. raquel williams says her son was trapped in the chaos and called her from inside the prison while it was happening to tell her he loved her >> he sounded like this was his

environmentally safe. goes in orange and turns a luminousette kelly green, once it hits the water. the river dyeing is followed by the downtown st. patrick's day parade. that is on my bucket list. i know a lot of people in this area have made their way to see it. >> pretty. janessa webb has a look at weather. maybe not the day of yesterday. we had a gem. but temperatures remain warm for most of us. >> a warm front is shifting in from the south. it's colliding with a cold front that is producing us a little bit of moisture but as we just saw that green, my radar is just lit up right now with a good swath of moisture that is moving across northeast ohio. but as you said, nick, we're off to a pretty warm start across the board. temperatures into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. let's show you where we're seeing a little bit of heavier bands out towards lake county

lake, inland locations, from orrville into wayne county. you can see the darker greens there but this is moving out fairly quickly, it's shifting towards the east and losing force as it does so. you can see temperatures right now, 50 degrees at the airport. good morning elyria, currently 48. making your way out towards stark, summit county into the upper 40s, 53 out towards akron. so definitely off to a mild start across the board. taking a look at the wider view, it's a warm front that is shifting in, you can see from the contour map here the yellows but out towards the west it's colliding with that colder air and these two are really not mixing well. that high pressure that we dealt with yesterday has made its way off-shore and that allowed us to see a lot of sunshine but we're going to be dealing with this wet weather pattern for the rest of sunday.

you get a few dry slots around 12:00 out towards the canton area. but it will continue to be steady throughout the afternoon. around 5:00 p.m. there's a little bit of hope across northeast ohio. where the clouds are -- sticking around but another good batch of rain starts to track in from the south and going to be pretty steady throughout your overnight. we're going to see a lot of moisture accumulations are on the system are pretty impressive. look out towards mansfield, that is route 30 corridor up to about 2 to 3 inches of accumulation. as it shifts towards the east it loses for the. you can see the totals are less towards lake geauga, ashtabula county. but it does look like saturated ground could help with that vegetation, as spring is about seven days away. 56 degrees today. temperatures still 15 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. with that warmer air in place

thunderstorm activity as we head into tonight. nothing on the severe side as temperatures are definitely on the mild side. we'll be on that upward trend as that warm front continues to shift towards the north. 65, unreal, as we head into monday. this is not a cold rain that we are tracking in, a few showers for your early morning hours tuesday, 61. now st. patrick's day will start with a little bit of rain but that moves out as everybody's is stepping out and about. going into next weekend we're tracking in a little bit more cooler air. >> something tells me the rain is not going to slow people down on st. patrick's day. it's a heartbreaking finish for the akron zips at the mac tournament at the q and the browns have said see you later to high maintenance quarterback johnny manziel. lauren brill has that and more in our morning sports report. >> reporter: last night at the q the akron zips taking on the uv bulls in the mac championship game.

as well. but why do the rest of us have to put ourselves through this? >> we were sleeping through those early morning sunrise times in the summer. and that was considered a waste of a tremendous natural resource. >> i know you and i are not a fan of it this morning. sounds old fashioned but in modern times studies show it saves energy. a downside, more people are out driving when it stays lighter later. recent studies suggest that losing that hour of sleep could trigger serious health-related issues. preliminary research from finland found the overall rate for stroke to be 8% higher for two days following daylight savings time and people with experience stroke. according to the study. and also people over 65 were 20% more likely to have a stroke as well.

one million reportings everyday of users violating policy. the manager says it includes allegations of hate speech posted on facebook. she said it can be tricky to separate free speech from preaching hate but the company usually draws the line when a post attacks people based on their individual characteristics. the facebook executive also said that posts inciting physical violence are usually reviewed first. if you see news happening please let us know.

can see a few breaks into stark and summit county. but it will continue to flow in 5:00 hour. things start to dry out, just a tad bit around 6:00 p.m. but another dose, really starts to slide in from the west. really affecting mansfield, all the way into southern portions of cuyahoga county. these are pretty impressive totals, this will be overnight into early morning event. you can see up to about two inches of accumulation but as you track more towards the east the front really starts to lose its force here and you can see totals are not impressive from stark to summit county. it's just well towards our west we're going to be keeping an eye on that. could see ponding, hydroplaning in you're on highways but this is going to be helping vegetation saturate that ground. 56 for today. with temperatures this high there is a chance of an isolated thunderstorm

temperatures, look at this, 50s degrees, well above normal. this is not a cold rain that we are tracking in. the wet weather is sticking around all the way into the start of your monday. we'll get a slight break and then another dose late tomorrow evening. 65 though, 61 as we head into tuesday and we'll see a little sunshine, st. patrick's day looking at 54 degrees.

finally this morning, those enjoying the st. patrick's day parade in chicago witnessed a pretty tense sight yesterday. the two window washers had to be rescued from a scryscaper after their scaffolding shifted. the crew was stuck for hours between the 15th and 17th floor the building. you can hear the cheers because they were safely rescued and back on the ground this morning. amazing images there. certainly terrifying moment. janessa webb has a final look to the weather. nothing terrifying about the forecast but wet for sure. >> it's good sleeping weather. take a nap today. >> we plan on that. >> we're going to see that rain, it will be a good dose as we head into monday, 65 the front starts to track more towards the north and it's warm
