es to the media, all eyes are on ohio. those hoping to be the next president chris crossing the state hoping it will make a difference when voters head to the polls tomorrow. and how ohio votes could change the direction of the race for the white house. >> first at 11:00 p.m. the primary season is about to get more intense. voters in five states including ohio vote tomorrow and that could give us clear front runners or lead to a brokered convention and today they made their final pitches. joe pagonakis starts us off. >> reporter: security was tight.

interrupted by protesters. however he did go on the attack against the media and ohio governor john kasich. >> reporter: donald trump stepping off his private plane 45 minutes late in front of a crowd of 5,000 at the hanger and it didn't take long to taunt the media of 100 members in attendance. >> you would have heard from those guys, they are so upset how good it is. a built a great, great company. they have devastated. >> reporter: minutes later he attacked john kasich's economic record and what he called the governor's support of the north american free trade agreement. both in a tight battle for ohio's 56 delegates. >> your governor is over rated. he hasn't done a thing. without oil you would be in worse shape than any other state in the union.

>> reporter: many supporters say despite trump's harsh tone they are voting for him because he is paying for his own campaign and not taking special interest dollars. >> lot of people have a problem with the economy. the fact that he is funding his own and letting us know he is not asking for money. >> reporter: only a dozen protesters that were allowed to gather just off property and no reports of arrests. here at the airport, joe pagonakis. john kasich not forgetting about the state tonight either. he was joined by a former nominee mitt romney and a senator at a rally. john kasich has been battling back against donald trump in ohio so he is pulling out all the punches.

and ted cruz is focusing on a different state, illinois. he also has some protesters show up at his rally. cruz thanked him for being there and pointed out he is not asking anyone to punch him in the face. and on the democratic side, bernie sanders took his campaign to missouri where he is in a battle with hillary clinton at a rally in st. louis. he said he can win if supporters flood the polls. he also held two rallies in our state today. he spent time in akron and youngstown. bernie sanders has done well with college students who support his proposal for free tuition. and hillary clinton made her arguments to voters in illinois and four other states voting tomorrow. she is favored to win tuesday in florida and north carolina. polling shows hillary clinton and bernie sanders are neck and
