good monday morning. we'll get started with the sad new details we're learning about the amusement park accident that killed a young boy. >> caleb schwab was the son of a state lawmaker and died riding this ride in kansas city. >> the slide is 168 feet tall and park officials aren't saying how caleb died but the park will be closed again today as the investigation gets under way. let's get more now from alex perez. >> reporter: authorities investigating what went wrong at this popular kansas city water park. >> our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. >> abc news learning the 10-year-old of scott sh swab died while riding what's known as the tallest water slide in

park. >> it still brought tears to my eyes that someone else lost their child. that's my child's age that i'm sure they thought was safe. >> before the ride opened two years ago many raised questions about its safety. especially after watching these early safety tests showing sandbag dummies flying off the slide. the ride's opening delayed at least three types while the park reworked it adding seat belts. >> they had tes and had to tear it down and rebuild a portion of the ride. quite possibly this incident is not going to be a result of a mechanical issue. more possibly a result of a human error. >> reporter: alex perez, abc news, kansas city. >> we turn to the race for the white house. donald trump shifting his focus to the economy today after more than a week mired in personal feuds as well as slumping poll numbers. >> as hillary clinton gains
