actions but known himself for controversial comments and she said it was open to the public and unaware of his attendance "absolutely famous" the event. breaking news overnight in southwest florida where an officer accidentally shot and killed a woman during a training exercise. authorities in punta gorda say mary knollton a shooting but something went very wrong. >> during the first scenario in a horrible accident participant mary knollton was struck with a live round and she was pronou pronounced deceased. >> she moved to florida from minnesota. the police officer involved has been placed on leave as an investigation is now under way. also breaking overnight gunfire broke out in ferg, missouri, during a demonstration for michael brown.

contained. over to the olympics now where swimmer michael phelps picked up two more gold medals last night. first he won the 200 meter butterfly reclaiming the top spot after a stunning loss in 2012. >> less than an hour later he anchored the men's 4x200 fr freestyle relay although the u.s. was well on its way to victory by the time he got into the pool, the 31-year-old phelps has now won three golds at rio, three more races to go. 21 golds so far in and fellow american swimmer katie ledecky picked up her second gold in rio on her way to what could be a historic run for her. she held on to win the 200 meter freestyle. that actually is normally her weakest event. she crushed the world record in the 400 on sunday. the u.s. women's gymnastics team is also dominating. the team scored last night of just under 185 was more than 8 points ahead of silver medalist russia. that's the biggest margin of victory since 1960.

catch a break. the radar shows storms in florida still stretching down the gulf coast. some big rain totals in the past 24 hours more than 6 inches in cross city, more than 5 inches in panamaty and nearly 2 in st. petersburg. a moderate earthquake rattlratt rattled northern california. it struck about 100 miles east of sacramento. people in the bay area say they felt the quake which is pretty far away. two aftershocks followed. noep injuries. the kansas water park where a young boy died last weekend re-opens this weekend but the water slide will remain closed for the rest of the season. 10-year-old caleb schwab died while coming down the ride in a three-person raft and new details are emerging about previous safety concerns and claimed the lap belts were not secure enough. there are questions about the safety of carnival rides after an accident at a county fair in tennessee.

and a 6-year-old suffered a traumatic brain injury after what inspectors said was a mechanical failure. her 10-year-old sister and another 16-year-old are in stable condition. delta is expecting some more cancellations today. the airline is trying to recover from the computer outage. three days ago that grounded thousands of flights around the world. well, according to flight aware, delta has more than 100 flight cancellations today and dozens of delaysnd say it was caused by an equipment failure at their headquarters in atlanta then computers failed to switch over to backup power. well, facebook is now blocking the ad blockers starting today software used by annoying ads on facebook will no longer work. instead they're attempting to offer better ads rolling out new preferences to give you more control over the types of ads that pop up on your page. when we come back, sprinting across the runway.

hit. >> reporter: police say 39-year-old chad cameron copley fired a shotgun from inside his garage around 12:30 a.m. hitting thomas who was just passing by this mailbox on his way back to the car. >> they have firearms and we're gonna secure our neighborhood. >> reporter: now copley charged with murder. mara schiavocampo, abc news, new york. >> four new people have been diagnosed with the zika virus in miami. according to the florida department of individuals likely contracted the virus through a mosquito bite. that brings a tote alf locally transmitted cases to 21. the department still believes that active transmissions of the zika virus are only taking place within a one-square-mile area. the knee neonatal intensive care unit at a washington, d.c. hospital is being disinfected after a bacteria was discovered on three infants. all babies were transferred from prince george's hospital in maryland as a precaution.

donald trump is on the defense today over remarks some claim incited violence against hillary clinton. trump says when he suggested that second amendment advocates might be able to stop clinton, he was referring to their political power. not violence. hillary clinton has disavowed support from the father of the orlando nightclub shooter sadique mateen attended the rally but the campaign says he was not invited. a police officer southwest florida is on leave after he accidentally shot and killed a woman during a training exercise. the woman was taking part in a role play with the officer which was supposed to simulate a shooting. but she was hit with a live round. taking a look at today's weather, dry and sunny with gusty winds for much of the west. heavy rain in the southwest and in the midwest severe weather for minnesota and the dakotas. heavy rain in parts of the south, as well as northeast. so to be an olympic athlete you need dedication and training
