a normally quiet neighborhood in brook park finds itself at the center of a tense scene overnight. we have an update on a nearly six-hourlong standoff between a shooting suspect and police. >> and a death toll rising in turkey. at least 50 people after a suspected terror attack at a wedding. >> and we start with a live look from our tower cam. and blue skies hanging on there and as you look at downtown cleveland and beginning the weekend. hello and welcome to this sunday edition of good morning cleveland. i'm nick foley with janessa webb. if you walk outside today, certainly a noticeable difference. and while the tamps are close for the same right now, it

the hazy, hot conditions, we're over that. >> and today is more comfortable in the area. you can see to wake county. and the cumulous clouds taking us over. you will notice the sun and cloud mix and also still have that chance of a spotty shower. the 69 degrees greater cleveland right now. and look at the dew point. we were sitting in a lower 70s finally out of our area. and to cool down temperaturewise for today. and upper 80s near 90s and the forecasting of a high of 75 for greater cleveland. right now, 72 and dover, new philly, 73 degrees and good morning. upper 60s and that cooler air is working its way in.

and huron county, we're sitting in a lot of sunshine. and it's going to be a great day to be outside. and still tracking the possibility of a little isolated activity. and around the 2:00 hour. and 72-radding here and not heavy, duty rain. but wow. from yesterday? ninetys! we first brought you new after six hours, the is speck confirmed dead by police and this morning, whoever waiting to hear the condition of the man expected of shooting meg shaw live in brooke park and what can you tell us about that man's condition? >> when that guy spoke with the park police before the beginning of our show, a couple of minutes ago, they were still unable to it will me how that man is doing. the only thing we're told this morning is that he was taken to metro health medical center and

looks look here this morning and busy as people are making their way around. and slowly is and stopping and a lot of people telling us this is the quiet neighborhood. and started before 7:00 when police got a call. saying a man was shot. and from neighbors. carl atkins. he barricaded himself inside of the home here on richard drive. and finally after six hours of sent a robot inside and she shot herself with a gun. we talked to a neighbor during a standoff. she said the past 20 years, shelied on the streets and has never seen anything like this. >> and breaky. you can come up with anything. you have no clue what is going on. >> reporter: and now, police still have a lot of work to do in this case. we're still waiting to have many questions answered about what led up to the shooting and

each other or if they know each other and waiting on the condition of the victim, the man shot at all. and anything we hear today and live in brooke park, meg shaw, newschannel 5. >> and waiting for many details surrounding that story. thank you, meg. >> and police trying to figure out what happened to a woman found dead outside of an abandoned building in east cleveland. and show had several gunshot wounds and police have identified her an and a sad update to breaking news we first brought you yesterday on good morning cleveland. and the man found shot has keyed and cleveland police have begun a murder investigation into that case and there is no word on any suspects and the man's identity not being released this morning. and to an effort to fight crime in the area. people coming together to raise awareness about human trafficking in cleveland with the fashion show.

. good morning, everybody. our cameras payment the picture really well here. toledo, you're seeing sunshine from lorain theatre. a few clouds out and about for western locations. but you can see how they're really big for lake county. we have that cold front that is moving across the area and that is why you're seeing increasing clouds. throughout the day, you're going to no the temperature change across the area. we're about 15 degrees cooler today from ashland to county. look at that. 77. closer to the lake. you will notice the breeze picking up and out of the west. 15 to 20 miles per hour and 75 for greater cleveland and the warm air in place and pushing that 80 degrees mark and nick, yesterday, i was talking about putting people back in the pool. and how about just grill? and lower 70s with partly sunny conditions. >> and mid-70s in mid-august.

thank you, janessa. and overnight, the death tolls is in turkey and esis is blamed for an attack on a wedding and it happened at an outdoor wedding in the country's southeast region and that is about 60 miles from ale, o. turkey's president said there is no different between isis, kurdish rebels and the u.s.-based clerics he blames for july's failed coup. >> and in alabama, police calling the murder of five people the ever seen. and this is the man believed to be behind the murders and one victim is five months pregnant and the only survivor, a small infant found in the home when officers arrived. >> and we don't know exactly who the relatives are right now and we're working diligently toward that and so -- and [

that multiple weapons were used in this crime, including a gun and he's in custody after turning himself into police overnight. and a fugitive in custody in massachusetts overnight. sean miller is 31 years old and he was disguised as an elderly man when federal and local authorities found him. and as you see right there. authorities found $30,000 inside the home where he was staying and two loaded weapons as well and he was indicted in april and intent to distribute. >> and we this is a look at last night's winning lottery

. 10:15. a tragic ending to an amber alert. the body of 5-year-old alana hurdle was found hours after the alert was issued. the suspect in her been arrested. 26-year-old zachary anderson is a family friend. police say he was staying overnight at the home. the girl's mother woke up to discover them gone. and a notre dame university said the five football players arrested on friday night are subject to dismiss am and indiana state police say the players were pulled over for speeding. investigators said the trooper smelled marijuana in the car and police later searched the vehicle and found pot and an unlicensed handgun in it's.

west from elyria, ashland, mansfield. currently in the upper 60s and dew points, as i said, lower 70s. yesterday morning, from elyria to cleveland is that will continue to decrease and a cooler weather pattern taking over. the 5 live radar is not taking up moisture. the eastern locations, you're sitting coverage and that high pressure works in from the west. that front is tracking east fairly quickly here and that is going to allow us to see cooler weather. it's not us from denver to st. louis, the contours map and the darker greens slide across northeast ohio and allowing for a more seasonable and cooler weather pattern. the future cast is showing you hour-by-hour here. you can't rule out the

our earthcam. you can see the clouds up ahead. the sun is shining as well and should be a nice sunday for you as you continue your weekend and welcome back to good morning cleveland. i'm nick foley and we have several developing stories for you this morning, including a nearly six-hour standoff with police finally over in brooke park. meg shaw has new details about what went on inside that home. first, a check on that weather with janessa webb. >> and good morning, everybody. we're off to a great start and a cooler weather pattern if you we have lost it due to a cold front making its way across northeast ohio and temperatures right now, greater cleveland, 69 degrees and dew points, lower 60s and we're talking about the oppressive air and finally calming down. there is the breeze coming out of the west and whoever forecasting 15 to 20 miles per hour throughout the afternoon and some windy weather and that

county and upper 60s and cooler air for inland locations from mansfield to ashland and a lot of sunshine in store throughout your sunday. you can see the clouds to the east and some high pressure building for eerie-huron county and that is why they're sitting in partly sunny conditions right now and hour-by-hour, going to be a fantastic day to be out and about more comfortable conditions. folks, as the front continues to move south, we are not little bit of isolated activity. and now, nick, yesterday, we were in the upper 80s near 90s and look at the fall. daytime high of 76 for greater cleveland. >> and definitely a big difference. thank you, janessa. and dozens of law enforcement officers convincing on a home in brooke park overnight. after six hours, the standoff is over. neighbors and police left with a lot of questioning this

>> reporter: this neighborhood has been active this morning, especially here within the last hour or so and a lot of people driving by this house, slowing down and some stopping. a lot of neighbors on the street talking to one another and talking about what happened. and a lot of people say this is a quiet neighborhood. they never expected anything like this to happen. of course, that is the house where the standoff happened and you can see the windows shattered in the front door and a lot of debris in the front yard. a lot of unanswered questions at this point. going on from neighbors i am hearing. it started around 7:00 saturday evening and police tell us they responded to the neighborhood after they got a call saying a man was shot. now, moments later, the shooter being identified by neighbors to me, 37-year-old carl atkins, they say he barricaded himself inside the home here on richard drive. and now, police and s.w.a.t. teams tried to negotiate with atkins for six hours and sent a robot inside of his home. and that is when they found him

gun. and as for the man who atkins shot, we're not getting any new details about his condition. the only thing we're being told this morning is that he was taken to metro health medical center for his injuries. we're not getting any updates about that or anything else. if he knew adkips or how he knew if they -- atkins or how he knew everyone each other and there are a lot of a sudden -- ansinnerrad questions. >> and a -- unanswered questions. and if you commute on the rta green line, you will have to take a bus to work tomorrow. a huge sinkhole opened up under the tracks. maintenance workers were working on the line when's four foot hole opened up. hey told us a piece of heavy construction equipment fell into that hole. until it's fixed, they will run buses instead. >> and four people were charged with drug trafficking.

pill mills. more than a million doses of amphetamines were sold at the clinics. three employees, including a doctor and a nurse charged. the clinics have been closed since last year. and several west virginia residents are recovering after a turn of events that is eerily similar to what happened in akron on july 4th weekend. the officials say at least 26 people overdosed on heroin in a four-hour period this week. all of the overdoses happen radius and they believe the drug was laced with a powerful chemical. in akron, it was discovered an animal sedative was cut with the batch of heroin. and health officials issuing a warning about that powerful drug combination. and a local lab detected car fentanol in some heroin this week. and last month, it cost more than 100 overdoses and eight

more information about the 8 family members murdered in pike county. he believes whoever killed the family was familiar with the victims and the homes. investigators believe that those living in the area know more about the murders than they're telling investigators. the investigation is ongoing into the april murders. >> and we in toledo, landlords are going to have to make changes to older buildings. the new law requires properties build before 1978 to be inspected for lead before can be rented. properties where child care is provided need inspections and that goes into affect in january. and an ohio farmer is being warned about a take beerual disease -- that could impact their herd. they tested positive for bovine tuberculosis. cows can get the highly contagious disease and farmers are asked to make sure they can't come into contact with wild animals and hunters should

. and good morning, everybody. we're finished seeing off your weekend on the good side. look at the sunshine for greater cleveland and the clouds are working west. the lake geauga county, you're seeing overcast skies and western locations starting off your morning with a ton of sunshine across the board. the temperatures are cooler and get behind them, this afternoon and we're looking 76 and some breezy weather out of the west, 10 to 15 miles per hour and i know you have been wanting to hit the golf course and this issy special for you and by noon, we're at 72 and still tracking isolated raindrops. all in all, not a bad day to get there. >> and this is providing lots of options and check out the pictures, janessa, of a tornado touching down north of dayton.

their side. and some eerie images there. >> i got a phone call. i was -- had been told how much damage it was. i was prepared for it and when i got home, still nothing prepares you for this. >> and this is part of a line of storms that passed over us and it was significantly weakened by the time it hit the cleveland area and janessa is back on track to talk to you about this and we have some fridge and common here. >> reporter: we have had a couple of warnings last year and no tornado warning this year but we're in the peak of severe weather season and of people starting to get laxed. august and september and that is when things really start to rev up and last night, ahead of the cold front, were some cells that had damaging winds and allowed for that tornado to really touch down. >> and while they don't come here that often, they need to

. 10:44 on your sunday. moving to politics with under three months before the november election. new reports show hillary clinton is way ahead of donald trump when it comes to campaign spending. finance cu campaign spent over $18 million in july while the clinton campaign spent about 38 million. the reports show the gop's biggest donors have yet to put the money behind trump. in all, trump's campaign brought in about 37 million while clinton raised $52 million. and meantime, clinton's future campaign raising won't involve leonardo dicaprio. at least for the short-term. he was scheduled to host a fund raiser for clinton but a source

>> and since the rnc, 60 new leads came in and 10 came in the last week. and i would say at least half of those were influenced by the media coverage and positive stories about cleveland. >> reporter: and as important as the number of leads is the number of people each convention would bring. >> the size of the piece of the business we're looking at are larger than a year ago. >> reporter: now hilton hotel has been the major recipient of the first wave of conventions, including one this weekend, bringing it 800 one next with 1,000. come september, there are bigger citywide conventions like content marketing world that brings in 3500 people. a show that several years ago outgrew cleveland. >> and that is a sample of a show that had to leave our city after 2011 because we don't have enough hotel rooms. now, we can stay with the growth and successfully am the group the next few -- handle the group the next few years. >> reporter: with democracy 2016, i'm john kosich. enjoy your sunday.
