a four-year-old child. meg shaw has the latest. >> reporter: police tell me that no weather calls of common sense 11:00 last night for overdose cases. however, that is not to say that it is not happening here in akron. in just nine hours on friday, 24 overdose cases were recorded here in akron. they say it's because of a, quote, bad batch of heroin. in one of the cases, found a child wandered off when parents in the house were being treated for overdoses. this can have a lifelong effect on children. >> sadly there is a need for an ongoing service. you come in and meet with someone one or 2 tensioner out the door, it's not that anymore. good morning everyone. we are tracking a line of storms moving across our viewing area, beginning at 3 am this morning. the good news is it has moved in and out. there is nothing on the severe side that was just round one. we are tracking severe weather potential around 3:00 mid to early evening. our biggest threats will be heavy down floors -- downpours, gully washers across our roadways are possible. we are looking at 35 to 45 mile an hour winds with these storms. this is a cold front that is going to track through. we're going to have more comfortable temperatures for sunday afternoon.

we start this half-hour with a live look outside. we can see some blue skies over downtown cleveland but the question is, how long will it be there. we have several developing stories including an alarming increase in overdoses in summit county. we have more on that coming up but first a check on the weather. good morning everybody. we are off to a pretty dry start . we have already seen one round of rain move across our area. things are now starting to die down before the next round of rain moves in for the late afternoon and early evening. you have probably noticed the

a health scare for some downtown cleveland workers, toxic dust used to treat box may have made some of them sick now there is concern that members of the public have been exposed. nine workers of the social security office inside this building downtown reported nausea, diarrhea and vomiting on february 19. in newsday reports that it may be due to pesticide dust that was sprayed treatment. there's also a concern that the public that was in that office that day were exposed. >> i have a right to know if i was in this office and became ill and didn't know why. >>the company that did the exterminating did not respond to our request for comment. the social security administration is talking with health experts to find out what to do next.

-- lower 70s which is not playing nice. this will continue to crank up throughout the afternoon as the front makes its way through. we are seeing me warm air tracking and from the south. i was tracking widespread rain at about 1 am through the 6:00 a.m. hour. we are seeing just a few isolated rain drops moving throughout northern summit county but moving in and out, you can see them fading away right now. hudson, you're probably noticing some raindrops but it will be moving out quickly. this is the bulk of the moisture which will continue to slide from west to east. it is moving in with warm air in place. that is going to spark up some severe storms throughout the afternoon and evening. you can see as the front moves through, we will lose the thunderstorm activity by 10:00 and just have widespread rain at that point.

the lower 60s by tomorrow morning. >> thank you janessa. there seems to be no end in sight to the growing heroin epidemic. there were well over a dozen overdose calls in akron along -- alone the last 24 hours. meg shaw is following that story. this is getting worse by the day. what is the latest? >> reporter: police in akron say heroin laced with fentanyl is responsible for 24 overdoses in 9 hours. look at this truck. the driver crashed into a pole in the parking lot of a chapel hill mall hitting a guardrail and minutes later it was on fire. when police arrived on the scene, he was passed out and

truck. luckily he made it out alive but is now left with serious burns. it didn't stop there on friday. on canton road police tell us they found a suspected overdose victim lying on the sidewalk and yet another victim was found in the parking lot of a dairy queen on pridgen wrote. may be the most disturbing case of them all was a three-year- old that was wandering through the neighborhood while three adults were being treated for overdoses. i did talk with akron police this morning and they say no overdose calls have come in since about 11:00 friday night. however, they are keeping a close eye on this terrifying situation. we will keep you updated on what happens. live in akron, meg shaw newschannel five. >> that's a horrible problem that just keeps coming in waves. because children are having so much exposure to these drugs, schools are bringing awareness to this issue. the 50 minute educational video was made to show students grades four through 12. the theme of the video is the first time could be your last,
