elapsed since 9/11. this is hard to believe but it has. >> each 9/11 of each year we look back and reflect. >> two moments of silence already opened at the 9/11 memorial in new york city marking the exact time each plane hit the twin towers. in washington president obama just addressed the families and friends of the pentagon attack. back at home -- in northeast ohio, a short ceremony held a short >> tsa, and others came together to remember the fallen. a moment of silence at checkpoint b followed by the national anthem and "amazing grace." you can see a part of our nation's history at the shops at parma beginning today as well one of the beams left standing from the attack at the world trade center will be unveiled this afternoon as part of a special memorial service. the design of the permanent display was made to represent the trade center as it was

blood drive also scheduled from 11:00 to 3:00. in painesville the 9/11 never forget project placing one flag for every person killed in the attacks. the memorial began earlier with honor guard, 21-gun salute and tribute from the mentor high school choir. also included a 5k, proceeds to an organization that helps kids interested in becoming police officers or firefighters. 9/11 tributes continued in medina steven siller tunnel to towers 5k run. these are pictures from the event this morning. the tunnel-to-towers foundation started by the family of new york city firefighter steven siller who on september 11th ran through the battery tunnel from brooklyn to the world trade center where he lost his life. the run and walk in medina started 8:00 this morning. as you can see some of the firefighters and police officers actually ran in their turnout response gear as a sign of respect.

heartbreak and horror 15 years ago today. the impact of the september 11th terror attacks still piercing through the haunting recollections. >> as we crawled in deeper squeezing through tiny openings and into a smoke-filled environment we came to the understanding that we are going to die in that pile. >> and lingering effects. 127 new york city firefighters who stayed at ground zero in the days and weeks followed the attacks searching heroically through the toxic debris have since died of respiratory and other ailments. >> nagging problems, worsened became acute. the number of those lost to the terrorist attack of september 11th began to grow. >> reporter: 17 new names added to the fdny's memorial wall this year while again the other names etched into history are read allowed.

brief reprieve. if you're missing the heat it will return in the form of 80- degree temperatures. then we're back to the 70s after that. we'll talk more about it later. some people are waking up this morning without power. at one point yesterday's storms put 7,000 customers in the dark. we are checking firstenergy's outage map. right now 500 are still affected. we'll keep you updated. akron fire working to find out what caused this second alarm fire picture a few hours ago of multiple trucks at ellet high school. investigators say when crews responded 11:00 last night to go room-to-room to find the blaze. a ventilation truck was called in to help clear the smoke. we're working to find out more information about that damage. two ohio football teams are scheduled to face off this afternoon after a serious threat cancelled the game friday night. just an hour before kickoff.

first i'll show you why we're seeing what we are seeing. a cold front pushed through, brought us storms yesterday evening. high pressure dominates now and that will allow us to see a lot of sunshine for your sunday. that's what we're in for. as for the next couple of hours we stay dry but see the temperatures not really going much of anywhere, 8:00 p.m. already on the decline back to the cooler numbers. 60s. notice quickly, see how we go through the 40s, 6:45 a.m. tomorrow morning. then we start to rise into tomorrow morning. and then the upper 70s by tomorrow afternoon. it's not going to be forever that we're going to be in the cool temperatures. in fact here's a look at the next few days. i want to show you something -- notice the temperature trend overall today. looking at the low to mid-70s -- that should be 72, not 78. 79 on monday. we do rebound getting a little bit of heat on tuesday to the low to mid-80s so. that will be comfortable. wednesday we do have that threat for showers and storms

forecast. and beyond. as we head to the next seven days, notice where we're faring. in the 70s. so yes, fall is around the corner. that autumnal equinox occurs september 22nd so we're fast approaching it. i feel just yesterday i made my new year's resolutions that i have to carry over into next year because it doesn't look like any of them held through. stick around.
