he was questioned and released. at this point he remains a person of interest. as for hawkins, police are trying to figure out if he is connected to any other unsolved burglaries in the fairlawn area. bob jones, news channel 5. >> thank you, bob. this man in this photograph is head today jail. james accord was behind the wheel in this car in east liverpool. he was passed out from drugs along with a female passenger. all the old child in the backseat. east liverpool police shared the photo on social media. they hope to drive home the dangers of heroin addiction. the woman here is rhonda pasic the boy's mother. accord pleaded no contest to endangering children. the judge gave him 360 days in jail. rhonda pasic plead not guilty to child endangerment and disorderly conduct, but she's due in court on thursday.

epidemic takes place in ohio. >> the good samaritan law. if you call 911 to report an overdose, they cannot be arrested or charged for minor drug offenses. the goal is to stop people that call or run or they don't call at all when they witness the overdose. today ohio's attorney general discusses the severity of the heroin epidemic. >> this is hitting ever you know, no economic group that is free of this problem, race, sex, age, and that it is unlike any epidemic that i have ever seen and it is everywhere. under the good samaritan law, that they can only claim immunity twice. and that they will not get any at all. they are taking heroin on the brand new focus. they created a new position in

and related to the prescription drug abuse. understanding narcan distribution. and any other drugs that can cause overdoses. cincinnati has seen 300 overdo three weeks. closer to home the summit county medical examiner is investigating a deadly weekend, which saw at least eight deaths believed to be caused by overdoses. that number is in addition to dozens of other confirmed and possible overdoses that did not turn deadly. all weekend emss responded to the restaurant drive thrus, sidewalks, and homes for overdose calls. investigators think that the heroin in these cases were

tranquilizer carfentanil. owners are getting records of overdose victims. there is a vital service finding itself short staffed. offices are struggling to fill positions as more doctors look for work in the private sector, which means coroner offices could lose national accreditation, damaging their credibility when testifying in court as well as family members who are having to wait longer for the which could delay their insurance payouts. people across northeast ohio are still cleaning up from saturday's severe weather in overland. a historic golf club saw significant damage to their century old trees. today many of their members put away the clubs and they got out the chain sauce. on a perfect day for golf, members of the overland golf club were tallying up their

severe storms on saturday, damage or took down hundreds of trees. >> i could not believe it actually. it was devastation truthfully. it was like a freight train coming through. most of my guys were inside the clubhouse, which we had very little damage to. >> reporter: they say that 60 trees came down. many of them like this huge old oak as old as the club founded in 1899. >> this one if particular, it did not break as it got picked up right out of the ground, which i can not -- which i cannot believe. >> they estimate that 400 trees are damaged or broken. more than 30 volunteers came out here today to help put the cord back together. >> there is a lot to do for sure. >> reporter: long-time members say it is not surprising that everyone is pitching in to help.

review it to see what was seen on the camera as they would take it from there. >> reporter: the video is given to police who could issue $250 tickets plus court costs. >> i have a camera that goes directly towards their license plate to identify the owner of the vehicle. >> the cameras outside the school bus would help the bay village school catch six drivers since the end of last school year and so far this year. but even with all these warnings, some drivers, they when they warn drivers that they are getting on and off the bus. inspite of the flashing lights and the strobe lights that come out, i guess sometimes they're in a hurry or something. >> and now when it comes to the cameras being outside their school buses, they appear to be in a class by itself. i called several school systems from amhurst to cleveland, to beechwood. none of them have this camera system yet.

threats against a brunswick senior. now the naacp, brunswick school, and police are investigating. the case started in a football locker room quickly spreading to social media. the social members are now saying that they are living in fear. here is our tara molina with the latest. >> reporter: guys, rodney atkins family and the naacp met with brunswick police this afternoon. they are investigating what may be considered hate speech. posts snapchats are a part of what rodney and his family and the naacp met with brunswick police. we slurred the racial comments. rodney n word n word, n word. threats to his family that they never thought they would see. >> it is very, very serious. i feel like no family should have to go through that at all. >> reporter: it all started in

or newsnet5.com. in brunswick tara molina news channel 5. >> thank you, tara. the animal shelter was forced to euthanize at least 50 degrees over the weekend. the franklin county dog shelter says that at least one of the dogs would have this temper as a deadly and highly contagious disease. they were also showing symptoms, dragging on the rest of their dogs in isolation, they could only have limited contact with humans for four to six weeks. there about when your child is sick now. there is another worry added to that list. a study from new york university says that 80 personal -- 80% of parents make a mistake. most give their children too much or too little. the mistakes could lead to overdoses. it is because that most parents, they use a cup or a spoon to measure. the study says you should use an oral syringe for the best measurements.

facing charges in another state. love robinson tried to buy a $35,000 car at a dealership. employees say he was with an older woman who claims was his god mother. she used her social security number and information to co- sign for the car without her permission. employees were suspicious and they called police. the teenager then confessed he was out on bond for practicing medicine without a license in florida. police then learned that he used that woman's credit card to buy two ipads and a cell phone the day before. now dr. love or the young man accused of impersonating a doctor is in jail again in virginia held without bond. now all new at 5:00 a canadian judge may be removed from the bench for the way that he treated a woman during a rape trial. the 19-year-old said that she was raped over a bathroom sink during a house party in 2014. judge robin camp now a federal
