many still elated at the thought of taking home emmy gold. >> to be here and to be nominated, having the show nominated is a wonderful time for us and all involved. >> this feels good when you know you're in a race with people who have put in the work and are a part of something special. >> you work so hard and you get to celebrate on a different level with a >> it's the night of your life happening every day for a week. >> there is nothing like that feeling. george: some still in shock to be invited. >> i was nominated last year and i thought it was a fluke. what if they figure out i'm in this category? >> i didn't know anybody was going to see it.

netflix is running it. george: who doesn't love to party with their peers. >> huge fans of each other. we kind of all say oh, my gosh. you get to become friends with everybody, too. the emmys are a fun one. it's always fun. it's like being in a dreamland. it's very exciting, yes. george: there is a celebration going on here for the awards. we don't know yet who will win them, but there is always a second competition happening here. that is who is best dressed. so for that analysis, we have leslie lopez andndnd roshumba williams up in our fashion skyway keeping their eyes on everything related to it what people are wearing. leslie: you know, we have been seeing some of television's biggest names glide down that red carpet and one of them, mario lopez. we want to see what you think

there he is, he is looking nice. roshumba williams, supermodel, style expert, critique his look for us. roshumba: mario brings old school hollywood glam to the mannered day. he is doing this in the slim fit tux and his favorite accessory is his smile. leslie: people at home are giving it a seven. we send it over to pop sugar, meg, meg: we have been seeing a lot of black, red, chokers, everything is looking sleek and sophisticated. haven't seen any big ball gowns yet. anita: everyone is looking very modern. she is a 10. meg: it's such a big trend right now, people are treading very carefully before they jump both feet in.
5:34 pm
george and see his opinion on this. george: we're going to take a look at another one of our polls, best actress in a drama series, look down to see what our results are. i think a lot of people are curious about this particular category and it looks like we got, oh, the polls aren't in yet? there we go, viola davis, 58, changing quickly, still ahead. it's like watching a horse race, taraji p. henson, those are the maybe that's what it's going to be like. maybe those women or those men who win the emmys will just skate by on getting the emmys. it's such a competitive year here. one of the shows that's always done well is "modern family." this is the sixth year in a row that the show has been up for best comedy series and one of the greatest things about "modern family" has been watching all of the kids on the show grow up before our eyes
5:35 pm
"modern family" kids first walked the emmy red carpet in 2010. rico rodriguez and ariel winter were only 12 years old. nolan just about to hit that milestone. two years later, these three were old pros, are you nervous? >> i am not. george: for aubrey anderson evans, 2012 was her emmy debut, the then ultimate accessory, a stuffed animal and a matching dress. after the show's big win, aubrey got a lift from tv dad eric stonestreet in the press room. >> i'm excited to be here. he have year is even better. george: by 2013, they were full-on teenagers and ariel struck perfect poses on the carpet, her tv brother was dealing with one of the more
5:36 pm
>> jokes about my voice. george: and little aubrey showed up with her stuffed animal. george: fast forward two years and our teens had turned into dapper gents and a gramor girl and aubrey showed off new bling, braces. there are hundreds of reporters and photographers here all in the waiting game, waiting for that first star to step on to the red carpet. let's show you what the red carpet looks like. it's quite it's 1,325 feet long, the longest ever in emmy history. as soon as people pass me and the first live interview position on the carpet, they are greeted by about 100 still photographers who snap away and get those photographs out to the world within seconds if you can believe it. and then after that, there are 155 other interview positions on the carpet which means if you're a celebrity, you have
5:37 pm
the emmys. as you pass by the big emmy statue that's down the ways a little bit, right about at the eyeline to the top of the statue is where you'll find our fashion skyway with leslie lopez and roshumba williams. the stars hang a left and pass several other crews and finally page it into the microsoft theater and enjoy a three-hour show for the most part off of thei governor's ball. we'll be back with more "on the red carpet at the emmys" in just a little bit. announcer: what are you binge watching? >> the last thing i binge watched was "stranger things."
5:40 pm
announcer: we are back this red carpet is heating up, not just the temperature which is pretty darn hot, our mercedes benz fashion cam gives us our first look at the stars when they arrive. mercedes benz, the best or nothing. george: how is this for timing, we showed the more than family stars growing up, here he is almost 18-year-old nolan gould here again. does this get old or is it still fun? >> it's still fun. i think actually there is an element where it gets more fun
5:41 pm
really still? still nominated, you guys still like it. thanks everyone for watching at home supporting us. george: you look dapper tonight. why don't you critique your look from 2010 when you walked the red carpet here. what do you think of yourself? >> oh, my gosh, i'm so adorable, what happened. i'm so like weird and manly now, i'm a weird man child. ariel is trying to get me to pose right, i don't know what to do. we were so cute. you can see my fashion. i was wearing a white pinstripe suit with white polka dots, what were you doing? this is a better look, this is ted baker. it looks good. i don't know what i was doing back then. george: your show is back up again for best comedy series. you know what it's like to see that victory out there. do you ever expect anything coming here, or is it just a good time? >> of course we don't expect anything. i think the first year, you
5:42 pm
were going to tie the emmys most won i think for comedy series. that feels amazing. now that we have done that, we don't feel the need to prove ourselves. i know i'm just going to be dancing tonight, the first dance i find, let loose, it's a long week. george: when does "modern family" come back to our airwaves? >> check your local listings. soon. i think it's two weeks from now. no, wait, it's this wednesday, it's this george: that's the right answer, it's this wednesday. nolan gould from "modern family," thank you for joining us. let's join the amazing fashion women, leslie lopez and roshumba williams. leslie: i love nolan. roshumba: the gorgeous curls he used to have. leslie: we are talking fashion. the celebrities are pouring in. we have style expert and model roshumba williams with us. we want to know what you think

smith, go to otrc.com/vote and right now you can rate her fashion for one to 10. roshumba williams, you have to rate here, i know it's hard, she is a friend of "on the red carpet," a "good morning america" contributor or a close friend of yours. can you be unbiased? roshumba: we used to go dress shopping for the award shows. here we go. i think rachel is on trend. she has a very edgy modern dres what takes it over the top are the red earrings and the beautiful cutout in the center. we saw that all over the runways this season. leslie: mismatch, one red, one black, beautiful there. gorge, sending it to you. george: of all of the performances this past year, i think niese nash's is one of my favorites. you made me cry in episode, you always make me laugh. you thought it was one of the best roles you have ever had.
5:44 pm
especially happy that i'm celebrating with lawrie metcalf who is also nominated for this series. i couldn't be more excited. george: a time in your life where you made us laugh and then your world opened up and changed for hollywood. >> they were very polite and now i have been able to show another side of it and it's opened up a whole new world for i chicken scratched a picture of my dress on my kid's notebook paper before i was a working actor. i am going to win an award in this dress. i brought the dress to life with the help of christian. i should win something, the person with the cutest shoes, cried on cue, i better win something. george: you get the award for
5:45 pm

5:50 pm
she is giving us her glam in the hourglass shape, beautiful sweetheart neckline with that flowing draped detail, gorgeous. that is one of the things we saw on the runways, a lot of draping. leslie: let's send it over to george. george: one word i can use right now, stunning, torrei kelly who is performing on the show in a segment i always like because it pays respect to those we lost. it's always one of those, think. >> i'm honored that they asked me to do it. i get to sing "hallelujah, me and a guitar. i'm honored. it's my first time at the emmys, just thrilled to be here. george: you have been on a lot of red carpets in your career. you can see this one is a little wild, is that the best word? >> i was going to say the opposite. everyone is so done up and glamorous, there is a

5:56 pm
but they are about to. i'm wearing a purse that was made for me by a wonderful artist named anthony luciano. alexander made the dress for me. i absolutely love it. there are jimmy choo shoes and we have covered the whole thing. anything else you want to know? george: you have fun at the emmys. judith light. we'll cover the fashion world wi roshumba and leslie. leslie: hey there, we are critiquing one of her co-stars, roshumba, what are you rating her look? >> she is fresh, young and girly in this gold strapless tiered gown with the fringe detail. young hollywood has a tendency to wear a shorter length. it's young and modern and fresh, she is a millennial. leslie: people at home are rating a six. you can go to otrc.com/vote. george, over to you.
