. good afternoon. this is leon bibb. bombings in new york and new across the country. the manhunt for a person wanted for questioning in connection with all of the attacks has come to a dramatic end. ray reymund six in the chelsea neighborhood and is following the story. this story prompted a discussion and debate and comment from both presidential campaigns of clinton and of trump. they are looking at it closely, so, too, are police looking at it closely.

report seconds away. here's ray reymundi telling us what they have about somebody who has been called. -- caught. >> reporter: 48 hours after the first explosion happened here, the new york metropolitan area, a suspect is finally in custody. this is as investigators continue to search this area after the first explosion happened here in manhattan. 28-year-old ahmad ramani, a suspect wanted for questioning new jersey new in police custody after a shootout with police in new jersey. >> and we're going to bring him to justice. in the meantime, we going to keep new yorkers safe. >> reporter: federal agents moving in, searching through his home in elizabeth, new jersey. the same city where another explosion took place overnight. the bomb squad trying to defuse one of five devices found in the backpack when it exploded. and this is while authorities

verrazano bridge where fbi agents found five men and detained them. the explosion in manhattan, the chaos all happening on a balmy saturday night. law enforcement officials moving rapidly and piecing together the investigation. >> and the evident we collected is taken to our lab at quantico for our review, and we're following every viable lead as we work jointly with the nypd. >> reporter: investigators are slowly looking at the dumpster, twitted and mangled in the aftermath of from the detonation of a pipe bomb in seaside park, new jersey, to the chelsea explosion, investigators were able to track rahami from a cell phone to aup detonated pressure cooker, discov -- discovered a few blocks away from the chelsea bombing. now that he is in custody, investigators are trying to determine whether or not he acted alone or was part of a network of terror. ray reymu in, di, new york. back to you. >> and thank you.

story all day long. and. new at the noon hour here, this story as well. a suspected serial killer was back in the courtroom today. he is answering to murder and kidnap charges. meg shaw is in ashland county, ohio, with the latest on the case of shawn grate. >> reporter: today, shawn grate pleaded not guilty to murder and kidnapping charges here at the ashland county common pleas courthouse. the 40-year-old waving his right to a speedy appeared via skype with his appointed lawyer and is currently being held at the ashland county jail for the murders of stacy stanley and elizabeth griffith. the police discovered their bodies last week in a vacant home after a woman called 911 saying grate was holding her against her will and he then led police to a third body in richland county and so far, no charges were filed in that county. and a police source tells us

found that message and it was in a restroom and they found it on friday and the message referenced a columbine-style shooting. the police continue their investigation and, of course, we stay on top of the local story. and right now, police in northeast ohio are investigating a rash of attempted smash-and-grabs in the area. the latest at the hands of criminals so bold, they made their moves across the street from the police station. the scene of the attempted smash-and-grab was at gas usa and directly across from the university circle police department. there was another at the same timed smash-and-grab as well and it was at the lope max store on shardin road and euclid avenue. you can see the atm and van sitting in the parking lot. >> and another at east 74th street and severe avenue. and we found two holes in the building and gasoline everywhere. a minivan was left in the parking lot and there is noy word on if all are related. of course, local police are on

. this is the scene in many areas of the american southland and there is a gasoline shortage in six states. last night in atlanta and north georgia, there were lines of drivers trying to get the last of the gas. leading up to the gasoline shortage in six southern states was a spill at a key pipeline in alabama and was shut down 10 days ago. the company is scrambling to get it back online. georgia have declared states of emergency and gas prices are spiking and drivers are rushing to fill up if they can and that is before other gas stations run out of gas. >> and i need my gas. i said i will fill up today and park the car ited and make sure i have enough until wednesday. >> and the cohonual gasoline pipeline in alabama provides for an estimated 50 million automobiles every day.
