it was that kind of a night. >> kirk: this is a huge win for stanford but i think it's also big for them for the big picture. it's only their third game of the year. think about what they've done here in the early going. they've played a kansas state team, usc and now ucla. they've been challenged. i think as you look at this team as a threat to maybe win a pac 12 championship and maybe a playoff team, you actually need there are a lot of players that are playing as we saw in that final drive that have never been out here. when you make these plays, it gives you such confidence when you can face adversity and come through. not only did they beat ucla on the road, it gives them incredible confidence and momentum going into next friday in seattle which will be another tough conference game against the huskies. >> chris: another big challenge

live always investigating, always on your side, newschannel5 starts now. >> a crazy scene on a busy downtown cleveland street. a man was tasered and arrested assaulted a cop. hello, everybody. thanks for joining us. this all happened late friday night outside of a restaurant on prospect avenue and east 9th street. new today we are learning brand new information about the off-duty police officer involved. >>reporter: tracy, that off-duty police officer is out of the hospital tonight and back home resting after he was pushed right through that window.

take-down [ screaming ] >>reporter: tazed and tackled, officers pounce on 23-year-old brian brag of canton shortly after they said he shoved an off-duty cleveland police officer so hard he fell right through the window. he and his underage girlfriend were thrown out of the restaurant after an officer said she was spotted drinking a getting carded. this incident report says they were asked to leave multiple times before the officer was pushed through the window and the man ran away. the officer was bleeding profusely with blood on his face, head, and left arm. >> he received a number of stitches but i guess he's going to be all right. >>reporter: the co-owner of the restaurant told me the officer injured has worked security here for some time. newschannel5 has learned the officer's name but we're not

his privacy. >> disturbing. i'm alarmed. i want to make sure everybody is okay, all the patrons are okay and the first concern is the officer. >>reporter: they got a call just before midnight about the scuffle that cost him business on a busy friday night after a big indians' win. >> it hurts. you don't want attention drawn to your business for these sort of circumstances [ screaming ] >>reporter: officers took down the man after witnesses at the a list of charges including felonious assault on a police officer, vandalism, resisting arrest and criminal trespass. >> and as you can see the restaurant is back open tonight. the window still needs to be replaced. the owner tells me he's going to do that on monday. >> and breaking right now, police in charlotte, north carolina just released two videos of the deadly encounter

tuesday's shooting has sparked violent protests. the report says new images may only add to the controversy and a warning you might find some of these pictures disturbing. >>reporter: in a dash cam video the frantic final moments of the fatal stand-off as recorded by police. keith scott is seen exiting his vehicle and walking backwards, his hands down. then [ shots fired ] >> we got shots fired. one suspect down. >>reporter: this body cam video partially silent has another perspective. an officer wields a baton in an apparent effort to get scott out of his vehicle. scott is seen briefly standing in the parking lot. then the 43-year-old is seen lying wounded as police advance with guns drawn. officers appear to administer first aid. >> we need to hold the wound. >>reporter: police have confirmed to abc news this gun pictured at the scene is the gun they say they recovered from scott.

we see, he absolutely was in possession of a handgun. >>reporter: police always released this photo of what they say is scott's gun, and an ankle holster they say he was wearing. investigators say that testing on the gun police say they found at the scene allegedly matches scott's fingerprints, dna, and blood. lawyers for scott's family continue to cast doubt on the police account. >> he doesn't lun j at hands by his side. again there is no definitive evidence in this video as to whether or not there is an object in his hands [ chanting ] >>reporter: the streets of charlotte swelled with protesters for a fifth night. the demonstration on saturday was mostly peaceful. abc news, charlotte, north carolina. >> the naacp is calling for an independent investigation into police-involved shootings in columbus.

carrying a gun that turned out to be a bb gun. 13-year-old king was laid to rest saturday in columbus. hundreds of mourners came to pay their respects to the eighth grader. king was shot multiple times by a police officer after he took out a bb gun that looked like a real firearm. during that service, the pastor demanded a better future for kids. >> each one of us as individuals have a certain sphere of influence and we s influence to teach our children and to continue to guide them away from violence or the appearance of it. >> the police officer who shot and killed king is on leave pending the investigation. tonight we are learning at least seven people died saturday from drug overdoses right here in cuyahoga county. the county's medical examiner has issued a public health warning your honoring those struggling with addiction to seek help immediately.

facebook shows cleveland firefighters trying to revive a man who apparently overdosed on heroin. he passed out in his car in front of a barber shop. employees performed cpr on the man until help arrived. and new information on a body found in the trunk of a car. police have a woman in custody involved in the crime. they found human remains inside the vehicle. the name of the victim and cause released. and that's after just one of five homicides in cleveland in the last 24 hours. the vool he knows started friday morning when a man was killed in a shootout in a gas station. police say another man was found dead inside an abandoned home. a third victim was shot sitting inside his car and a fourth man died saturday morning in a drive-by shooting. no arrests have been made in

talking a major cool down for us here. northeast ohio i'm sure you felt it all throughout the afternoon today as temperatures only warmed into the lower 70s. quite a change from the upper 80s that we had on that first day of fall and the first full official day of fall on friday. right now, noticeably cooler. 11 degrees cooler in cleveland than even yesterday at this time. we are 15 degrees colder in elyria, akron, ashtabula, ravenna, and canton, too. so what does it feel stepping outside? a lot of 50s. i do expect 40s to start your sunday morning. 5 had in medina now and 49 already in ashtabula. certainly the cool spots. 60 in cleveland and new philadelphia to a cooler 54. 51 in ravenna. so those overnight lows are on the chilly side. under clear skies tomorrow we'll see some sunshine taking over again and that will help warm us

breaking right now, washington state police just arrested a man in connection with that deadly shooting inside aho reporting a 20-year-old was taken into custody but his identity is not known tonight. police have been searching for a gunman dressed in black who took off on foot after opening fire friday night inside a macy's store killing five people. this man and his wife were there when the chaos broke out. they not only saw the gun man but the victims, too. >> i saw two ladies that were on

and then there was another lady right next to her, i checked for a pulse. she didn't have any. >> police have not released a motive for this shooting. it is also unclear whether the victims were specifically targeted. turning now to the race for 2016, the first presidential debate now just 2 days away. hillary clinton and donald trump will go head-to-head monday night at who have stra university in new york. tonight we're learning mr. may invite a special combes. he tweeted he will bring jennifer flowers to the debate. she is the woman who had an affair with bill clinton decades ago. his taunt is in response to mark cuban's taunt to sit in the front row. cuban has been a credit i can of trump throughout this campaign. and bill clinton will be back in ohio to campaign for his wife. the former president is

>> it really was. beautiful blue skies. we started out with a little added cloud cover but it gave way to full on blue skies and it was wonderful so we hope all those runners are resting peacefully and nice and comfortably. tomorrow they will still be resting a little bit but i have some more weather to look forward to outside if you want to take a run yourself. let's look at ashtabula, they had some clouds but akron is where all the action sunshine and sunset, too. how beautiful. we will see a lot of stars tonight. expecting to find temperatures really dropping off though. it's the lack of cloud cover that kind of acts like a blanket keeping in the warmth of the day. well, it's allowed to quickly move away so already 54 for us tonight. dewpoint down to 46 which is a measure of moisture in the air and we certainly do not have much moisture.

thunderstorm is here, especially for monday afternoon. we can see all the reds, the yellows and oranges staying to the north. but especially here close to the lake, about one or 2:00 o'clock, hopefully the kids are off the bus with no problems but probably you will want to send them with the umbrella on monday or at least the rain gear, and a little afternoon shower, light activity that's going to try and stick around for the next couple days. now, depending upon if this front completely clears, we will of coming in and out of the forecast, but the hope is that it does actually clear home and we get a chance to see some sunshine and some better fall temperatures, too. rainfall could be impressive, though, talking about a quarter inch to a half inch, if we can bring the moisture back. right now we are dry, but dry weather is good coaster weather and sunday at sandusky we have a high of 70 degrees and mostly sunny.
