were missing and that she needed to come with them. >> they are terrified that their kids could be next. >> reporter: and tonight the search for a dangerous predator intensifies after a terrifying attack on a 9-year-old girl in massillon. >> the child was abducted by a man who posed as a police officer and then sexually assaulted her. bob jones has new details on the investigation. but first bob, what do you know about the girl's condition? >> reporter: well danita, th brought here to their children's hospital to be examined following the attack and that she has injuries to her face. tonight the real police are ?? trying to track down a fake cop who has frightened massillon. >> reporter: the 9-year-old girl left the downtown public library around 6:00 p.m. on monday. but heading towards home, a man in a pick up approached near second street and cherry road, earning the girl's trust by pretending to be a cop. >> she just said that he had

he just said he was a police officer. he didn't have a uniform on. he just stated that he was a police officer and that her parents, they told them that she was reported missing and had to go with them. >> reporter: police tell us that the victim was driven a short distance and sexually assaulted near their church. >> a very evil person to do this to a child. >> reporter: the attack is horrifying news to the pastor. >> the predator is here and that they are still there. and so it will it. >> reporter: the attacker let the girl go as she walked home, describing the suspect to police. a white man with a scruffy beard with skulls on the side of the pickup truck and the word ohio in the back window. >> this is high priority for us at this time. >> reporter: the detective tells me that he is following possible leads, notifying the police about the abduction, which happened very close.

but when it does happen it happens in a smaller city because there's a lot of kids here in massillon. >> i hope that this person is found and brought to justice. tonight that 9-year-old girl is expected to be released from the hospital soon. and in the meantime they tell me that they are moving towards trying to find surveillance video of the suspect, they may release their pictures this evening. news 5 wanted to know if there could be a connection between the case of massillon and other abductions in northeast ohio. the agents told us that while they conot appear to be similar that they will not rule anything out. >> late breaking developments in the search for a missing 12- year-old girl. she was found safe this afternoon at a home along the boulevard in euclid. police have been searching for

riding her bike on saturday. we don't have too many details, but we do know that they are waiting for a search warrant to be able to enter that euclid home. >> we now know what lead to the death of the high school football player in euclid. according to the medical examiner, andre jackson died from a bowel laceration passing away on sunday. >> please send please. my father shot her. >> reporter: a man now charged with murder after police say he killed his own daughter. police arrested the 63-year-old jamal mansour. officers say he shot 27-year- old tahani mansour twice in the head. her brother found her bleeding in her bedroom and called 911. >> oh my gosh she is bleeding. please come here, please. >> reporter: he passed away

the father jamal being held right now on $1 million bond. a cleveland mother and her son are charged with aggravated murder after police say that they killed the woman's boyfriend and then stuffed his body in the trunk of a car. >> the 40-year-old pleaded not guilty in court this morning. her son 18-year-old larry camp is still on the run. police found 43-year-old marvin kinney's body in a car behind their home on friday night. news 5 her family last night and they say that they found out about his death on social media. new tonight east cleveland getting help to keep their residence safe. receiving a federal grant allowing them to hire more firefighters. but paul kiska reports that those positions, they may only be temporary. >> reporter: east cleveland have had five firefighters working for their shifts for the past few months.

staffing levels are about to increase. a grant from the emergency agency will help them hire up to four additional firefighters per shift. bringing the total to 12 full- time firefighters, the city of 17,000 people. >> that is very good news. we've had tremendous funding issues, where we had to cut a number of things and the fire department and ems was the last thing >> the mayor told me today that they expect to hire the firefighters in the next 30 days. >> fortunately that the grant of $1.7 million really restores the type we had to make to the fire department. >> and we don't know what would happen after that.

that. they do help for a period of time. but once they run out they are on their own again. >> they will allow them to hire up to 15 part-time firefighters. in east cleveland paul kiska news 5. tonight we are learning that the second person has died after being injured in parma heights. 60-year-old nancy gielas passed away sunday. she had been in intensive care since the august 21 incident. she was one injured when a 74-year-old woman drove her car into a crowd. the 61-year-old of parma passed away a few days after the crash. the driver's name has not been released, charges are pending. we are digging into the recent surge of the smash and grab robberies here in northeast ohio. we have learned about a solution that is stopping thieves right in their class.
