. today, the man accused of kidnapping and raping a nine- year-old girl makes appearance in massillon court. thank you for joining yous. there is a good chance dennis menefee jr. will remain behind bars. the 46-year-old arraigned today in massillon municipal court, charged with first-degree felony kidnapping and rape of a minor under the age of 13. if convicted of both charges, he could face life in prison without a chance of parole. menefee's accused of posing as a police officer and abducting the girl on monday as she

massillon. the judge issued a million- dollar bond for each charge. >> and the type of seriousness of the changes and the risk of him doing this to another child, you know, that is $2 million that sets there. he's not going anywhere. >> he is next scheduled to appear in court october 7th. police credit the overwhelming support from the public on the description of his truck as the reason for his quick arrest. also in court, the driver indicted for killing ohio trooper kenny vellez. the bond set at $1 million today. josh gaspar is facing two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and a misdemeanor dui charge. gaspar hit vellez on september 15th. the trooper was standing outside of his cruiser at the time on i-90 in lakewood. and it happened again. right now, police are investigating another smash-and- grab theft in cleveland this morning. it happened at the convenient food mart at the corner of west

arts district. the relatives of the owners tell news 5 the atm was taken after a stolen minivan was used to smash into the front door. that mini van was left in the parking lot running. so far, police have not released any information on a possible suspect. and the trending crime has hit hard in cleveland barely a day goes by without news of another smash-and-grab. it's costing business owners thousands of dollars in wants to take a stand by introducing a bill that would require atms to go along a brick or concrete wall in stores and lower the amount of money kept inside the machine. patton hopes to fast track the bill and says that if it's not ready for a vote at the end of the year, he's confident it will be ready by next february. the latest house down there, her front window got shot out and her back window got hit, too.

. cancelled for a suburban cincinnati school district after a woman said she was attacked by a creepy clown. the so-called creepy clown sightings are reported across the country and here in ohio with more and more people calling for help.

good. we have been cramped in our house for days and today is another one of the wet rainy days and at least it's a happy friday and there is a look outside of cleveland with the dark low clouds and rainfall light here in cuyahoga and there is a bit of a breeze in place at times and not bad at 6 miles per hour and could be high like fine today it -- 15 today and closer to the lake, the higher the numbers are and dew point is not bad and no we have the gleam air mass with the light rain and 63 in cleveland. 61 in akron and wooster and drier air surrounding ashtabula and we are dry in mansfield at 60 degrees and for lorain and cuyahoga, this is your light rainfall and driving on many highways and biways and your lighter grown is indicating the

lorain and strongsville seeing light rain and we head south and thunderstorm activity. not expecting severe weather out of this push but you may have a thunderstorm pop-up, especially farther south. and right on top of us, we're going to take away the lightning flashes. very heavy rain on dover and driving on 77 toward strasburg you will find the heavy rain in place and bars mill, i think it's impacting you and there is a potential that it does stay toge moderate rain heading your way and going north, it's lighter. tuscaroras here, stark and summit county, medina and wooster and lightens up and loses intensities. scattered, light showers. for tonight, the on-and-off rain could mean wet at the -- for the most part, we're looking at drier weather. and i am trying to be positive about this. the field is going to be soggy for players.
