just weeks after a state trooper is hit and killed on the side of a cleveland interstate another person killed while on the side of the road also struck by a driver suspected of being under the influence. a big sports day in cleveland. the browns looking for their first advantage in the post season. fans get a first glimpse of nba defending champion cleveland cavaliers. and a live look outside from our earth cam. there's downtown cleveland. you can kind of see the sun peaking through the clouds. we've seen a lot of the clouds the last few days but maybe that trend is changing very soon. welcome to this sunday edition of "good morning cleveland." i'm nick foley alongside meteorologist janessa webb to tell us about the forecast. the sun is trying.

>> rain will pass through hopefully. >> we tracked rain overnight. things are starting to dry out now. the front lifted to the north. that is why we're seeing a little hit and miss sunshine this morning but the clouds in tact across northeast ohio. let's show you that radar. this is our lapse from four hours, moves out of ashtabula crossing over to erie, pa and any moisture we're currently seeing is well off shore. we ridgeville. lorain, could see an isolated raindrop but that is going to move east fairly quickly. the upper level low tracked to the north bringing drier air associated with it. that is why we're going to start to see that drying pattern throughout you're sunday afternoon. let's look at the temperatures now. ashtabula 60 degrees. greater cleveland 61. still upper 50s for stark and summit county. the breakdown goes like this

to be outside. go get a little bit of sunshine by the 3:00 hour. we're going to dry out. i think for the brunt of the day you could see a few isolated raindrops for inland locations but the big talker is our temperatures. we have stepped out of the 70s, daytime highs only in the mid- 60s. >> still not bad. we'll take it. new information build a deadly hit-and-run crash from last night. shape this morning after hit by a driver officials believe was on drugs at the time. tunisha and asia matthews were changing a tire on the side of i-480 at 8:30 last night. a state patrol says a driver drifted to the side of the road and hit them. 48-year-old clark justin didn't bother to stop at the scene. >> we were able to locate that vehicle off state road at the next exit. that driver has been investigated for drivingened

technically in custody pending investigation. >> 27-year-old handling those was pronounced dead at the scene. the 23-year-old was taken to metrohealth medical center, still in critical condition this morning. cleveland police investigating a murder on the city's east side. officers found a 27-year-old man lying in the driveway of a home on east 79th street yesterday. police say the man had been shot in the head. his name won't be released until his big decisions expected to be made next week. the parma school district proposed $15 million in cuts. it could eliminate many important programs. at a meeting last night hundreds showed up to try to find a solution that won't impact their kids' education. >> our kids deserve better.

not going to get lost in the shuffle. >> lots of decisions to be said coming up for that district. the parma district though mutt submitted a balanced budget to the state by october 17th. the next step towards that is a school board meeting tuesday night and another huge crowd is expected at that meeting as well as a student-led protest ahead of time. cleveland cavaliers have had a very excited offseason, today time to get back to work. fo dramatic game seven victory fans will get a chance to see the cavs in action. meg shaw is live at the q with a preview of that wine and gold scrimmage. it doesn't get old saying the nba champs are back. >> reporter: exactly. it is football season. it's football sunday. but let's talk cavs because everybody can get excited about that. i know everybody has been waiting to see the wine and

the annual wine and gold scrimmage tips off today at 3:30. to those lucky fans who make their way to the q you get to see the brand new court design for the first time. the cavs say the black perimeter was inspired from the memorable black-sleeved jerseys the team wore in game five of the finals. the finishing touches on the court will be debuted on opening night. the big championship celebration set for october 25th against the knicks. that is raise that nba championship banner to the rafters and receive those championship rings. obviously we already got a look at that thanks to richard jefferson's snapchat which everybody loves. i can't wait for that. today's scrimmage, on the other hand, again tips off at 3:30, doors open for fans at 2:30. if you're opting to stay home and watch football or you didn't get a ticket you can watch it on-line.

the cavs. the fact that we are the nba champions. >> that's right. never get tired hearing that. a lot of work to do though. a lot of other teams making changes in the off-season. it will be fun. thank you. the cavs not the only cleveland team suiting up today. the browns still looking for their first win of the season. they will try to get just that against the redskins. they play at fedex field at 1:00 this afternoon. washington themselves not they are 1-2 so the browns got a fighting chance to get victory number one. also, indians have a big game coming up today. they are wrapping up their regular season in kansas city today. but right now they are a half game ahead of the red sox in the battle for home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. we know they are going to play boston but if the indians stay on top, they have to play a makeup game tomorrow against detroit.

side before tonight as high pressure builds. it's going to allow us to really clear out throughout your evening to tomorrow afternoon. take a look, closer to the lake from euclid to beachwood only a high of 64 degrees. that warm air trying to pump in for stark and summit counties. so many people headed to the q around 3:00 today for that wine and gold scrimmage. we're looking pretty good. mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the 60 see here on 5 -- concussions, have been a major concern for football players for decades but one couple also trying to raise awareness about the risk of internal injuries following the death of their son. lauren brill has their story. >> reporter: it's been almost a week after football player andre jackson died after being hit in the mid section during a football game.

welcome back. 10:16. the search for answers is hitting some roadblocks in the deadly train crash in new jersey. so far investigators know the signals and track approaching the station seemed to be normal. but they are stuck w that could provide key information about what happened. abc's daria albinger has more. >> reporter: beneath a massive tangle of steel and glass crucial evidence in the train crash that killed one and injured 114 others. >> because of the asbestos and because of the unsettled structures that we're not sure about i'm not allowing anyone to go in there. >> reporter: at this point the sheer extent of the wreckage in hoboken, new jersey, is keeping

examining the main part of the crash. trapped down there an event recorder and forward-facing camera. officials want to know exactly how fast the train was going and if the brakes were used before it slammed into the station thursday morning. >> we got multiple walking wounded. >> reporter: one of the event recorders was already uncovered, one at the back of the train, that information now being downloaded at the manufacturer. ve details on that meeting. -- the engineer but there are no details. preliminary test results on drugs and alcohol came back negative. it appeared to be going three times faster than normal as it approached the platform. the impact so violent that part of the station ceiling collapsed raining debris on the hundreds of people standing around waiting. while the ntsb wants to get access to more of the wreckage, investigators are interviewing

multiple videos. >> the objective is not to find just what happened but why it happened so we can prevent it from happening again. elsewhere -- southern california under an earthquake alert. the governor's office issued the alert following a series of small tremors deep under the sea located on th san andreas fault. those tremors can be warning signs a major earthquake is on the way. scie as high as one in 100. this heightened probability will last through tuesday. donald trump is under increased pressure to release his taxes. this coming as a "new york times" released a report about trump's tax history. it highlights his past business failures and including the loss of nearly $1 billion. the author suggests trump hasn't paid taxes in nearly two decades. he also challenges trump to

nothing on the severe side, it's moved out fairly quickly. right now the clouds in place, what we were dealing with for the last four to five days was that upper level low that continued to spin. that was allowing for the moisture that we saw. right now cloud coverage taking over from the radar, radar not picking up moisture or anything we're seeing is well off-shore. we're going to stay dry for the brunt of the afternoo on the isolated side. i want to show you that drier air starts to seep in here and causing our temperatures to be slightly cooler this morning. coshocton 58 degrees. closer to the lake we're already in the lower 60s, but daytime highs are not going to be increasing too much for ashtabula, lake county. as that low continues to make its way north. the drier air surges in behind that it's high pressure and

throughout your afternoon. the bulk of us going to be on the dry side, no heavy duty rain. the noticeable difference though is daytime highs are out of the 70s. fall-like pattern really touching down across northeast ohio. daytime highs only in the mid to upper 60s. lorain police are speaking out about the controversial dash cam video at the center of a new lawsuit. the video shows officers arrest on to the hood of a police cruiser. impact so hard it shattered the windshield. pelee smith arrested more than two years ago on drug trafficking charges. he's now suing lorain police for excessive force. yesterday the lorain police chief addressed the allegations. he has asked the cuyahoga county prosecutor's office to conduct its own review of the case. community leaders also announced they will hold forums for residents to voice their concerns and ask questions.

may still be infected with zika virus. preliminary tests show a new sample of mosquitos from the area tested positive for the disease if confirmed this would be the sixth mosquito sample from miami beach with a positive test. at least 35 people in miami beach have contracted the zika virus locally. right now hungarians headed to the polls, deciding about the future of immigration in their country. a controversial referendum will either accept or european union's migrant quota. the country has been strict in dealing with migrants after thousands of illegal border crossings from serbia last year. the referendum isn't legally binding but if it does pass it would further strain hungary's relations with other eu nations. in the meantime the uk is still preparing for its split with the eu. the prime minister just announced the country will trigger article 50 by the end of march. article 50 is the formal beginning of the process to leave the european union.

"brexit" plan expected to be part of the next speech from the queen. developing in philadelphia -- authorities investigating why police fired more than 100 shots to take down an unarmed suspect. the city's police commissioner raising the possibility of the barrage of bullets was due to something called contagious gunfire. abc's eva pilgrim looking into it. >> reporter: more than 100 shots fired, police ending a terrifying series of attacks. this mornin number of actual shots fired are still being tallied. >> as of now that count is 109 shots fired. >> reporter: police are now identifying the nine officers who opened fire but not saying which hit and killed the 32- year-old suspected in a series of violent attacks on five people. investigators say he stabbed two children including his own 8-year-old son. >> the thing that he did to his
