overnight and we'll go 5-8 inches of rain fall. notice a category 4, it does not look like it's going to come on shore. this is going to be incredible. the eye looks to stay just offshore may not be land falling at all. this is catastrophic damage

category 3 by the time it reaches daytona. here around fort pete and pierce tonight. up around daytona between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. and up towards savanna during tomorrow morning's rush hour is a category 2. that's 115-mile per hour winds and that's just not good, folks. storm serges, 5-10 feet. this is going to be a big deal. hopefully, folks, family and friends have gotten out of there let's go back to the desk. >> for a good reason people in florida have spent all week preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. >> 2 million people were urged to get out of town with major interstates turned into evacuation routes today. >> let's take a live look at the bahamas where matthew is wreaking havoc. mark said it's heading for florida.

this time for miami as the storm starts to move in. this is the most densely populated area in florida. unfortunately, the miami area is not expecting to see most of the fierce winds matthew is packing. those powerful gusts are expected instead to climb west palm beach and cape canaveral as the storm continues its way north. today we had a warning from first responders. everybody who chose not to >> there's a point in time we're going to have to cease services because it will be putting the first responders lives in danger just to get to the call. >> people living in coastal cities in georgia and south carolina are also being urged to get out of town. matthew has left 113 people dead. most of them in haiti. coming up at 5:15 tonight news

how all this happened. the suspect turned herself in today. reporter: frank, she turned herself here to the police department on charges of theft and also forgery. investigators are saying that the former ptsa mom has confessed to stealing more than 6,000 dollars. >> a front yard sign displays support for the fire stone falcons at stacey walker's home. the 42-year-old mother stole while she served as treasurer. walker was booked and released this morning. no answer when we went knocking. >> unfortunately, i think people made bad decisions and bad choices. >> former president told me walker has confessed with stealing more than $6,600, money that often comes from fundraisers and is suppose to be used to support things like academic scholarships and after

the deposits. >> hurricane matthew threatening millions along the east coast. >> mass evacuations forced from florida today. we continue with abc's marcie. it is early but are you seeing signs of matthew's arrival? reporter: >> we're seeing the outer bands start making their way to the east coast. >> there are folks out there refusing to lead. have you talked to any of them? reporter: absolutely. well, there are mandatory evacuations for some areas including the beaches and there are always those people who decide to ride out the storm. if they're going to change their mind they're running out of time.

bridges connecting the beaches to the mainland are shutting down. they want to make sure everyone's in place and not on the roads and bridges and obvious, a major concern. if the people decide to stay behind end up having an emergency whether it's related to the storm or not, they may not be able to get the help they need. there's a huge push right now to tell everyone now is the time to evacuate going to. on the mainland side we seen a lot of them boarding up the windows and they're taking the warnings very seriously. we're told the major roadways are empty and people are starting to get into their home and wait for the storm to hit late tonight. >> all right. marcy live from florida, thanks a lot. stay safe out there. >> >> people have try chose to ride out tropical storms.

. right now, the president of palestine is recovering after a health scare. he was suffering from chest pains and exhaustion. it happened this he had to undergo a procedure where a tube is inserted in the blood vessel leading to the heart. doctors say he is doing fine tonight and results were normal but health scare is drawing renewed attention to the leadership situation out there in palestine. he's 81-years-old and there's no succession plan in place. adding to that sense in the

jailhouse letters, he explains only to news 5's megan hickey. >> they were already dead he wrote to me. written in careful cursive on ruled loose leaf paper apologizing for sloppiness because he had to write with a small pencil. in the first letter he talks about facing himself in the mirror and promises to share exactly why he did it. that's exactly what he did in the second letter which i found folded original signed copy of hisindictment. the same document that lists his aggravated murder charges. the charges came after a third woman who escaped led police to their bodies in this ashland home last month. they were already dead. their bodies were flopping wherever they could flop but their minds were dead he quoted blaming government assistance

with what he calls a horrible act of violent behavior. he says this story began five years ago when he first reached out for government assistance. he said he couldn't get enough writing that he received $197 a month on a food card though many bodies receive 700 he wrote. great uses the words bodies, victims and people interchangeably and the letter is scattered with bible verses we're sharing these letters because we believe what he says is news. he admits in his roll of the death of five women and even more these letters share light on what he blames to be his motive. he acknowledges the families have the right to know why he did it. he also confesses his fears. he'll become dead minded like them stuck in a cell the rest of his life posing a final

this is 2:00 in the morning. after midnight we'll deal with rain showers and the front makes it in. scattered rain showers are possible. should clear out quickly saturday morning and the temperatures are chilling you down. try again. 74 degrees at 8:00 p.m. and you're in the 60s by 11:00. look at that. a lot of starshine becoming moonshine as well. your hour by hour taking you between 55-60 degrees for the overnight lows you get up to go and start your friday. a few clouds out here may drift by. i'm thinking what a beautiful night it's going to be. we get one more day of this. this area of low pressure here in nebraska, that as it moves north and east is finally going to drag this cold front through and push this high out of the way. we've enjoyed a string all week long.
