that bright sunshine we experienced all last week and for saturday afternoon. the "power of 5" is tracking rain. for most of the day partly sunny skies and still talking about the warm air in place. right now 67 degrees to start your sunday morning for greater cleveland. ashtabula 62 slightly cooler but still above normal for wayne county to the ca lower 60s. our 5 live radars really quiet this morning. we're seeing the weather pattern though is going to quickly change due to our next cold front. it's to our northwest. you can see the bulk of this moisture is to the north. so michigan, detroit, getting hit now, with a little bit of thunderstorm and heavy downpours. we're going to see the back edge of this system make its way into northern ohio.

front makes its way through it's going to stall out and lift as a warm front for your monday afternoon. folks, i want you to get prepared here. we are in fall but these temperatures are going to be off the charts. we're talking about daytime highs throughout your afternoon upper 70s and, nick, i'll show you in a few moments when we see highs returning to the mid- 80s. >> love those mild fall temperatures. some new bombshell developments in the 2015 pl people. a former captain and pilot told federal investigators he was asked to lie and alter records. news 5's derek walle with more. >> reporter: a former pilot for the company is speaking to investigators accusing his former employer of trying to cover up wrongdoing. everyone on board died when that private plane crashed into an apartment complex in akron last november. the ntsb says the pilot failed to maintain proper airspeed and

previous job for failure to attend a training. in interviews with the ntsb former executive flight pilot donny shackleford says he was pressured to lie. he was then fired from the company. he said execu flight falsified data like weight and balance telling investigators -- acknowledged that questionable free flight weight data was an estimate and says he was unaware that pilots' questionable work history. also now police need your help to identify the suspect involved in the deadly mr. hero robbery that killed a teen. meg shaw is live in cleveland. a tragic ending to the young man's life. what is the latest in this case? >> reporter: police released

incident. they are offering a $5,000 reward for any information that will lead to an arrest. they've also now identified that teenager who was killed in this incident. look at these photos. as you can see the suspect was wearing gray sweatpants, a black nike hoodie, gloves and bandanna over his face during the robbery. police say he barged into the mr. hero here on south taylor road 8:00 friday night. fired one shot at the teen working behind the counter, grabbed money from the register and took off. that single bullet killed 15- year-old sonny patel. he was a student at mayfield heights high school. the principal tweeting about his death saying our thoughts and prayers go out to the patel family. >> reporter: he also said counselors will be on hand all week for students as needed.

from the photos please call crime stoppers or the cleveland heights police department. if you didn't get a good look don't worry, we have them on our news 5 app and i also tweeted them so follow me on twitter@megdshaw. also an early morning shootout in maple heights, in a lounge leaves a man dead. someone called 911 early saturday morning to report people with guns were fired. when police arrived they found a 21-year-old man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. that victim identified as jacques macduffy. the shooting is still under investigation. also this morning, firefighters still investigating what sparked this industrial fire in eastlake. happened at east 357th and vine street. you can see broken out windows and smoke damage at ram jack of ohio. no word yet on just how much damage was caused inside.

apps or web sites to sell your stuff beware. police say a couple who used offer up met two men at a hot sauce williams at carnegie to sell their hoverboard and were robbed. the couple was found near a truck with bulletholes in it. both taken to the hospital and they are listed in stable condition. moving to a much lighter news -- the indians are red hot. th this month and are perfect in the post season. now head to toronto with a two- game lead in the alcs. how about that tribe? this is after a 2-1 win yesterday at home at progressive field. looking ahead now, the tribe has today off. a rest day. their next game tomorrow at rogers center. percent pitch 8:08. trevor bower returning from dronegate. will take the mound for the tribe. they look to go three games up.

the u.s. navy is investigating a possible missile attack on its ships patrolling off yemen's coast. a few days ago the u.s. military retaliated for an earlier missile attack for one of its ships in the same area. elizabeth hur with more on the developing story. >> reporter: u.s. defense officials say a group of u.s. navy ships were in

sea when the uss mason detected possible inbound missiles and fired defensive missiles as a counter measure. no ships were hit and all american warships in the area are safe. the u.s. navy is now investigating. in the meantime according to chief of naval operations admiral john richardson this may be the second attack on the uss mason and possible third attack overall targeting u.s. ships off the coast of yemen in retaliatory measures just a few days ago when a u.s. warship fired tomahawk missiles into yemen. this destroyed three radar sites the pentagon believes may have played a role in the missile firing. u.s. military officials say the missiles were fired from a region in yemen. leaders deny the charge. the delegation was just returning from peace talks in

the devastation of houses and cars, even whole neighborhoods underwater. families displaced from hair homes. some lost everything. we've seen it before, after hurricane katrina barreled through new orleans in 2000 but now a new study on -- 2005. but now a new study shows such disasters can leave behind a different kind of devastation no less destructive. researchers at the universities of illinois and miami report that substance abuse problems were katrina. evidenced by the rise of hospitalizations for alcohol and drug misuse disorders in local medical centers. in regional hospital records in louisiana they found that in 2008, three years after katrina, the rate of hospitalizations for those with substance abuse disorders was 35% higher than before it hit. most affected were those between the ages of 20 and 49, those exposed to the deepest

in neighborhoods where clean-up efforts were delayed. some of the greatest repercussions of a natural disaster may even be silent so it's time to reach out to those enduring matthew's aftermath. with this "medical minute," i'm dr. timothy johnson. when was the last time you took the day off from work let alone had a real vacation? it's been a while? you're not alone. a new report found we threw away 222 million vacation days last year. adding up billion in unused benefits. for thoses of us who can roll over time off the stockpile is now up to 658 million unused days, equalling $272 billion. that is up 21% over last year. project time off found more than half of employees don't use all our vacation and on average we take about 16 days off a year. now 50 years ago we took 20 days off a year.

we continue to follow for you. this morning family and friend are mourning the loss of a 15- year-old teen boy after he was shot and killed during a robbery. police are asking for your help in identifying the person responsible. news 5's meg shaw is live in cleveland heights where the tragic incident happened. now we hear the police released pictures of this suspect. >> reporter: the cleveland heights police department did release surveillance photos of the man they say robbed this mr. hero an old teenager. they are offering anward for any information that will lead to an arrest in this case. if you're not at your tv walk over and look at the photos for a second. you can see the suspect in these photos is wearing gray sweatpants with a white striped down the side. a black nike sweatshirt and bandanna over his face. police say he's between 5'10" and 6 feet with a thin build. they tell us he went into the

rainbow babies where he's now in stable condition. also on cleveland's east side yesterday -- 25-year-old was stabbed. police say davon smith was walking along eastern avenue when a man tried to rob him. smith fought back and was stabbed in the chest. he's expected to recover but police don't have any suspects right now. a bold attempt to commit a smash and grab turns into a police chase through the streets of two cities. police say the suspects used two stolen mini vans, one driven right convenience store in willoughby hills while it was open. four men tried to steal the atm according to police but failed. the suspects jumped into the other mini van which officers chase until it spun out in cleveland. all five men inside ran off. a loaded magazine was recovered from the stolen mini van that crashed. and euclid police say two men shown here shoved the female gas station attendant to the ground and pointed a gun at her during a robbery. looks like one has a cast on

that means early voting is underway in ohio. started on wednesday and we were there at the post office when the first of the 180,000 absentee ballots from cuyahoga county were mailed out. interestingly enough by friday morning 2,300 hundred of them were already filled out and returned. early voting this year is a week shorter than 2012 and the interest to start we found is lower. outside of the cuyahoga county board of elections volunteers from various campaigns wait fo ballots early in person. actor kal penn on hand to drum up support for hillary clinton and early voting. >> it's a great thing not to wait until election day. >> reporter: early voting kicked off wednesday with a atmosphere of four years ago but in cuyahoga county not the volume. day one of 2012, underunder 1,900 people showed up to vote early in person at the b.o.e., this year on day one, it was 172. a 38% drop.

janessa webb with another look at weather. saw rain this morning but the mild conditions what i'm focused on. it's really nice >> warm air. not talking about cold. very mild. we're going to see a southerly flow. temperatures off the charts for the next three days. it's going to be the center of the weather story across northern ohio. pretty much we could be talking about recordbreaking warmth for your today upper 70s, near 80s in spots. folks, that's 10 to 15 degrees above normal and we're in october so i know many of you wanting fall here but man, summer is trying to fight back across the area. temperature right now, good morning greater cleveland, 67 degrees. starting to see just a little bit of cool air from kilbuck to coshocton, upper 50s. a wonderful start for summit

today out of the southwest, 10 to 15 miles per hour. that's going to allow for the gradual warm-up across northern ohio allowing for temperature upper 70s to near 80. our wind cast shows us that the winds do start to subside about the 7:00 hour, but that is when we'll start to track more widespread rain. so i want you to get prepared for that. right now 5 radars up moisture, you've been enjoying that bright sunshine. it fades a tad. we're off to a fantastic start though. the run of the moisture though is currently in michigan. southern portion. they are seeing some heavy downpours from kalamazoo to detroit. also some rumbles of thunder. the bulk of that moisture is going to stay to the north but i want to show you right now the back edge what is the main focus across northern ohio will be. the setup goes like this --

what is going to happen here, it will stall and then track back in as a warm front folks. that will -- that will allow us to see temperatures back into the lower 80s by tomorrow afternoon. so exact timing here from the futurecast. around 4:00 i do want to show you that mansfield to erie, huron county you'll start to notice a little bit of moisture because more widespread across the area by the 6:00 hour. the darker greens, yellows, th thunder here with temperatures still very mild. can't count that out. throughout your overnight we'll continue to track rain. this front and the moisture will not be out of here, not until noon tomorrow afternoon. so today 78, partly sunny skies. enjoy it. tonight thermometer not dropping too much. still in the mid-60s for overnight lows.
