the flooding has stop, the waters have receded,esidents face the huge task of cleaning up after yesterday's massive water main break. the water is gone but the town of dundalk, maryland, has a long road ahead. let's look at these pictures a. six-foot water main broke yesterday afternoon and a deluge of water left many neighbooods completely under water. today, mud and a great deal of water left behind for the residents. >> reporter: friday there was too much water. today for some residents just enough to go around. what else is going around, stories of high water and high anxiety. >> it was terrible. >> i got everything pumped out. my furnace is destroyed.

i just put hardwood floor in my house last november and it is destroyed. >> reporter: the gaping hole when a six-foot water main erupt erupted. mose residents had no inkling until the water ruz rushing toward their doorste others weren't so lucky. >> there's a lot of elderly people out here, a lot of disabled people besides myself. i'm calling for people to come out. >> reporter: red cross workers and others converged. items that were precious were water laden moldy piled, ruined and unser moan yously dumped. part of the red cross relief is to distribute these mundane

items. >> i don't believe we know the cause for this particular break. the pipe, as i understand it, very large pipe, 72-inch main was installed in the early '70s. >> 70 houses were deemed uninhabitable and an emergency shelter is opened for those who need it. a man is behind bars charged with murdering a professor and three other people near longwood university. four victims were discovered at the longwood university professor deborah kelly. police tracked down their suspect. 20-year-old richard mccroskey. they found him in the baggage claim area at richmond international airport. police believe he was trying to catch a fright to california. kelly's husband, daughter and a friend were known to stay at the home.

>> when it is friends and loved ones, it -- i don't have the words. >> kelly's daughters left a posting on the suspect's myspace page professing her love and saying she would soon see him at her house. prince george's county police have a murder mystery. they found a body inside a burning home earlier this morning in capital heights. now they must figure out if the fire killed him or it was set to cover up his murder. day spencer has more. what did you find out? >> reporter: neighbors reported the fire after smelling smoke. some also say they heard shots fired. police don't know exactly how the victim died. around 2:30 saturday morning firefighters were called here to this single family home on kayak avenue in capital heights. >> they put out the fire and

found an unidentified black male deceased. they called in the homicide department and they determined this is an arson and a homicide. >> reporter: some neighbors reported smelling smoke and heard shots fired. >> i'm in shock. it hasn't sank in with me yet. the neighborhood person who cut the grass was shot and killed and burned up in that abandoned house. >> i was in the house asleep. i smelled smoke. i came outside. i saw the smoke and the fire. i went in the house and said okay, another day. i didn't know it was a big thing like this. i didn't know it was a major crime seen. i thought it was a fire. >> reporter: they are trying to determine not om who the man was but how he died and who killed him. they are not saying whether the victim had been shot. residents say a man who was

staying in the vacant house would mow lawns in the neighborhood to earn cash. >> the homicide detectives will work on who the arsonist is, what are the elements of the homicide, when did events occur. >> reporter: police are waiting on the results of an autopsy to determine who the man was and determine whether he died from the fire or how he died. the republican presidential candidates are off and running. yes, already. mike huckabee has the unofficial early lee. he topped a straw poll at a conservative gathering in the district today. he gathered more votes at the value voter summit than mitt romney and sarah palin combined. it is a chance for the christian conservatives to show they are relevant. >> i'm leading an effort amongst house republicans to earn back

security cameras captured yesterday's deay shooting ram passage in a mexico city subway yesterday. two people were killed. eight more were injured. the shooting began when a police officer confronted a man about writing anti-government graffiti on the wall. officers subdued the suspect.

police are randomly checking for guns at the subway stations. a bear went on a rampage in japan yesterday as more than 100 horrified tourists were looking on. witnesses say the bear started attacking people. it injured nine people before employed managed to trap it inside a souvenir shop. it was put down. a massachusetts woman is in pain after a crash this week. the other driver's explanation as to why the accident happened that really has her angry. >> she's like, oh, my god. is everyone all right. i w paying attention to the spider on my windshield. >> the old spider excuse. the spider distracted her and caused her to ram into daniel's car. it hit her with such force it caused her car to fly into the air. firefighters say they are lucky
