million, the powerball is the biggest in united states history. i'll show you some of the things i would buy, coming up. just in, it's now $800 million and climbing. good afternoon, everyone. i'm josh benson. >> i'm stacy sheivel. thank you for joining us. let's get straight to the weather with meteorologist julie phillips. >> we have pleasant conditions this afternoon, temperatures in the low 70s after some rain this morning. we are looking at nice conditions and you can see blue skies, a little sunshine out there. temperatures are in the low 70s at this moment and on the satellite and radar, you can see some of the showers off toward the east coast around fort pierce, west palm beach. across the tampa bay area, dry conditions right now with lingering clouds around. this is the rain we picked up early this morning. didn't see huge rainfall

half inch of rain. just a small area picking up a little heavier rain. overall a gloomy start, nice afternoon and temperatures warmer than yesterday at this time, 5 to 10 degrees warmer. this is likely about as warm as we're going to get before the next cooldown. it's 75 in odessa and 78 in brandon, 77 in bartow and 75 in lakeland. temperatures will be mild through the evening so get outside and enjoy it. no rain expected for the rest of tonight. we'll fall back in the 60s and if you're out late, you'll want a light sweater to bring with you. notice a dry start for your saturday but higher rain chances moving in by the evening. details coming up in the full forecast. thank you. it's been one year since 5-year-

in florida could take home the biggest jackpot in powerball history. it will all start here in this room. the machines are under lock and key at the florida lottery headquarters in tallahassee but saturday night they will be rattling, millions of people hoping their numbers come up. it adds up to a win for the state education system. >> just since this roll in november, we have transferred $40 million to education, just on this powerball jackpot. >> reporter: players have until saturday night at 10:00 p.m. to buy a $2 ticket. >> and if there is no jackpot winner tomorrow, the grand prize rolls over again and the next winner could pocket more than $1 billion. imagine that. >> you're predicting it won't be one. i think it will be. >> i think it's rolled over like 18 times since it started.

even though the way yoyou purchase is different, the pricing should be the same. a popular gadget gets sued. a group of customers claim the heart rate tracker on fitbit models cannot accurately measure heart rate as advertised. one woman said her heart rate during the workout was nearly twice as high as her fitbit indicated. the company says it stands by its technology. a new study suggests what we order when eating out may be influenced but our servers' appearance. after watching nearly 500 diners in 60 restaurants, people ordered 17% more alcohol with a heavier server or waitress and seems to impact the thinners diners the most. looks like we could see

tomorrow evening is probably the best chance we'll see showers and maybe even storms moving in. here is a look at the weekend forecast. tomorrow morning we're cloudy with mild temperatures but by evening, still make it into the mid-70s. sunday the cooldown begins but it will feel like january temperatures in the low 70s, some extra clouds around and breezy. sunday we're mostly dry and for this evening, extra clouds and mid-60s at 9:00 p.m. if you plan to head out this evening, a a light sweater is all you need. temperatures are in the low 60s by tomorrow morning. mild start but by the afternoon we'll see showers and storms moving on shore from the gulf. at this point it's completely dry across the tampa bay area. in the little bit of cloud cover lingering, we have showers off on the east coast of florida. we are expecting dry conditions for the rest of tonight. as you take a step back, this

but it will be approaching us heading into tomorrow evening. it will start to bring up our rain chances and bring us cooling air as well. this is only 23 in denver, 39 in albuquerque, 10 in bismarck. this is going to slide across toward the southeast and we'll see a significant cooldown next week. the disturbance that brought the showers this morning, many of you waking up to rain, is moving out. that's why it will be dry tonight. tomorrow morning we already have clouds around, and there's the cold front off to the west. it moves in in a hurry and we could see showers and storms but by sunday morning pretty much everything is gone. we'll see the north winds kicking in, cooler and partly cloudy on sunday. sunday is probably the best day of the weekend. it will be breezy and a little cooler, then notice temperatures remain in the 60s

he works under bruce aryans and they have the number one offense in the nfl right now. so there's a little trust in that aspect. the other confirmed interview, carolina panthers defensive coordinator sean mcdermott. he takes his top five defense into the playoffs as the top seed in the nfc. how about doug martin, named ap all pro team today. congratulations. he's the only bucs player to make the first team. there was only one bucs player on the second team, linebacker lavon they david. no gerald mccoy, very interesting. the lightning are off during the two days of the bucs coaching craziness but resume tonight in edmonton. hockey season is long but once the new year arrives, teams start counting gamings.

trying to outrun the flood water. heavy downpours in the area caused the national weather service to issue a flash flood warning. >> number two, frightening new video of a carjacker jumping in and taking off with a little girl in the back. her stepfather tried chasing the car but without any luck. the crook drops the girl off safely a couple miles away and she is fine. the bad guy still has not been caught. two men are in court today, arrested by the feds on terror related charges. a law enforcement officer says two men, one in houston and one in sacramento, communicated with each other. both are refugees from iraq. some americans worry terrorists could enter the country posing as refugees, amplified after the paris terror attacks in november. number four, the powerball

the biggest in u.s. history. it's been growing since november 7th. there have been 18 drawings in a row without a winner and the next drawing is tomorrow night. good luck. back in florida, governor scott is proposing a billion dollars in tax cuts, primarily for businesses. >> and the governor is planning to launch an expensive grass roots campaign to convince those who doubt. >> you're about to see a lot more of governor rick scott, spending a million dollars to go on tv and traveling the state on a bus tour, all to promote his billion dollar tax cut. it's a highly unusual step for a sitting governor. >> why do it? >> it's also important for him to make sure the bully pup pit goes only so far.

welcome back. the feds have fined united airlines nearly $3 million for disability related complaints and delays. the transportation department says at times united did not give customers with disabilities adequate help getting on and off planes and they penalized united for several occasions passengers were left in planes that sat on

cold front set to move through saturday evening. rain chances go upstarting late saturday afternoon, continuing into saturday night. could see storms with this front and then the cool spell begins, temperatures in the 60s looks like all next week. so this is going to be the coldest air really so far this season we have seen. for us this evening, fairly mild. we're in the upper 60s but no rain expected for your friday night plans. as you wake up saturday morning, want to go for that jog, head out early. looking at clouds but the morning should be dry. the rain chances increase as we head into the afternoon and evening hours. temperatures will be into the mid-70s ahead of this front, winds out of the southwest, and right now you can see the radar is quiet. we are not looking at anything moving in tonight. should be good if you have outdoor plans for this evening. as we take a step back, there's the cold front we're tracking and this area of low pressure. this is going to move in by saturday night.

toward the great lakes. if you have weekend travel plans, we have missy weather through green bay, chicago and clcleveland, all dealing with cold temperatures and rain there. for us, a disturbance moved through this morning. that's how we saw the rain during the morning commute. it's moving out, going to stay dry for the recollection of the overnight hours. temperatures will be in the 60s, so that's pretty mild for january. there's the front and there's the rain and storms increasing as we head into dinner time saturday night. through the overnight hours, the front really pushes through and starts to clear things out. by sunday morning, we are just leaving in a slim rain chances. it will be mostly dry, breezy on sunday but really the cold air doesn't settle in until we head into next week. by monday we are in the low 60s and we're going to stay there until friday. this will be the coldest air we have seen this season.

been 48 degrees. that's pretty warm actually for us. we have notten near freezing. our norse for tuesday night is 45 degrees. keep the winter clothes in the front of closet because next week you'll need them. right now 75 in tampa, 79 in brandon and still sitting at 72 in weeki wachi, 78 in crystal river. notice the cooler air to the north and west. this is what's heading our way, only 20 in rapids city this evening, 10 degrees in bismarck. we have to bring up rain chances to 50% for saturday. most of the rain pushes out before sunday morn and we are week. of course cooler as well, many mornings in the 40s. then our afternoons, only making it into the mid-60s. some change heading our way. could you use a few hundred million dollars?
