for all of us at nbc news, good . a wild chase caught on camera and it ends in a police department parking lot. >> and ticket sales soaring, as a record-setting jackpot continues to grow. >> plus, an army ranger runs to honor a 5-year-old girl. how the memory of phoebe lives on. good evening. i'm jennifer leigh. >> and i'm keith cate. thank you for joining us tonight. we begin with a police chase caught on camera in pinellas county. a driver hits a cruiser, nearly hits an officer, and puts other lives in danger. paul mueller joins us live in pasco county with the story. paul? >> reporter: keith, talk about one heck of a wild ride, the chase ending here. you can see tire marks on the ground and here on the lawn of, where else, but the new port richey police department. >> but it ends up on your front lawn. >> now, that is strange. >> reporter: strange, even for

>> reporter: the view from the pasco county deputy's body camera catching all the action. the deputy getting a glimpse of 56-year-old lisa myers, nodding off at the wheel. but when she sees him, she takes off. [ sirens ] >> reporter: moments later, the deputy collides with another cruiser, then yet another officer tries to stop myers, but once again, she hits the gas and nearly hits him. but then? >> she's pulled into the new port richey police department. we got her. >> reporter: got her, after she backed into another cruiser. she is cuffed in the parking lot, but free to say whatever she wants. >> police chief is a christian! this is a false arrest! you can't have what's in my purse, my property or my kids! >> reporter: things get even more intense. >> hey, hey, hey. you need to stop right now. do you understand, lisa? >> reporter: more shocking. >> she's got ammo with her?

>> ma'am, do you have a gun? >> your first thought? >> what a mess. incredibly dangerous. >> reporter: myers' family didn't come to the door, but neighbors know her for all the wrong reasons. >> what are you thinking? >> she wasn't thinking. that's a fact. [ sirens ] >> reporter: tonight in pasco county, myers is facing a slew of charges. more could be on the way. she is locked up on nearly $150,000 bond, keith. >> based on the video just showed us, paul, seems like she has a lot of issues. what else do we know about this woman? any trouble with police in the past? >> reporter: that's what we're learning about, issues tonight, as we've been investigating this story. the police chief here telling me tonight that she actually comes here once a week to visit. then the neighbors tell us she has medication issues, that they have seen troubling behavior before, so that could give us insight into what's going on intoto the sequence of events. >> fortunately, no one hurt in that chase. thank you, paul mueller, live in pasco county tonight.

fire is under investigation. the call came in from a gentleman's club on u.s. 19 in clearwater. eagle 8 hd flew over the scene earlier tonight. we're told the fire was a small one. crews put it out quickly and nobody was hurt. investigators may have a break tonight in a polk county triple murder. detectives believe the three suspects may have fled the area in this white commercial van. take a look. the sheriff's office released this surveillance video from a nearby business taken shortly after the murders. if you recognize that vehicle, you should call the sheriff's office. a gunman who ambushed and shot a philadelphia police officer was inspired by isis. detectives tell us after he was taken into custody the shooter islamic state. officer jesse hartnett was shot three times in the arm, but he managed to draw his gun and shoot back. officer hartnett is expected to recover. and notorious mexican drug lord joaquin el chapo guzman is back in custody tonight. he escaped a maximum security

he was taken into custody in northwestern mexico, but that was after a shootout that killed five people. guzman now faces the possibility of extradition to the united states. a former u.s. army ranger is running to honor the memory of 5-year-old feedback bow johnchuck. one year ago today, her father threw her off a bridge near the sunshine sky wall. alex never knew phoebe or her family, but was moved by her death. he is raising funds for the shiners hospital on the three- day run and tells us the little girl will never be forgotten. >> it means that her tragedy is going to help other children. >> estrella is hoping to raise at least $5000 to benefit shriners hospital in phoebe's memory. well, the largest powerball jackpot in history could be yours. >> we're talking $800 million, possibly more, and just about

competition, but his talent messes merrized mesmerized the judges. his car was towed, he got the car back, but his $700 guitar was gone. >> i'm kind of getting through it. had a lot of friends and family help out and my fiance's boss stepped out and helped a little bit, too. >> johnny shelton is working with the towing company to find his guitar. if the company doesn't locate the instrument, johnny tells us it has agreed to pay him for a replacement. a driver in california had to think fast when flood waters suddenly rushed down the highway toward his car. this is the video from fillmore. you can see a wave of water and debris sort of approaching right around this bend here. the driver had no choice, but to put the car in reverse and tried to outrun the flood. he was eventually able to make

breathing a sigh of relief along the way. more snow for central arizona. a total of nearly 30 inches has fallen on flagstaff. drivers were warned to stay off the roads because of whiteout conditions. schools in the area were closed yesterday. it hasn't happened in more than 200 years. now the governor of texas is joining other republicans pushing for a constitutional convention. governor greg abbott asked texas lawmakers to take the lead in pushing for the constitutional amendments. abbott wants states to have power to ignore federal laws and supreme court decisions. >> i want legislation authorizing texas to join other states in calling for a convention of states to fix the cracks in our bronycon stewings. [ applause ] >> the idea is a long shot. a constitutional convention

overturned truck made a real mess on the florida turnpike today. a penske moving truck flipped over on the turnpike in miami- dade county. look at all the shoes, thousands of pairs of shoes spilling out onto the roadway. a few drivers were hurt, too, as you can see here. the turnpike was closed for hours while the shoes and the truck and people were removed. and a majestic sight captured by a traffic camera in canada. that going past there is a rare snowy owl. it flew right by a camera pointed at a montreal highway. sort of looks like it flew out of a harry potter book, except it's not carrying a letter. snowy owls are rarely seen outside the arctic. 2015's best in tv and movies will be honored sunday night at the golden globe awards. comedian ricky gervais will return as the host. you can watch the 73rd golden globe awards right here on

andrea walker, great shot. she sent us three beautiful shots on facebook. out on tampa bay tonight. jackie at indian rocks beach. must have been a great sunset night. we got a lot of great pictures from our fantastic photographers. temps are going to stay fairly mild overnight. dewpoints have made a recovery, 62, which is 10 degrees above the average. temperatures in the 70s at 8:00 a.m. rain chances increase into the late afternoon hours, as the rain ahead of the cold front pushes our way. 66 over 63 dewpoint. could be patchy fog here in the overnight. same in st. petersburg, 66 with a fairly high dewpoint. we'll mention the fog, low clouds. 66 degrees in clearwater beach. 65 in treasure island. you can see 63 in lakeland. 61 in wiki watchy. if you have a chance to check out this game on sunday, you might want to do so.

playoff games ever. 3 degrees at kickoff. windchill advisories may be in place because windchill values could be at minus 15 or so, a very cold, cold game a long way from the state of florida. cold air over the border now. rain from chicago to detroit. a cold, wet day. on the colder side of the low pressure, snow in wisconsin, iowa and minnesota. low pressure continues just to our north moving away from us. the bulk of the precip throughout the day, the daytime, was off to our east, but we did have overnight showers and morning rain, but that all pushed off to the east. right now, a few clouds remay, but we don't see the rain associated with the cold front. that's coming later on, probably in the afternoon hours ahead of the front itself. so extra clouds, temps in the low 60s. could be some low clouds because of the high dewpoint levels, possibly some fog. then the afternoon hours, you can see that front approaching. the timing on this, around 6:00 according to the rpm forecast model. then we watch for the front. that's why sunday's just a little bit cooler. get another little area pushing

of high pressure kind of reinforcing the air behind that first front. then cooler temperatures build in starting on sunday. the front will clear florida. partly cloudy skies, cooler conditions. then cooler is the trend all the way through next week. 62 degrees in the morning. still on the mild side, 76 in the afternoon with increasing clouds as the day goes along with rain chances afternoon, evening primarily, at 50%. 10% rain chance early, early sunday, if any really. then for monday, high temperatures in the low 60s, carrying into the mid-60s the rest of the week. this is a big change, and really because you contrast that to our warm november and december and you talk about some of the coolest, in fact probably the coolest air of the season. good time to do it. this is the typical coolest time of the year. there you go. nice round of chilly air. >> sounds delightful. thank you. coming up next in sports, the bucs coaching search begins with a busy weekend planned. >> and would you sit outside in a stadium when it's 1 degree above zero?

of those men become unavailable to talk after this weekend. so first up, harold goodwin, the offensive coordinator of the arizona cardinals. he led the number one total offense in the nfl this season and he works under head coach bruce arians, one of the bright offensive-minded coaches in the game. now, let's switch specialties, to the defense and tomorrow's interview, carolina panthers defensive coordinator sean mcdermott. he has himself a top five defense. mcdermott has rebuilt his resume after he was fired as the defensive coordinator of the eagles in 2011. now, the interview circuit goes the other direction as well. john robinson, the bucs director of player personnel is the man on the left of your screen there. he had his interview today with the tennessee titans for their general manager position. and it's the only one open right now in the nfl. the titans claim to have had 14 candidates for the job, but we wish john well on that one.
