tells us that fire broke out in single rv and spread to two other ones. they were not occupied. crews put out the fire in a few minutes. crews determined it was accidental, an electrical short. clean up and damage assessment underway after a tornado touched down in cape coral. the national weather service gave it a preliminary rating of an ef-2. trees pulled out of the ground, homes damaged, streets flooded and a ponds. residents say they were completely caught off guard. >> yeah, it shocked us. it came out of nowhere. the alarms didn't go off until after. grandson's 3rd birthday and everybody was outside. i had to push them in the house. everything was gone. we had a bounce house and it's like two blocks down the road.

of this is there were no serious injuries and governor scott did tour that area late this afternoon. >> that is part of the system that moved through our area this weekend. you can probably feel it outside. it's bringing that colder air with it. >> meteorologist bryan bennett in the forecast center tonight for us. he's tracking all the changes we can expect to see. >> first comes the storms and then the cooler temperatures. looking at radar from last night as the storms rumbled through it produced a water spout near bradenton beach. that tornado has just been confirmed by the weather service as an ef-2. it was on the ground for 3.4 miles and 182 yards wide. the cold front now has passed off to the south and so have the showers and storms. this evening we'll drop down into the upper 50s. by tomorrow

they are adorable. 15 arrived here shortly before 2:00. they are being checked out, sprayed or neutered and vaccinated. >> right now we're doing a physical exam. we're getting a good description of them. we're going to guess the breed and ages and do vaccinations and deworming as well. >> they vary in breed, condition and sex. rachel leeman is one of the technicians checking the dogs out. >> this one is a girl, probably a retriever or hound mix and she needs a good name. i think you would be a good lola. >> conditions in mississippi forced the humane society there to look for other homes. >> with the flooding you're going to have flooding in shelters out there too. areas where the dogs can't stay dry, any power losses would be a huge issue.

the affordable care act health insurance is just three weeks away. today president obama's health and human services secretary visited the bay area, came to tampa to encourage americans to enroll soon. secretary sylvia burwell joined tampa mayor bob buckhorn and kathy caster. they spoke to the congregation at mount zion baptist church about enrolling. >> we need people to sign up. we're using churches and pastors but it ultimately we need folks to sign up. they're lives will be better as a result of this. >> open enrollment ends on january 31st. the count down is on for college football's national championship game. a lot of people ready and waiting today. >> even your pastor today. he was ready to finish church and get to football.

be kind of cool this evening. we will be in the 60s and 50s. so the rain is history. now it's all about those temperatures. over night tonight and really for the next three nights we'll be dropping into the 40s, we'll have high temperatures the next three days in the 60s. cooler weather now moving in by late week. we're keeping an eye on the possibility for severe weather thursday night and into friday morning. something we'll be monitoring all week. 62 degrees in tampa, 68 in venice, sebring. in inverness we're at 55 degrees. keep on tracking north and it gets cold. right now it's 1 degree below zero in minneapolis. it feels like 13 below in minneapolis. it feels like 17 below in cedar rapids. they can keep that weather. we'll see a little bit of florida cool weather move in. by tomorrow we'll have a high temperature of 63. tuesday 65, same on wednesday. average day on thursday and then we actually

highs in the upper 70s by friday and saturday. so this is the deepest, darkest part of winter. on average this is the coldest week of the year. so not really doing too bad considering this is our coldest time of the year. satellite and radar picture shows a good deal of cloud cover. the cold front has passed through. that's why temperatures will start to drop. take a look at the cloud cover. it stretches all the way to the equator, 4,000 miles of clouds. fortunately those are not heading completely this direction, they're moving this direction. tomorrow we're going to tap into some really nice weather with deep blue sunny skies. over night tonight clearing skies towards morning. kind of chilly. temperatures dropping into the middle 40s. head north in some of our northern communities in citrus county and you could be in the upper 30s to around 40 degrees. it is wintertime. it is the

not have temperatures in the upper 30s. everybody is staying above freezing tonight. tomorrow afternoon deep blue sunny skies, it's going to be as deep blue as that color right there and a beautiful day. hardly any moisture in the air and that's why the sky will be so pretty. not warming up that much. even with the sunshine the high around 63 degrees. a very slight chance for a shower far south on tuesday. that's why i have the 10% in there. other wise a lot of sunshine and 65. same forecast goes on wednesday, just a few more clouds. then thursday night and friday morning we do have another front passing through. it could bring some strong storms through the area. that's something we'll be monitoring throughout much of the work week. temperatures rebounding back into the upper 70s by saturday. kind of a roller coaster this week. >> a little bit for everybody. >> yep. >> we'll have to -- after all of the 80s we'll take a little cool air. >> you're referring to the disco 80s? >> no, the temperatures.
