little bit more of a northeasterly flow, lots of sunshine and we'll warm back up into the 60s. it's really going to be a slow warming trend until the next cold front is set to arrive on friday. this is when the next storm chance is moving in. we are watching this system closely and look like the timing will be through the day on friday, chance of showers and storms behind the system. cooler weather filters in the low 60s once again. thank you. one of your 2016 new year's resolutions may be improving your financial situation. your credit score plays a big part in that, even more so this year than last. we have jerry detwiler here from debt.com. i saw an article on this and seems like the credit score always matters but what's changing in 2016 that makes us need to be more vigilant?

to go up. it's not going to be a big jump but we're starting to see them go back up. we have enjoyed low interest rates, bad for savers, great for borrowers. so as interest rates rise, it's important to minimize the amount you pay when you borrow. you want a good credit score because that means better rates. >> so the key to that, if you want to borrow, the better your credit score, the lower the rate is that you can get? >> exactly. remember, a lot of consumers are sitting on adjustable rate mortgages, maybe a second mortgage, or maybe you want to take one out to start a business or remodel the home. those are tied to the credit score. >> and people are offering this up. it used to be this mystery number that you could not get your hands on.
4:17 pm
report but not your score. >> annualcreditreport.com is the place to get it free by law. there's a variety of places and you could get it through a lot of major credit card issuers like discover and visa. they may be different because they can be based on different bureaus but is it strong or not, and what can i do to improve it. >> because they're giving you a good ballpark? >> exactly. >> are there any quick and easy score? what's the number one thing to boost that score? >> number one is to be sure there are no mistakes. fix those and you're out of trouble. the other one is pay down credit card balances. if you have balances close to the limit, those are hurting your score and the faster you get them down, the faster your scores will improve. >> great advice.
