mess. >> roof, pool furniture, glass, doors blown out, bar-be-que is gone but we're still here. >> reporter: cathie doesn't have to look far to see that the damage could have been much worse. this is at the end of the street. and that's because after all the clean up, she is staying positive. >> a piece of wood pierced the roof so water came in. drain that. we actually got in the bathroom with five animals. >> reporter: fleming wants her florida friends to use the destruction as a lesson. >> a lot of times with hurricanes they go on and on for days and they never ready.

>> you can see it down here. i have it on the idle mode. damaged condos. take a look at what we captured. an entire section is sheered drone eight captured this fascinating video right here. it's an entire section of the building that is ruined. several lower level universities have water damage. across the street, joe nate flew over the interior complex. drone eight caught these shops of blown out windows and people who put plywood up. and at the sands cabanas we saw crews starting to do work.

sun lovers can return to this place to relax. >> peter bernard, thank you very much. for the latest breaking weather alerts and for more video of tang damage left by the tornado you -- video of damage left by the tornado you can go to wfla.com. rescue crews have been searching around the clock since the helicopters collided and crashed during a routine mission on thursday. a u.s. marine from fort myer is among the missing. the coast guard says it does not intend to call off or suspend that search. an investigation is under way after an armed teenager died in a confrontation with a police officer. henry bennett bailed out of his vehicle. the teen pulled out a gun prompting the deputy who has pulled him over to fire his

the deputy is on paid leave until this investigation is complete which is standard procedure. rescue mission accomplished tonight. the coast guard arrived just in time to save two men from their sinking boat this morning. the coast guard helicopter rescue crew flew out to the men and then successfully pulled them to safety. a mama bear and her babies took over a neighborhood. she and two of her cubs climbed up a tree sunday night. in recent years black bear have become a pretty common sight. but neighbors say they still get nervous when they see the bears lurking around.

students go to college got helped today by the children of martin luther king jr. >> reporter: supporters marched through the streets of florida's capital city and celebrated dr. martin luther king jr. dr.king's son will be rallying at the capital himself on tuesday. >> reporter: king in an expected crowd in the thousands will be in tallahassee in support of school choice and the florida tax credit scholarship program. the save our scholarships coalition is putting on the event. the program gives low income families the ability to send their children to private school. it provides dollar for dollar tax breaks for businesses helping out the program. >> your zip code should not decide what school you go to. your commitment to your child ought to decide where you send your kid.

kid to the best schools. why not minority parent families. they love their children like we love our children. >> reporter: the rally comes just a few days after public education advocates flooded the capital. >> enough is enough. >> reporter: the florida education association helped organize that event last week. they're also leading the charge against the scholarship program. they say that more than $550 million that the state sets aside could be helping to improve public schools. in tallahassee, mike gelca. the state's largest teachers union has brought the program to court challenging whether or not it's constitutional. around 78,000 children in the state are enrolled in that program. still ahead, honoring the life and legacy of the reverend martin luther king jr.

martin luther king jr. in many communities people took time out to tribute dr. king in the way of a parade. josh thomas joining us now where they put a terrific parade every year. >> reporter: they did it again this year too keith. as you can see behind me the streets here in st. petersburg are back to traffic. but they were closed earlier today so that parade watchers and participants that honored dr. king as they have here for years. paradegoers started lining up early to get a good view for the annual martin luther king day parade. >> reporter: drum majoretts lined up to honor dr. martin luther king, the drummer for justice.

the paradegoers today. >> because today is when dr. martin luther king made it possible for people to sit with each other at restaurants and drink from the same water fountain. >> today is a day in history where we all come together as one and unite. and that's great for the whole, for everybody. >> reporter: of course it's also a parade with customary floats and bands all to celebrate dr. king's life and legacy. elizabeth bachman made sure her three daughters didn't miss out. >> this is what life is about. we're progressing every day. you know, and we just have to keep it going and coming together and celebrating is important. >> martha marcelli came all the way from citrus county. she's glad to see so many young people enjoying the parade and hopes they understand the significance of the parade. >> i hope they go back and search into our history and see

temperatures close to the range. 52 weeke wachee. international falls, they used to shoot those battery commercials, if your car can start here it can start any where. and then you see those high clouds kind of moving across the area from west to east. they're not rainmakers they just kind of get in the way of a perfect blue sky. high pressure will continue to shift to the north the next 24 hours and again the winter jackets probably a good idea in many spots if you're dropping into the the 30s to start the day. tuesday afternoon as we get into wednesday morning the coldest night yet this season. looks like we could have a freeze warning for some of those normal areas.
