palin endorsing donald trump. we have live reaction coming up. good evening i'm keith cate. >> and i'm jennifer leigh. we have breaking news. eagle8hd flew over the scene of bishop harbor road. the body of a woman in her 20s was discovered there this afternoon. we have a ground crew headed to the scene and we're going to bring you live updates as soon as we get them. another breaking story, fire crews are at the scene of a car fire near interstate southbound. snn news reporter mcclardy sent us a picture of the scene. as we mentioned freeze warnings are in effect again today for parts of the bay area. people bundled up on their lunch break. and we have a look at our temperatures and how cold they will go tonight, steve. >> reporter: going to drop

any heat we get for today. a little pit of heat developed from the sunshine. so let's take a look at that freeze warning in place. citrus, hernando, inland pasco. this does include sumpter county. it's in effect from 1:00 a.m. till 9:00 a.m. in these areas to protect those plants and also of course the pets as well. and cover the pipes that's always the three ps we tell you about in this cold weather. it's been a while since we've seen this cold weather. 57degrees plant city. st.petersburg. temps will drop pretty quickly this evening under the clear skies. the radiational cooling i was talking about. we'll get you the low temps. temperatures can go below freezing for tomorrow. so we'll look for those forecast lows coming up very shortly as i mentioned below freezing in some of those northern areas. tonight is the night to take those precautions. we'll go through the warming trend.

headed for the weekend, we'll talk about that coming soon. and clean up could take a while in two bay area communities hit hard by tornadoes. drone eight got a good look at the damage in the exelsiur. we're learning more tonight about the children injured in a tornado in the community of duet. we have a firsthand account from the first responders to help the survivors of that tornado. jeff patterson joins us live at the duet volunteer fire department. >> good evening jen, duet is a pretty t small community the kind of place that everybody knows everybody. so when the duet volunteer fire department got word that the tornado was hitting around here, they rushed to help

>> we got the first one at 3:28. >> jeff leonard is the chief of the duet volunteer fire department. when the tornado hit it was so close it affected leonard's home. >> after a few minutes the power went out so we knew we were really in for it. >> reporter: leonard and his daughter serve on the volunteer fire department. they were the first to arrive at a scene of total devastation. >> right then we started hearing kids screaming and yelling. they ran at us out in the dark and rain. >> reporter: four children and the father of the children were injured. katie and jason were killed. the home was not even recognizable when they showed up. >> they had scrapes and bumps and bruises, scared to death. >> reporter: today a family member posted this photo of the children on a go fund me account web page. the account was started by

>> i heard about the devastation that happened and tragedy that unfolded and i felt compelled to try to assist them in any way i can give them. >> reporter: betancourt works at the volunteer fire department at the same station of one of the fathers killed. after the tornado hit the family has endured three days of media at their front door. they asked for a little bit of privacy. they did want to thank the community for all their support, jen. >> our hearts just go out for them. what about the money from that go fund me page. what is that supposed to do. >> reporter: brandon betancourt told me it's going to go to offset the medical expenses and

he told me he hopes people will step up to help. and clean up crews are busy tearing down and removing the excess debris at the condominiums. >> if we can keep anything else from getting damaged that's the contractors first efforts. >> reporter: officials are telling the residents it could be six to nine months before the building is fully restored. now to an 8 on your side warning, a florida resident is the first to get the zika virus

no one has gotten the virus from mosquitoes here in florida. pinellas congressman jolly wants to ban fund raising by members of congress. >> members of congress get pressure to spend most of their time raising money for campaigns and says that kind of behavior has to stop. mark douglas joining us now on jolly's bold challenge. and he's going against the system. >> reporter: and it's no surprise he made that proposition hundreds of miles from washington. >> we're going to pull the curtain back on this today. >> reporter: with a crowd of constituents standing behind him, pinellas congressman jolly called for an end to political fund raising by members of congress. >> folks, freshman members of congress are told when they get to washington, your number one priority is to raise money. >> reporter: so much a priority

and senators are pressured to spend 2/3 of their workweek dialing for donors. jolly wants to ban that practice under what he calls the stop act. >> i'm taking the pledge today to honor the spirit of the stop act. and never directly solicit a contribution from anyone for my campaign or any other campaign. >> reporter: jolly is now running for the u.s. senate and critics may argue this is a political stunt. true or not, it sure resinates with this crowd. >> when he talks about having to pull back the curtain, this is what we need. >> he's 100% on target in my opinion. >> reporter: but how is it going to sell on capitol hill. jolly already has an online commercial. >> 500 people are killed or injured. >> reporter: stopping for ignoring pressing congresses while shaking the money tree. and while all of this is happening, too many in congress are too busy asking for money instead of doing the job you elected them to do.

congress in a full time world. you and i know washington won't like this. >> reporter: congressman jolly claims he has not yet spoken to party. he laughed when i asked if he was looking forward to that phone call, jen. >> i think a lot of people are going to sort of assume that congress does a lot of fund raising. so what's the big reveal today? >> the reveal today, is they spend 3/4 of the time to do this. whether he's pandering, he's at the very least sticking his thumb in the eye of party leaders if that has ever happened to you that hurts. so it's going to be controversial. >> mark douglas reports, thank you mark. breaking news, dr. ben carson has suspended campaign activities today after a car accident. according to a statement a van transporting three campaign volunteers and one employee

hospital. those involved. he was not in the car. and trump is expected to palin. the announcement could help trump retake the lead in iowa. i don't think it's a big surprise here mark and i was thinking this could happen but sarah palin, i mean this is a 2008 vp nominee throwing her support behind donald trump. what does that say to ted cruz and all the other republicans? >> you're right about that. it is a blast from the past. palin's name certainly not forgotten from people in the past. when you're talking about sarah palin there's certain to be a media frenzy. we're hearing these kinds of reports but the confirmation

putting out the word that palin is endorsing him an hour from now. the trump campaign has been criss crossing across the hawk eye state because they wanted to build up some of this momentum. the trump campaign doing this right around the dinner time hour. this is likely what you'll be hearing about for the next several hours. we checked with experts to say a palin endorsement for trump isn't necessarily a guaranteed path to victory. you were just eluding to the 2008 campaign. a lot of people were turned off by what they saw that year. whether or not history will be forgotten is yet to be seen. and many say a trump campaign

scammers are sending text messages. >> reporter: to her this one seemed normal. >> it said sun trust urgent message, please call. >> reporter: she had just used her debit the night before. >> it was at a rather sketchy gas station. so i immediately thought it was a fraud call. that they were going it to my protection. >> reporter: she called and using an automated system provided her credit card number, expiration and three digit number on back and her social security number.

you could be under a threat for those temperatures dropping below freezing. 29degrees invernus. 28degrees in winter haven. 30 in sarasota. there may be some areas, no matter where you are there's lots of cold spots. many places in pinellas county get freezing. 53degrees at 11:00 a.m. for the children's extravaganza. another cold front recooling the air. we're not warming up for the rest of the evening. certainly overnight, temperatures are going to fall especially under those clear skies. 39degrees at 7:00 a.m.

current temp 55 in lakeland. 56 in sarasota. high pressure to the north. an area of low pressure heading to the west. watches in place, but this high is a cold dense area settled across the sunshine state and the rest of the south. still have some high clouds kind of moving along in the subtropical flow. mostly clear skies with us overnight. that's a big reason why we have the freeze warning in place. just that radiational cooling we talk about under clear nights. especially northern areas as this high shifts further south and over us. a lighter wind too and clear skies combine will lead to the very cool conditions. warm temperatures in the 70s and dry throughout this period. looking at the european long range forecast. briefly warming into the 70s pressure. just back to the west. this is what gives us the chances. this is on friday. once this cold front moves through, that will bring the
