good afternoon, everyone, i am meteorologist steve jerve, want to update you orn the tornado watch eroding as the severe weather threat starts to drop around the area. this is hula bay, a severe weather threat gone. 3/10 inch of rain, 64 currently. southwest winds. the next day we will see very strong westerly winds. the front is past the air, the florida highway patrol closed the skyway bridge, the skyway bridge is closed as a result of high winds. pass the word on that until

miles an hour this afternoon and into the overnight period. stay tuned on that but the skyway bridge is closed according to florida highway patrol. back to the northwest things are quieting in terms of the severe thunderstorm watch, it means conditions are favorable for tornados, but mostly high wind gusts and that threat is quickly dropping in citrus, hernando, sumter, pasco county. the watch is still in place but as you see in the line of thundershowers and thunderstorms this is going quickly. no severe thunderstorm warnings in place, we had several issued that expired and not expecting any more to issue but we will stay on it because the watch is in place, the watch put in place by the storm prediction center, local warnings issued by the national weather service in ruskin. there the line of showers, as we go back on viper you can see where they originateed and came

with the severe thunderstorms farther to the north. this intense line came on shore moving quickly at 35 miles an hour and how that progressed throughout the morning hours, look at the time stamp and how short a period of time it takes east across the area. it has been a busy day. you can see on the max radar it shows the activity pushing to the east at avery high rate of speed. if you are in the path of the line of showers and storms this is where and when they are expected. north port at 12:15. a short period of time they start and end. you can see 4-5 minutes or so of intense downpours, it looks like farther south, sarasota and manatee this is weakening, the most intense part remains in the general area here, you can see into the eastern part of hillsborough county, the western parts of polk moving toward

strong wind gusts are the last long. these are storm reports from wind gusts over 40 miles an hour airport. the concern is west of lakeland through the central part of hillsborough, southern part of sumter and maybe northern manatee toward the fish hawk area moving at a rapid rate. this. it will probably pass in 5-10 minutes in terms of the intense part. you might see rain, pick up 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch. the tornado watch is in effect until 5:00 p.m. but we will not need it that long. you just saw citrus, hernando, pasco no longer included in the watch. we will update you throughout the afternoon but the severe weather threat is dropping but stay aware as the watch remains officially.
