stormy skies and downpours couldn't stop the florida state fair. thrill seekers came out for the first day of the fair in hillsborough county. this is the 102nd year for the fair that runs through february 15. law enforcement wants to make sure there aren't any repeats of the bad behavior that we saw this year. you can see it right there

gone in to security this year. joining us with how the sheriff's office is out there in force. chip? >> reporter: well good evening to you, jen. the sheriff's office is being pretty tight lipped as to how many sheriff deputies and law enforcement officers are out here patrolling the state fair. but the major in charge assures me that there are plenty. >> reporter: dozens of sheriff deputies are patrolling the state fair midway. some in uniform and the others in clothes. the message? they are watching what you are doing. >> you have no idea who is looking at you. but additionally that there were several more cameras that were added to the fear. the -- to the fair and several that will be manned all the time. >> reporter: in 2014 team stampeded the midway in an incident labeled as wilding, more than 100 people were

one of those andrew joseph was 14 at the time and was killed being ejected. deputies tell me that there were no issues at the fair last year and they vow not to have a repeat performance of 2014. they hope parents will help them out with that. >> if you know your child is a problem that causes problems and has a group of folks that they hang out with that will cause problems and having tensions of coming out here, i urge you to please keep them home. >> reporter: and the major tells me that those that do come out here to start trouble will be trespassed and told not to come back. those that get into more serious problems will be arrested. reporting live i'm chip osowski news channel 8.

is locked up on some very disturbing charges. investigators believe dr. johnny dragis raped a female patient at his office. officers arrested him yesterday. they believe the assault happened in the florida spine institute of clearwater. dragis faces one count of sexual battery. tonight there's plenty of outrage over some bay area plans made by a blogger who favors or says he favors of legalizing rape. jeff patterson shows us that the event may be canceled, but another one will take its place. >> reporter: curtis hixon park downtown -- hixson is one of the mayor's favorite places. they were holding a meet for those in favor of legalizing rape. >> no need for this. it's a wild group. >> reporter: the website is posting that the meet ups are canceled, but the mayor is

it does occur. >> reporter: on facebook and other social media sites, many people aren't even sure if this is a real event. >> initially i thought it was a joke. >> reporter: john larson did some digging thinking that it could be legit enough. >> to celebrate all walks of life in this case. >> reporter: the protest will be here 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. saturday night. jeff patterson news channel 8. tens of thousands of current and former students at the university of central florida better keep an eye on their credit ratings. hackers have managed to access their personal information. the school says 63,000 students, staff, alumni are affected. the data that slipped out includes social security numbers. those affected should receive the notification next week. holy hold up batman.

side of the law. the dark knight robbing two convenience stores in orange county. investigators are hoping to catch the guy before yet another sequel. well tonight governor rick scott is asking for a media help from the cdc and the battle against the zika virus. as they show us that the call for help comes as the number of zika cases in the sunshine state will climb once again. right now in florida there are 12 reported cases of the zika virus. five counties now declared under a public health emergency. >> we have 20 million people that want to be safe. they want their questions answered. >> reporter: the the governor and the state surgeon general dr. john armstrong demanding the center for disease control provide a thousand antibody testing kits. >> what the antibody test does is to tell us somebody had zika. that's particularly important for pregnant women who travel abroad, who might have had some symptoms of a rash, a fever. >> reporter: the governor says

>> it is true that it could be rigged. >> manatees are like that. >> outside my window it lookeddrizzly. >> and cold. the d word for cold. it's definitely coming up. cooler temperatures are moving in mind the cold front. the showers are moving in on the northeasterly fashion in that line. still some trailing showers out in the gulf behind the front. not -- not a big deal, but plenty of clouds coming along as well. there's the big picture as we look closer to the showers. the orange areas, the yellow areas, areas of the stronger rain shower activity around dade city now. that it looks like they are pushing along 75, moving very quickly at the moment. as you can tell in the last couple of hours they would lose some of their intensity. mostly through pinellas county, still possible up in midnight. but the bulk of the heavier rain, spots in the western part of citrus county. in fact at our camera location that the plantation is there in crystal river and almost two inches of rain.

have them installed, but as peter bernard shows us there is just one problem. they're illegal. >> reporter: hit these speed bumps just right and you could lose your muffler. this one is built more like a curb. there's three of them along port richey. neighbors tell us that speeding are a problem. >> someone is going to take it upon themselves to pick up the expense and save their neighbors some grief. more power to them. >> reporter: cooper paving out of pennsylvania installed the speed bumps. >> to build on a public road is crazy. >> reporter: the neighbors caught the pavers in the act with the security system. >> you have to come to almost a stop or you are going to tear something loose on your car, knock it out of line, you could take a heck of a bump. >> reporter: it is illegal to install speed bumps on a public red on your own. >> we are going to unfortunately have to take it out because it is just a dangerous move for people. it's not marked. there's a process in place.

tonight millions more drivers need to worry about the danger lurking in their air bags. honda is recalling 2.2 million. they include older models going all the way back to 2005 and some newer 2015 and 2016 models of both hondas and acuras. they told dealerships to provide drivers with the loaner car for free. you might want to keep an eye out for a good sale on the gopro. the company announced they will stop making some models of their popular cameras. the company dealt with slowing growth in the second half of 2015. they will now make just three models. the hero for black, silver, session, older less expensive models will be discontinued. youtube's ad-free service has been around for a while now, but something has been missing, original content.

programming is almost here. youtube just announced on february 10 it will premier the first of its original shows. a membership to youtube red will let you watch the movies, a trip to unicorn island, dance camp, and laser team as well as the reality adventure series. youtube red is $10 a month with the first month free. the 18 wheeler complete with the huge tv screens on the back could be hitting the road the next couple of months. the safety truck last summer, testing began. cameras on the front so drivers can see what's up ahead, making passing easier.

smart devices aren't just for adults in constant looks with the cell phone companies. they will let you send them text messages even and you don't need a cell phone. they will go on sale next march. tonight a look at the damage left behind by the possible tornado in georgia. this video is from southwest of savannah as they moved through yesterday afternoon destroying a few cars, causing about 50 people to move out of their homes. the violent storms across the south. most of the rain we're seeing across florida have been quiet. rain has come down to the river as it is dark here. over two inches at the location of the plantation.

most spots in the eastern part of pasco county. the heavier stuff has moved inland, generally weakened. most of manatee covered with rain at this point. and still a chance of showers, probably up until midnight with a few light showers out in the gulf. but the heavier activity has mostly ended. lots of sunshine. that's the high temperature if you're heading out to the fair the next couple of days it'll be nice. it could be breezy and chilly at times. tieing a record high of 60 for the high. 24 degrees cooler than that. from north to south it's cooling off. right now a 20-degree difference. more than that obviously at 55

but the cold air is on their way. so you folks in the south will eventually feel this too as they have taken place in the northwest and moving that cool air farther south. there's a big pressure. way to the north. you can see the rain as you saw on the local radar. they continue to show the front moving through the area. that's kind of wrapping up too with a few clouds left over. then the clearing takes place by tomorrow morning. beyond that as we get in to late friday afternoon, breezy, still cool with a lot of sunshine. maybe pick up a few clouds. we'll hold on to the chillier
