credentials, enabling inspector is playing -- building inspector is playing hide and seek with us. i'm keith cate. >> i'm stacie schaible. a gunshot in the middle of a crowded park, the trigger pulled by a 6-year-old boy, and he got the gun out of his mother's diaper bag. thankfully no one was hurt. the mother's boyfriend owned the gun and is now facing charges. judd chapin, this is scary stuff for those visiting the park. >> reporter: yes, it is. i've been to the park before with my family. normally a peaceful place. it was a beautiful day saturday, and very crowded, so it was shocking when a shot rang out action and even more shocking to find out who fired it. >> >. we started talking agent how to be friends with people. >> reporter: 9-year-old bella was in the park in an organized group of friends.

big boom. >> reporter: just a few feet away a 6-year-old had taken a gun out of his mother's diaper bag. >> all of us started freaking out and didn't know what to do. >> reporter: her mother rushed to the park. >> >. it's a pretty traumatic thing that happened to them, and i don't know how by the grace of god, no one got hurt. >> reporter: police came to the park and charged with 37-year- old with negligence was putting the firearm in his girlfriend's diaper bag. >> yank of too many worse places to store' firearm. >> reporter: and also charged him with tampering with evidence. when he found out police were on the way he tried to throw the gun in the bay. >> he had a right to have the gun, but be mindful of how you take care of it. >> reporter: one woman told me today she was afraid to come back to this normally peaceful

>> it scares me, even today i knew i was coming to a little girl's birthday party, but it scare med. >> reporter: yeah, increeded blue the only injury was the circumstances -- incredibly the only injury was the 6-year-old that suffered a cut lip when the gun recoiled. >> what the did boy's mother do after the shot was fired? >> reporter: according to the witness she told me the woman picked up the gun and put it back in the diaper bag as of nothing had happened. >> wow, incredible stuff. lucky nobody was injured. thank thank you. a store clerk turns the tablings on two men -- tables on two men attempting to rob him. the store clerk is thankful for his life tonight. meanwhile the community is aaron, for the police to find

to find the second gunmanment the first is dead. >> reporter: good evening, when they arrived at the liquor store late last night, they found one of the men on the ground, they figured out who he is, and they're hoping to find his partner who they say fired at the store clerk. that's for sure. >> reporter: that's the sent. for many that frequent this liquor store, the clerks inside >> i wouldn't try it. they should have known. this guy in here, they all loaded, ready to go, so he must not know the neighborhood. >> reporter: surveillance video obtained shows the two gunman walking up and into the store. seconds later they both run out. one of the men collapses on the sidewalk.

>> hey, the other guy lost. >> he needs to go home to his family as well, so he had to do what he had to do. >> reporter: i spoke with the store clerk today and he didn't want to talk on camera, but said he and his wife are tankful he wasn't the -- thankful he wasn't the one killed. the gunmen went into the store firing. >> >. oh, they'll find him. >> reporter: today business resumed at the liquor store. the other clerks telling me they're ready to defend themselves if need be. now people like this woman, a mother of five that works near, is anxious to see the second gunman in hand cuffs. >> i'll talk to my boss about that. >> i have constantly have my head on a swivel. >> reporter: the dead suspect is a convicted felon, and he has several drug charges and has been arrested before for being a felon in possession of a weapon, so a lot of people hoping that they can find that second man this evening. keith back to you.

drug, guns, and explosives, all within reach of a 5-year- old norm a venice coupling is -- now a venice couple is facing charges. dhs came to check on a child in their care, and found rifles, hand guns, two pipe bombs and hand grenades, and also found the drug spice. the child is now in protective custody. he scammed 13 elderly people, and police believe there are more victims. dennis is facing charges. police believe he took money from victims to fix cracks in driveways. one woman gave him hundreds of dollars out of her social security money. >> so he says okay, you need to give me $400 for materials, so i said okay i'm not going to give him cash.

bridge. this project is expected to cost about $192 million. they're very unlikely allies. uber drivers, cab drivers and bus, but they're teaming up to make transportation for accessible. it's called direct connect, and it's aimed at fixing a common transportation problems, gooding access to a -- getting access to a bus stop. >> that's what this partnership is all about, being a part of the community, and increasing access to transportation for the people of pinellas park. >> to use the service just interest a code into the uber app. right now the pilot program is only for pinellas park, but if it's a success it could expand.

>> reporter: he got his $95,000 a year job with the sole requirement of obtaining a permanent license. now the city has to pay outside consultants to do his job at the rate of $140 an hour. what do you tell taxpayers when they see this story about your town building official that doesn't have the legal credentials to do his job and he's paid $90,000 a year? >> well, my explanation is nothing has not been done in the time period. >> reporter: so what's he doing if he's not the town building official? >> you'll have to ask him. >> reporter: we'll love to, but he's playing hide and seek. >> well, he's a busy guy. >> reporter: yeah, busy avoiding us. >> he's not here right no . here. building. >> i was unaware. >> reporter: we tried everything.

some folks in avan park, cbs -- avon park, sebring, may pick up a few showers, but we're just saying you can't rule out the possibility of a passing light shower, especially southern areas. forecast, partly cloudy skies, maybe that stray shower, you just saw them on radar. for tuesday morning partly cloudy skies, light shower possible, we'll lever about a 20 percent -- lever about a 20 percent chance, favoring inland spots, but plenty of clouds with us, and mix in a little sunshine throughout the day. the changes come wednesday. another area of low pressure out of the west, and moves just to the north. it's going to move quickly, so wednesday morning we're talking possibly even for the commute time 6,, 7:00, 8:00 in the morning. the thought the front pushing through, the afternoon is clear, and then start a cooling trend to carry the rest of the week, so definitely not done with the cooler air as you'll see in the seven-day.

rays out fielder steven soza jr. could be the first casualty of spring training. he injured himself diving for a ball, he says it's not serious, but we know how that goes, and all rays pitchers and catchers are accounted for, and each one has had a bull pen session. last spring smiley and cobb experienced trouble, cobb had tommy john surgery, but the manager is thrilled with how the pitchers handled the off season this time. >> last year we had a couple guys in big league camp for the first time, and you know, had opportunities to get to the big leagues, so they probably took some information from last year and utilized it the off season, but for the most part they've come in throwing multiple bull pen, the arms and legs are already underway of being in shape.

lightning woke up this morning in second place in the atlantic division. last week we all panicked after they dropped out of a playoff spot, but three consecutive wins changed that. they're home tomorrow night. now today is the 57th anniversary of this. lee petty, the 42 car in the middle there winning the inaugural daytona 500. it took three days to determine the winner, but thanks to modern day technology we got see the amazing image of denny hamlin winning in the closest daytona 500 ever. it was an incredible finishing. and this was stunning, one of the great runs in college sports came to an end, the tennessee womens basketball team fell out of ap top 25 for
