cut wrenching testimony about -- gut wrenching testimony about how a stalker haunted her for years. >> and tonight we show you what to do to keep your bank information safe. >> more coverage confusion, our 8 on your side investigation exposes more problems with a popular insurance company. i'm jennifer leigh. >> i'm keith cate. tonight. new tonight sportscaster erin andrews on the stand in a national courtroom fighting back tears talks about how her life was forever changed nearly eight years ago after a stalker secretly videotaped her nude inside her hotel room, her words flowing with emotion, gut wrenching testimony at times, hard to watch. erin andrews is suing her stalker and the national marriott over those recordings made through a peephole during her 2008 stay in that hotel. jen holloway in our tampa newsroom tonight with the update. erin andrews knew this day was

it was not easy for her or anyone watching. >> reporter: there was a very extremely emotional erin andrews today the daughter of investigative reporter steve andrews. on the stand she spoke about the pain those photos and video had on her life and her career. >> did you have any idea that you were being videotaped in your room? >> no. >> erin andrews broke down this afternoon as she told the courtroom the fear she experienced after the video was released. >> i was just screaming that i was naked all over the internet and i didn't know what it was and my dad was like -- he thought i had been in a car accident. he said why are you screaming and i'm just like dad, i'm naked all over the internet. >> andrews was distraught as she knew the video was of her, but she had no idea where it came from. >> they said we need to send it to you so we can get the fbi involved and get going. we need to find out who did

>> erin's mother paula taking the stand talking about the toll the video scandal has had on her daughter. >> and now unless there's somebody standing there to protect her, she does not interact with people. she's very, very frightened of crowds. >> erin talked about how she can't sleep. she says she feels ashamed, humiliated and embarrassed. she's hoping this lawsuit will give a little bit of closure. >> i have to do what's right and i have to stand up for myself and i have to stand up for everyone else. this could have happened to anyone and i want the nashville marriott held responsible. >> erin testified in court today and walked out when michael barrett testified how easy it was how to figure out what room andrews was staying in. >> this trial is in its second week and will probably last several more days and erin will be back on the stand tomorrow. so what is the nashville

>> attorneys for the nashville marriott say they were duped as well and claim that barrett manipulated the reservation system to allow him to specifically get the room next- door to andrews to allow him to make that video. now an 8 on your side consumer alert, crooks are using colonialed credit cards in the bay -- cloned credit cards in the bay area. dozens of stolen credit cards were found in their possession. it's a crime that's tough to prosecute because the bad guys know how to stay one step ahead of law enforcement, but a stupid mistake tripped up a pair of credit card cloners. where did they mess up, peter? >> reporter: good evening, jen. the cops tell us these guys had a bunch of credit cards with stolen data on them sent to this toys r us store in clearwater off highway 19. those cards were supposed to go to a fedex store, big whoops. these crooks have expensive

box, all kinds of electronics and other stuff all paid for with these credit cards containing cloned data. >> we don't have everyone identified, but we did have two and put charges on. >> reporter: detective lisa phillips tells me these cases are tough to crack, but in this instance -- >> in this instance the suspects made a mistake. >> reporter: -- all the cards arrived in place. >> instead of arriving at a fedex location it arrived at a toys r us. >> reporter: instead of a normal pickup location as often happens a fedex mail drop, the miami crooks sent the clone- based cards here where employees got suspicious. when marlin diaz and jessica reyes came to pick them up, bingo, you're busted. beach sides all this loot cops found 42 credit -- besides all this loot cops found 42 credit cards and fake id. >> they look pretty convincing to a cashier not scrutinizing them for some specific reason. >> reporter: the sad thing is the real credit card number owners have no idea their good

these purchases. the arrest in this toys r us store could turn into something much bigger. there's a possibility these guys are involved with credit card fraud elsewhere, perhaps across the entire state. >> we give advice about this kind of stuff all the time, but what's the best way to guard against this kind of fraud with your own credit cards. >> reporter: this is a good opportunity to remind folks it's really easy put an letter on your credit card. alert them if you have a certain spending level charged, you get a text or e-mail. they'll do it. it's free. most credit card companies offer it. big thing is check your statement often. >> good advice, peter bernard live in clearwater tonight. thank you. police in tamper also working -- tampa are also working a credit card fraud case. this couple in the video were caught using stole be credit cards at publix and babies r us in tampa. if you have information on who they might be, call crime stoppers because you could be eligible for a $3,000 reward. deputies are stepping up

explains why. a student was beaten up so hospital. the brawl happened at alonzo high school friday. it has parents concerned for student safety at the school. a viewer sent in the photos to news channel 8 showing a student being wheeled from the school on a stretcher friday. several students tell us there have been a number of fights at the school, but a school spokesperson maintains rumors are blowing everything out of proportion. >> today we did have an increased presence at the school in part because of the fight that we had friday, but also because there were a lot of rumors floating around in the neighborhoods this weekend and also on social media. >> the school insists only two students were directly involved in the fight friday. other fights occurred at the school last week, but school officials do not believe they are related to the fight that took place on friday. thinking? tonight dumb criminals caught

melanie michael live in hillsborough county, thank you. now to our your vote coverage in the race for the white house, the insults continue to fly between republican frontrunner donald trump and florida senator marco rubio. trump's rally in virginia was interrupted by protesters and an altercation between a photojournalist and a secret service agent assigned to donald trump. in tennessee rubio called out trump and trump responded in kind. >> it's called a con job and we are not going to allow a con artist to take control of the party of lincoln and reagan. >> oh, he's a conman. i guess he had to come up with something because he's getting creamed in the polls like 20 points down in florida. >> among democratic voters the latest nationwide poll shows hillary clinton leading bernie sanders 55-38%. in person early voting started today for registered republicans and democrats in hillsborough and polk counties.

shannon behnken explains why her doctors in florida blue are demanding thousands of dollars that she doesn't have. >> we just have spent the whole week trying to figure out what we're going to do. >> reporter: marla banta has files full of medical bills. >> like i said, this one is a $72,000 bill. >> reporter: her florida blue plan under obamacare kept her serious medical conditions somewhat affordable, but all this insurance came to a screeching halt last week when doctors started calling with terrible news. florida blue insisted her 2015 plan was canceled meaning every claim paid for the entire year must be returned to the insurance giant. >> 65, this shouldn't be happening now, really shouldn't. wrong. >> reporter: marla canceled for 2016 but not for 2015. she even has a florida blues

i can't pressuring florida blue for an answer and today a spokeswoman told me that this is due to technical issues and it only affects a limited number of customers, but this is so frustrating. >> if you're one of those customers, though, you can see why this woman is so upset about this. that's a lot of money you're talking about and what if this happens to someone else? what should you do first and what are they doing to fix her problem? >> they tell me they are trying to fix her problem, it's a technical issue and they've given us some numbers which we've listed on our website. if you are having an issue with florida blue, there is a place you can go in tampa bay now. >> thank you. another big announcement from apple is a few weeks ago. industry insiders expect the next product launch to come on march 22nd. tech experts are expecting a new 4-inch iphone. it would be nearly identical to the iphone 5 but with significant upgrades to the hardware on the inside.

they also anticipate an ipad update and new versions of the apple watch. starting today ticket prices at walt disney world will be based on seasonal demand. what does that mean? the calendar is divided into value, regular and peak periods. that means a one day pass at disney will cost anywhere between 99 and $112 depending when you go. peak days include most of december, spring break weeks and july weekends. season 10 of the voice got underway tonight right here on nbc and there's some really good talent this year. the blind audition showed off a new collection of singers trying to impress the coaches, enough to get them to turn those chairs around. when it comes to describing what it takes to make them hit the red button, the coaches say it can be tough to put a finger on. >> it's a feeling you either get or don't get and a lot of times it's not something that can be explained. it's really tricky. i don't think it's really

feel the way you do about certain music in general, but then on the show of it's like it's all instinct. >> and here's a little tease for you. coming up tomorrow night on the voice, a contestant from the tampa bay area will take the stage. so much talent here locally. you can watch it right here on news channel 8 starting at 8:00. well, last extra day of february today with the leap year, so we're looking back at the rainfall in the month, pretty close to normal, slightly below. 71 degrees, was 2 degrees cooler than the average temperature for the month. so we did anticipate a cooler month, but the wetter part didn't work out so well. average temperature looking ahead to march in the forecast 76 degrees. average about 3 inches. the forecast from the climate prediction center says average temperatures a little bit wetter in terms of precip. if you saw this in the sky, jupiter looking east after about 9 p.m.

what it was in the sky, jupiter, had very nice visibility and this picture in from paula today in st. petersburg at a senior tennis tournament. that's a dust devil right there, had to call a little water break while this dust devil wound up and moved away. at least it cleared some of the dust off the deck. 57 degrees for the morning, mostly sunny, start with mild temperatures, mostly sunny skies, expecting a few high clouds across the area but generally fairly nice. in the afternoon some fair weather clouds, 77 degrees, probably a warmer feeling to the day than our 74 degrees, bringing moisture back in the afternoon. 60 degrees at 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 50 serve degrees at 7 a.m., sunshine mix -- 57 degrees at 7 a.m., sunshine mixed with clouds. 74 the high we recorded today, actually our typical high for the year. 56 degrees right now, palm harbor, 56 in new port richey,

center 59 degrees. lakeland upper 50s, venice 51, crystal river 50, kind of chilly but not as cold as les night. a cold front north of us -- last night. a cold front to the north of us and we have expect that to sweep into the bay area wednesday, adding a few clouds, slight chance of rain and a wind shift from the north. high clouds continue to stream across the florida straits. our p.m. forecast model calls for mostly clear conditions overnight, blue skies, sunshine, mid-50s to start the day with loads of sunshine, should balance out to a gorgeous day in the afternoon, maybe a few clouds build up with our additional moisture, but here comes the front. timing looks to be midday or so. by the afternoon we see a wind switch out of the north. we aren't anticipating showers and norms along the bound dry. maybe -- thunderstorms along the boundary. maybe a slight chance of seeing

the winds will reinforce the slightly cooler drier air in place and set up a very nice thursday. forecast lows tonight, some of these areas are pretty close to their forecast lows, but the dew points and humidities made a bit of a return. 74 degrees for wednesday after that front passes through with the slight rain chance. next rain chance again slight for friday with a cold front, 73. that in turn sets up a beautiful weekend with those temperatures really close to average. when you're really close to average this time of year, you're really getting some very nice weather. that's what we're expecting this weekend, highs very close to that 74-degree average with lots of sunshine. >> i'm glad to know that on monday night you're already looking to the weekend. you're thinking like me. >> of course. >> like people everywhere think. >> i'm looking forward to the weekend on the weekend. coming up next in sports the lightning's tyler johnson does something amazing one night after he takes a puck to the head.
