>> i'm stacy sc -- schaible. >> marry mcguire shows us how driving too slow will cost you. >> we're in the height of tourism season in florida and the florida highway is caution gs drivers that they could be fined if they don't obey the minimum speed limits. >> florida is a destination state for many moving to the state, we have a lot of people coming here for tourist, people coming here to vacation from across the entire globe actually. so there's a lot of people that bring their driving behaviors here. >> sergeant says the state is expected to see close to 100 million visitors in this year alone. meaning lots of unfamiliar drivers on tampa bay

if you're caught driving slow, you could be fined more than $150. i'm mary mcguire, news channel 8. the reason so many drivers come to florida is because of the weather. let's check with meteorologist julie phillips. >> it's a great time in the tampa bay area. looking from clearwater beach, you can see clouds hanging around this location. darker clouds there. we're tracking a cold front moving through, but temperature s are falling back into the mid-60s and there's the front on the radar. you can see making its way through the tampa bay area. can't rule out sprinkles as this moves through, but overall, not expecting much in the way of rainfall for this afternoon and into this evening. if we take a look at the big picture, we're going to look at this you can see clearing behind it. both fronts are pretty weak as they move through the tampa bay area. currently, 71 in palm harbor and 73 in temple terrace and loots.

inland spots. up to 82 in bartow and 80 in frost proof. temperatures are along the cost. temperatures tonight behind the front, this is what we'll see the cooler air move in. we'll fall back to 52 in temple terrace and 52 in plant city. land o lakes will drop down to 50 degrees and seeing 40s on the map in our northern counties. we'll be around 45 in inverness. we warmup pretty quickly as we head into the afternoon hours. if you're thinking to heading to the spring training games, it's not going to be bad for the blue jays verses the pirates and the phillies verses the yankees and mid-60s. we'll talk about the upcoming weekend in your full forecast. if have you to go to the irs office in tampa, you might want to bring endurance and a lawn chair.

past couple of days, there have been abnormally long lines to get service. take a look at that. a good majority of these folks victims of identity theft. and they had to go to the irs to see an agent. today, florida is one step closer to having a death penalty back on the books. mike with that story from our capital bureau. >>reporter: a nearly evenly divided state senate voted to allow a 10-2 jury recommendation in death cases, but if it wasn't pressure from prosecutors, they likely would have voted for a unanimous jury. >> a defendant has the right to have the jury, not the judge to find -- >> the senate was closely divided on whether after the first vote attend two jury recommendations was enough or if the jury should be unanimous in a recommendation for death. >> there should be no doubt among any of the jurors that this is the right thing to do.

prosecutors have is giving the opportunity for one or two jurors to hijack the entire process. >> one signed into law and the legislation would put the law back in the books on florida. it's unclear to those inmates currently on death row. from the state capitol, i'm mike bafalinda. a mother is shaking after a road rage incident. she says a man pulled a gun on her and deputies are pointing a finger at an armor truck employee. it happened sunday. a man cut her off so she honked her horn and flashed her lights. a short time later while relaying the message to her husband on her cell phone, she said the man pulled in front of her. >> i told my husband, he's got a gun. i started screaming, he's

next 48 hours, this master exhibit hall, it's going to be packed with everything from boats to fishing equipment, but to get there, they have to start with bringing everything in. >> the great thing about coming to a show like this, you have the opportunity to coming to one place and sees dozens of different boat lines. you would have to travel all over the bay area to see the boats you can see in this one place. >> straight back on the transit. as we get closer to news channel 8 expo and boat show, crews scramble to put the finishing touches on the expo hall. >> when you come in here and the show is going on, you won't be able to see any of that. but now it's our way of diagramming the floor so we know where everybody is supposed to go so when a boat dealer comes in, i'll know where to lead them. >> jim gave me the grand tour

>> spring time is the great time -- last night we talked about owe-- we talked about astronaut scott kelly returning to earth. he landed late last night. we'll hear from him later on in the newscast. exciting time in space. for us this evening, we're tracking the cold front moving through. we can't rule out a light sprinkle in the next couple of hours, but it's looking dry. into the overnight, lingers clouds and high clouds through the overnight hours and temperatures are going to be cooler for tonight as well. dropping back down into the mid-50s by tomorrow morning. so a cooler start, you may want a light jacket. we'll warmup quickly. you can see the extra clouds along it, but this is not a robust front. this is going to have minimal impact in our forecast, which you're in thing right now.

thicker cloud cover, but we're not seeing the showers that's developing. we don't have enough moisture in place, so it's not picking up on a whole lot as it moves through. as we head through the evening hours, if you have late evening plans, expect to see clouds around, but don't expect to see much rain. you want to keep a light jacket tomorrow morning because it's going to be cooler again. 40s in our northern counties. 50s across the tampa bay area and sunny during the morning hours and a few clouds building in through -- normal temperatures still in the mid-70s for tomorrow, and there's our next front arriving friday morning very early. we may see some showers along this front, but the majority of them will be before 7:00 a.m. so before most of you head out, we'll see light showers that will roll through. the front passes very quickly and skies will clear and behind this front, we'll make it into the low 70s friday afternoon. as we head into saturday, that front is long gone and things

in the mid-70s and we're expecting plenty of sunshine all weekend long. a chance to see showers friday morning and things looking dry for the weekend, and then check out next week, we start to heat up. we're back into the 80s for tuesday and wednesday. and it certainly does feel like spring outside and blooming plants, that means they're doing their thing and did you know in the last year, 19.1 million people have been diagnosed with hayfever. that's according to the cdc which is 8% of adults in the u.s. so how do you deal with allergies this satisfies eason? 8 on your side has answers today. joining me is dr. jill and for some people, they're already feeling it. i have hayfever. it hasn't gotten bad yet, but others in the news room were complaining about it. >> it starts around april, but since we live in florida and it gets warmer quicker, march is the time it peeks.

keep your windows closed. work out at the gym as opposed to working out outside and stay away from whatever your triggers are. >> that makes good sense. and how do i know where to start with when it come to over the counter medicine, how much time do you give it? >> it should work quickly. i would try it a couple of times and if it's not working, move on. if you're going to work, you can't take one that makes you feel sleepily and the others are the nasal steroids and some are over the counter. saline washing of your nose. >> there's a lot of people suffering here shortly. >> pretty quickly. >> thanks for your help. over to you josh. thank you guys. besides allergies, the spring is a good time for cleaning. why not

little on the cool side and a light sweater to start, by 3:00 p.m., near 70s in plant city and a few clouds and temperatures dropping back after sunset tomorrow night. there's the as it moves through, we'll see lingering clouds through the overnight hours. tomorrow will be cooler. the cold front is tomorrow. we're thursday, clouds will return and there's the second front. it arrives friday early in the morning hours so we could see a few showers roll through with this front, but it clears out quickly. generally ending by 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. across our area. most of the rain will be overnight if we see any at all and temperatures behind it will be in the 70s. a nice pleasant forecast for you as we head into this coming weekend. notice, saturday up to 74. 76 and mostly sunny on sunday with temperatures jumping into the 80s for the middle of next week. josh. >> julie, thank you much. march is national nutrition month.
