>> it's 7:00. and the station that is on your side is on your schedule. 8 at 7:00 begins now. good evening. we are just days away from florida's crucial primary. both democratic candidates are in tampa today as a result. and right now, the republican candidates for president are in miami. they are getting ready to face off in tonight's debate. but, all the media attention quickly shifted to governor rick scott following an awkward interview on msnbc about islam. keith cate tracked the governor down. what happened in miami, i know you had a little time to go face to face with the governor. >> reporter: it is interesting. you never know who you will meet. there's carly fiorina making the rounds. governor scott was on fox news talking to someone right now. it is interesting when you see rick scott. he wanted to make it clear because everyone wanted to know

the answer, nobody. not until after the primary on tuesday. then what do you expect to see in tonight's debate? he expects to see questions about the economy. jobs, jobs, jobs. but i wanted to know, like you, what was going on with him on morning joe. he was asked a question in related to something trump said yesterday. here how it played out. >> donald trump can talk about the things he wants to talk about. marco rubio, ted cruz, john kasich. >> no. no. no. that's not answering any questions. rick, rick, rick. i know you and joe are friends and this is kind of awkward, but can you answer the question or should we scoot? >> well, i can tell you i'm glad everybody is in florida.

the debate will be fun tonight. >> reporter: yeah. just kind of went on like that. it was awkward to say the least. seemed like a simple question. you know, donald trump says islam hates america. do you think muslims in florida hate america? he just went around and around. when i saw him today, i couldn't help but ask him do you want to clarify that? i think i know what he was going for. here is what he did. >> do you want to change your comments or clarify what you were trying to say? >> i always enjoy being with joe and micah. they have a great program. a great show. they love politics. there are people that love our country. there are people that don't love our country. it is not a surprise that radical muslims done love our country but our state is a melting pot. we have 700 languages spoken here. people from all walks of life here.

governor scott on the redo did much better but it is awkward. the wheels start turning. what should i say? who will i offend? but the governor is making the rounds here. we are about two-and-a-half hours away from the debate. governor scott was being considered as a running mate with donald trump believe it or not. he was asked about that. he said i like the job i'm at. so are you going to be a running mate? i like the job i'm at. it was kind of like morning joe repeat. candace mccowan joins me now. when you go on a morning show you never know what will happen. our mayor in tampa made an appearance as well. >> reporter: mayor bob buckhorn talked about how marco rubio had never been to see him in tampa. >> if he loses his own state badly, that's a referendum on

and if he is miserablely defeated on tuesday, the voters are telling him maybe you better go back to the private sector and find something else to do. >> reporter: yeah, so obviously, not another great thing that marco rubio wants to hear this week. he is not the only person calling for him to step out of the race. ted cruz getting another big endorsement today. carly fiorina supporting him as well. so not a lot of good news for marco rubio. >> mike lee supported him and carly fiorina doing the same thing. we are 90 minutes away from the debate. donald trump wants a softer debate. i think marco rubio is going to go after him, but not get in the gutter. he is not going to make, i don't think, crazy jokes that might make people think less of him. >> reporter: that is important. his supporters say they don't want to see that type of marco rubio. >> reporter: again, 90 minutes

including all of the outlet stores. they have not said which locations will be working and which will be out of a job. less than wonderful news for pistachio workers. the pistachios were sold nationwide under the names trader joe's. health officials are investigating 11 salmonella cases linked to the pistachios. none of them are in florida though. 8 on your side found a towing company targeting cars with expired tag stickers. they are being charged hundreds of dollars. at least one of those didn't have an expired tag, but the owner is still on the hook. shannon behnken found out all of it is actually legal.

visiting a wind at fox croft apartments. he had no idea a tow truck driver was on control. >> i was shocked. i know i didn't park in a handicap spot. what did i do? >> reporter: it was the sticker on his tag. brown's registration was paid but he forgoat to change that yellow tag. >> if i did something wrong you got me. >> reporter: it didn't matter to professional towing. it cost $170 cash to get the car back. no one at the apartment complex would talk so we went to professional towing. no luck there either but we did run into someone else with a car towed from another apartment complex also for an expired tag. >> there wasn't a point where i was like i just want to burn the car. i don't want anything to do with this car anymore.

across places like texas, mississippi, louisiana. high pressure has been in place across florida. quiet conditions across the east coast and florida. but as soon as you head west, this is where all of the storms have just been trapped so we have been seeing showers and storms moving over the aim areas the last couple of days leading to the flash flooding. you can see more rain coming down in texas. more in mississippi as well. some areas have seen over a foot in the last 48 hours. if you can believe that. for us, no rain, just yet. waking up tomorrow morning. a very mild start to the day in the mid 60s . we will top out in the low to mid 80s . expect a little more cloud cover tomorrow. but overall, a gorgeous friday for you to enjoy. and even through this evening it will stay very quiet tonight. when you wake up tomorrow morning you will notice that mix of sun and clouds. that is what we will be seeing all day long. but that southeasterly flow allows us to warm back into the low to mid 80s . headed into saturday morning a warm dry start to the weekend.
