hulk hogan's payday from gawker just got bigger. $115 million last friday. just a little over an hour ago that , same jury returned with a decision in the punitive phase of the trial. peter bernard live in st. pete. peter, that means the original bigger? >> reporter: bigger. a lot bigger, jen. good evening to you. it's a banner day for hulk hogan. the jury today decided that gawker needs to pay him $15 million. another $10 million from gawker's founder, and $100,000 from one of gawker's editors. here's how it went down today. the ten-day trial ended last week with the jury deciding hulk hogan, terry bollea, will get more than he asked for. they awarded him $115 million. today's decision was after four hours of deliberation.

if noaa leaves macdill's air force base. the problem. they need to make room for additional refueling tankers and other employees coming in. >> 18 now. a total of 24 bringing an additional 400 people here. >> reporter: nelson insists noaa is not being evicted. simply looking at better options. but staying on the base could be costly. >> it's no secret that there would have to be some additional building here, and that's a $90 million item either for noaa or for the air force. >> reporter: something that could be determined in the upcoming fiscal year. if you remember a couple weeks ago, congressman david jolly, he suggested that noaa move their headquarters to the st. pete clearwater international airport. but again as you heard senator nel on reiterate, he believes that noaa should stay right here in tampa. again, noaa is expected to

some quick thinking by a tampa police officer saved his own life and the life of a wrong-way driver on i-275 over the weekend. dashcam video captured the close call. steve andrews shows us it was quite way for a dui cop to end his night. >> reporter: it happened in a second. >> expressway wrong way. >> reporter: sunday, 5:06 a.m., tampa police officer scott van trees veers to the right to avoid a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver on i-275 south. when he got off the interstate, a cruiser was there waiting for her. >> she was more concerned about asking the officers why they weren't out arresting murders and drug dealers than the consequences to her action. >> reporter: she joins a growing list of bay area drivers involved in wrong way incidents. last week a man plowed into a hillsborough deputy, killing them both. florida's department of

a million bucks installing lights that flash when drivers go up the ramp the wrong way. >> you'd have to be daft to not notice the lights and signs to prevent people from going the wrong way. fdot says every one of the drivers looked at going the wrong way has been impaired. this is a dui problem. >> as you heard, steve mentioned we do know tonight the driver who killed a deputy in a drinking a lot. eric macbeth had a blood alcohol level of .27 at the time of the crash on the selman expressway on march 12th. both macbeth and deputy john kotfila died in that crash. three men died and one was injured when their car hit a tree and split this morning. sierra police say around 3 a.m. the four were travel fast when

into a tree. the collision split the car in men. the sole survivor is recovering at a hospital. toxicology tests are being done to see if drugs or alcohol played a role. families of the victims have identified the two men killed in a fiery plane crash at peter o. knight airport. his close friend kevin careeno was on born the twin-engine cessna that crashed on take- off. dave hickman served in the air force reserves with careeno and was his friend for more than 30 years he was an extremely passionate guy. he would help his friends. he was extremely intelligent. and was a very loving husband grandfather. >> the ntsb will release a preliminary report in a week or so.

on wall street today the dow gained 21 points. the s&p was up 2. the nasdaq gained 13 points. apple is hoping you will give them more money. ceo tim cook unveiled several new products, including a smaller iphone and smaller pascal dupuis pro. lindsey mathis joins us to break down the latest additions to the apple line-up. >> reporter: the big headline, there is a brand new iphone. this is not an iphone 7. instead, they are calling this one the iphone se. it's a 4-inch phone and it's one of their more affordable models. it starts at about $400. and there is also a brand new

it has the pro features and they are releasing a new model. they will have brighter screens and be less reflective. it will adjust to ambient light. there is a new ios update as well as it's coming with something called night shift. and one of the problems with iphones right now is that the blue light that emits from the screen sends signals to our brains that keep us awake. now there is night shift. it's going to automatically remove a lot of the blue light and present warmer tones that will help us get some sleep. that way we can have our phones in our beds and eventually fall asleep. you can download the new update today. they are focusing on the environment. they have liam that separates metal from your phone. to go with the apple watch there are new band colors and a new woven nylon band.

the watch will now start at $299. and if you've got apple tv, there is a brand new update. you will be able to organize using folders. the best part is voice activation including for search and passwords. you can even ask siri to find something good to watch, and i am sure she is going to tell you to watch channel 8. listen to this. court documents claim starbucks routinely cheats its customers by 25% in order to save on the cost of milk. a lawsuit could end up being a class-action suit, which means anyone who has ordered a lay that at starbucks could join in. a new kind of aircraft is getting ready to take flight. one that can stay in the air for five days and land almost anywhere.

was just unveiled in the u.k. it's currently the world's largest aircraft and it combines the best features of an airplane, helicopter, and airship. the developers believe it will be useful for military surveillance, communications, and disaster relief since it will be able to deliver supplies to places that don't have an airport. our producer returned from a trip to death valley in california where they are having a wildflower super bloom. the super bloom happens about once a decade when the desert gets enough rain. flowers at the lowest elevations have already started fading, but higher elevations see blues for a few more weeks. the longer we stay with this video, the more gorgeous pictures we get to see. daniel woodrum is the name of that producer. daniel, thanks for bringing that out. for tampa gonna be a chilly

in the upper 30s across northern portions of the area and for late march that's chilly stuff. the high pressure you see shifting quickly off to the east and the flow around that high will give us more of a southeasterly flow wednesday morning. as we look back to the west we see a cold front approach the area thursday midday. a few showers and thunderstorms in the south. that will stall out, especially for friday, saturday, and sunday, and that will be an area where showers can develop as we head through the weekend. 50 degrees clearwater tonight. 45 lakeland and north port. a chilly one. looks like highs tomorrow mostly in the 70s. 80 degrees wednesday. 82 degrees on thursday. 78 degrees for friday. note the rain chance here at 40% for good friday. and also for saturday. 30% chance on easter sunday itself. so temps are going to stay warmer. we are going to jump back quickly. rain chances become a bit unsettled through the holiday
