are stacie schaible and josh benson. >> good evening. isis has claimed responsibility for the bombings in brussels. >> more than 30 people are dead. at this hour, the number of injured stands at more than 200. the attacks happened in the belgian capital. two blasts went off at the brussels airport. then, less than an hour later, an explosion at a metro station about ten miles away. we begin our team coverage tonight with jenn holloway who is live in the tampa news center. >> reporter: belgian police not wasting any time finding those responsible for today's terror. we have learned as the search for suspects continues, belgian police have seized a bomb, chemicals, and isis flag in raids taking place hours ago. all of this because of this morning's cowardly terrorist attacks. in belgium, worst fears reallyized. >> we were fearing terrorist attacks and that has now happened. >> reporter: morning attacks on a subway station and the

it all started with two explosions in the hall of the airport. just outside of airport security check points around 8:00 a.m. brussels time. about an hour later, an explosion at the subway station. both attacks at peak morning hours. >> it is unbelievable. >> reporter: the two men in black seen here? they think they were responsible for a suicide attack at the airport. officials are now looking for the man in white. he is a suspect. the terror just four days after the arrest of salah abdeslam, the last suspect sought in november's paris attacks. belgian security sources told cnn it is their assumption the network carrying out the brussels attacks is the same one who took out the attacks in paris. president obama addressed the attacks. >> we will do what is necessary to support our friend and ally belgium to bring to justice those responsible.

third undetonated bomb at the airport and at a news conference today, the ceo of the airport said they are waiting to confirm whether the airport could potentially reopen thursday. >> jenn holloway, thank you. well, three american missionaries are among the scores of people injured in the attacks. 66-year-old richard norby, 20- year-old joseph emphy, and mason wells were at the airport when the bombs went off. they are in the hospital in critical condition. breaking news. part of denver international airport has been evacuated because of a suspicious package. we are told a section of the main terminal is evacuated while a bomb squad investigates the threat. this isn't affecting any flights taking off or landing there. heightened security is in place

including tampa international airport. traveler theres saw more security there. air forces and k-9s were at work. tsa agents were also deployed to work in the common areas before you go through airport security. there are no direct flights from tampa international to brussels. >> all airport staff are supposed to be looking around looking for anything suspicious. we know what the airport is supposed to look like. so we know when something doesn't look right. >> meanwhile, usf is telling newschannel8 that they have made contact with two staff members traveling for work in brussels and they are safe. no word on when they are expected to return home. >> and, the attack is hitting close to home. a lakeland man spent the day reaching out to friends and colleagues from brussels. he runs a tour business and sends people on vacations to that area.

>> reporter: that's right. he spent a week there with his wife. he gave me some of the souvenirs from the trip. this is difficult for them. >> it will be a busy day of checking up. >> reporter: shane mahone has spent much of the day on his phone making sure his friends and colleagues in brussels are okay. >> i want to make sure everybody is safe. >> reporter: he has been glued to his computer. >> i have been following the story as much as possible to learn what has been developed and how it will affect things. >> reporter: he runs lugo's travel. a tour business based in lakeland. he organizes trips to brussels. >> in the last several months we have had $450 round trip tickets available from orlando to brussels. and so, really, it has made europe quite a lot more affordable for a lot of people. >> reporter: it is somewhere he enjoys so much, he went with his wife last month.

families of the people out there. obviously. as safe as we felt while we were there and everything going well at the same time, that doesn't help the people that are in that situation there now. >> reporter: so far, everyone he has reached out to is safe. but the tragedy still hits too close to home. >> i just heard back from a friend. so that's good. he is good. >> reporter: so he doesn't have anyone touring brussels right now. but he did get a text during the interview. he wanted to make sure they were okay. stacie? >> melissa, thank you. the state of florida is marking the tragedy in belgium with a show of respect. governor rick scott has ordered flags around the state be flown at half staff to honor the

they will stay at half staff until sunset of next monday. >> hopefully, this will never happen in our state, but you look at paris and brussels. you always have to be careful. >> and, people are sharing this image all over social media in the wake of the terror attacks. the french newspaper les mans shared this image showing the french flag comforting a crying belgian flag. the date is from today. website. now, # on your side special coverage of president obama's historic visit to cuba. >> today, with president obama watching from the stands, the tampa bay rays became part of history. they played against the cuban national team and our very own

>> do you think it will change anything? >> reporter: this man said it was good obama was at the game and good he is going to other places. he thinks all of it will make a difference. the rays players an coaches acknowledged the significance of this moment. >> you think this brings the country together a little more? >> i do. i feel like this is a big step. and, just to be able to share common ground like this. it's amazing. >> reporter: before the game, television appealing for political liberties, economic reform and human rights in cuba. the white house called this the crowning moment of this trip which culminated with the track of the bat. [ cheers and applause ] and young people are especially optimistic. this woman told me she wants better relationships between the people from our two countries but believes the embargo must be lifted for that to happen. president obama shares the thoughts.

>> welcome back. for the second time in two days, sarasota police are investigating a deadly accident. an suv crossed the median on fruitville road this morning, went airborne, and hit two other cars head on. a man in one of the cars, randy henson of north port was killed. two sky divers are in tampa general hospital after collides midair. both were wing suit jumping when it happened. one was able to pull his

onto county road 54 using a reserve chute. a warehouse once obsolete has a new life as a luxury apartment building. the ribbon was cut this morning on the warehouse lofts in seminole heights. there are 44 lofts as well as studio and two bedroom apartments. this is the first major new development in seminole heights in recent memory. an 83-year-old woman was ripped off at an atm by a criminal. >> coming up, that victim tells 8 on your side her cautionary tale as police try to track

>> an elderly woman was scammed at an atm right before her eyes. >> a crook stole hundreds of dollars from her account while she stood nearby. she spoke with our john rogers who joins us live from sarasota. this could happen to anybody, john. >> reporter: it certainly can. it all went down at this bank of america off of bee ridge road here in sarasota. it happened very quickly so the woman wanted to share her story with others because with little caution and awareness, you can avoid the headache she is experiencing. >> and i hate being taken advantage of. >> reporter: 83-year-old dawn did not want us to use her last name. but she wants others to learn from her mistake. on monday afternoon, she was at this atm on the right finishing her transaction when a man using the man on the left approached her.

me over and said will this machine take a deposit? >> reporter: the man claimed his machine wasn't working properly and he needed to use hers. so he moved right over and started using it. >> and then i thought you really are stupid dawn, you don't know that he finished your transaction and put his car in. >> reporter: he was captured on surveillance camera stealing her money and running off. >> it was $800 less than it should have been. >> reporter: she never ended her session before the man took over the machine. >> it just happened so fast. and, very well planned. >> reporter: sarasota county deputies are geting the word out because this could happen to anyone. it pays to be extra cautious. >> whether you are making a withdrawal or a deposit. be aware of your surroundings. >> reporter: dawn is embarrassed but she is sharing

73 in lakeland. 72 in frost brew. across the rest of the state, just a gorgeous day. a lot of sunshine. maybe a few clouds in the keys but a near perfect day. i love this time of year. that is the water vapor. not much of it at the high levels. this red color indicates very dry air aloft. so we will expect a high pressure to continue to dominate over the next couple of days. we do see this area of high pressure shifting and building to the east. that will give us more of an easterly flow. you tend to pick up a bit more humidity. it just makes it warmer. that is what we will experience the next several days. overnight, clear skies. dry conditions. mostly clear. beautiful. pretty close to seasonal lows for tonight, too. waking up, a sunny start. not as cold in the 50s . and, as we get into the afternoon, another dry day with a very quick warmup for us. but note that wind direction. that will be more southeasterly. that will help to make it milder. as we get into thursday morning, mostly sunny skies. mild, a few clouds.

may clip the eastern and inland portions of the bay area. high lands county, polk county. maybe a better chance for that day. but it is reallily about the approaching cold front. isolated showers will develop near or on the boundary. and then this front just stalls out for a period of time. it helped enhance the rain chances because the boundary is stuck about halfway across the state. maybe a little to the north. 55 degrees. forecast low in river view tonight. 48 crystal river. 56 in winter haven. high temperatures for tomorrow. a beautiful day. though a little warmer than it was today. we had just a gorgeous day. a cool start to the day certainly. but the warm march sunshine really helped. 20% rain chance thursday. as for friday, we see about a 40% chance there for good friday on and off. the possibility does exist. as we get into saturday. another rain chance there as well at 50%. probably a little heathery

in havana. the lightning host the depretty red wings. this is a big one. tonight marks the begins of the bolts final home stand of the season. this playoff race is far from over. with ten games to play, the bolts can grab first place in the atlantic division with a win. they are also just four points ahead of the wings for that last wild card spot. >> you go through a stretch where we did win nine in a row. and then you lose five of six. and you go on the road trip. and you go 500. and now, we get a chance tonight to win and be first of the division. with ten games left in the season, lit be that way until the end. >> you go on a hot streak you are in. a cold streak, you are out of the playoffs. this says a lot.
