hunters. rare items are going to the auction block tomorrow. we will show you a preview of what's for sale. i'm rod carter. >> i'm jennifer leigh. >> we begin with breaking news. a depression under a home in hudson on mediterranean court. take a look at this video. these pictures were just sent into us by the pasco county area. this was near the beacon woods golf club, this hole is 25 to 30 feet in diameter. and the homeowners are out of town. h and we bring you the latest updates as we get those in. >> tonight, we are learning more about the family at the center of an unimaginable crime. a mother, kathleen steele faced the judge hours ago charged with the death of her baby. they believe her six-year-old son killed her 13 day old daughter while the children were unsupervised in the family van. neighbors tell us they often

children. >> just unbelievable. i don't know how things like that could happen. now a six-year-old could turn that bad that quick. i don't know what was going through his mind. >> a pinellas county judge ordered today if steele can post bond, she is not to have any contact with her children or anyone under the age of 18. we will get a psychologist's opinion in a couple of minutes. now, to breaking news. a judge overturned the conviction who was featured in the netflix show making a murder. attorneys argued his confession was coerced. he was 16 years old at the time. and avery was tried and convicted. popularity of the netflix show has brought the 2005 case back into the public eye. right now, heavy rain is causing rivers to overflow along the gulf coast. some areas of mississippi and louisiana received ten inches or more of rain.

in gulf port. two rivers in louisiana are predicted to rise to record levels over the weekend. we are going to to continue to keep an eye on this situation. jerry sandusky wants his charasovstant coach arrived at a pennsylvania courtroom hoping to prove he was wrongly convicted. he spent an hour on the stand explaining why he didn't testify in his trial in 2012. the hearing is ex three days. sandusky is currently serving 30 to 60 years in prison. it felt like she was on the tower of terror. that is how one passenger described her experience aboard a jetblue flight. the plane hit severe turbulence on its way to sacramento. the aircraft diverted to south

back to sacramento. now there are a lot of unanswered questions about the story we brought you at the top of the newscast regarding the family at the center of this terrible murder of a 13 day old baby. >> a lot of people have been talking about isg topeakina psychologist today about this case to try to gain some perspective into this. newschannel8's jamel lanee is joining us live from pinellas county. a lot of people absolutely stunned when they hear this story on so many levels. what are doctors saying about it though? >> reporter: well, jen this story. the psychologist i spoke to tells me that basically, that this could have been a post partum depression. and as for the six-year-old, they say that it could be a while before they learn what was the insight to why he did what he did. obviously, he will have to go through some counseling.

partum depression could have played a part in this. mothers going through this have signs of depression, basically, disconnected from the family and sometimes not wanting to be around their children. and as for the woman's son, possibly, why he did this, she said well, again, maybe he would have seen something or maybe he had some he was trying to get out. he would have to undergo counseling to have the information given out or given to doctors. but again it was a very sad story all around. this doctor telling me that this is just a sad incident on all around on all parts that will take counseling for this

forecast. i saw lightning as i was coming in this afternoon. >> it has been scattered about. some are wet. some are dry. some rain drops on the camera. lake club in lakewood ranch. that tells the story. eight tenths of an inch of rain. temperature dropped to 77 degrees. likely, we will be a little cooler there. that's the view in venice. one tenth of an inch of rain. nice looking skies county today. at the nissan of venice. you can see the clouds, the fair weather clouds rolling in and darker skies. a few showers kind of rotate in. so this is the way it has been going in the afternoon hours with the scattered thunderstorms in action along the sea breeze. as for our olympic forecast down in rio at 7:00 a.m., 64 degrees. note the celsius temperature here. 22 celsius at noon. 71 degrees with fair conditions at 4:00 p.m., 75 degrees. and staying on the dry side. our weekend weather 93 degrees.

for saturday especially drier air. should stabilize the atmosphere a bit. yes, we will see showers and thunderstorms closer to the west coast on the sea breeze, perhaps not as frequent this weekend. you can call it below normal rain chances. showers and storms north to south. you can see where they are at the moment breezing across the sections of citrus county between hudson and new port richey. those are wrapping up it looks like. moving offshore. maybe a few left. around safety harbor, around the howard franklin, courtney campbell. that drifting to the north. showers across the northern part of hillsborough county. a few showers around lakeland. and then, pretty good thunderstorms that are lifting northward so these will continue through hillsborough, manatee, polk county. we will see if they hold together. but they go all the way from north port to around wauchula. that is your definition of scattered showers and thunderstorms for you. as shown on the radar imagery on a summer afternoon.

mostly sunny skies to start the day. 89 right now in pinellas park. we could use a good shower at most of these locations. lutz is 88 degrees. 98 in dade city. wow. the humidity would give us a heat index above 100 degrees. remember the area of low pressure that drenched us with all the rain? it is doing that in louisiana now. this is over the top stuff. this is 24 hour rainfall totals. that blob, if you look ju that they are getting here. 21 inches of rain. two feet of rain in 24 hours. same area of low pressure. just parked across this region. drawing the gulf moisture. obviously getting a lot of flooding in and around the southern part of louisiana associated with the same low. back in the state of florida, the high resolution model picks up on the precipitation throughout the evening hours. we will keep the chance in there. plenty of warm temperatures continue to drift on the southeasterly flow. and, develop.

i was talking ability the weather at 12:30 this morning and we saw showers on the map. that is possible again for tomorrow morning. it is the rain we see after the showers kind of calm down. mostly cloudy skies. might be a few meteors still left over from the bigger perseid meteor shower last night. lots of sunshine saturday morning. relatively quiet. in the afternoon, rain chances below normal. running at about 30%. we will see plenty of sunshine and hot, hot conditions. er couple of days. 30% saturday and sunday. 40% monday and tuesday. we will stay in the normal range, potentially a little higher that day. close to average. don't forget our max radar defender special coming up this weekend. this is fantastic. we put a lot of work into this to tell you about our brand new s band doppler radar. and, that is what this special is all about to let you know

>> reporter: there are more than 72,000 items. items founded. everything here used to be worth a lot to someone. enough to secure it in a safe deposit box. but something happened and all of these items weren't claimed. the property is then turned over to the state and auctioned off after about 5 years. walter graham is with jeff atwater's office and helps organize the auction. >> we have folks who see your coverage on television. and they want to come and take a look. just out of curiosity. maybe they say hey, maybe we will find a good buy. and we have other folks who are professional buyers that travel around the country. >> reporter: davis has attended florida's auction for three years. and is looking for valuable coins. he drove up from fort lauderdale and plans to spend thousands tomorrow and then sell it all for a profit.

>> toyota is recalling 3,000 older model vehicles for a third time. the recall involves toyota rav 4s from 2006 to 2011 as well as the lexus hs250-h. in 2012, there was a problem with the suspension. in 2013, there was a problem suspension. and now, toyota found that another problem can cause the suspension arm to separate and ultimately the driver to lose control. southwest airlines computer outage will cost the carrier millions of dollars. southwest will end up paying $54 million to the cancellation of more than 2,000 flights last month. a router failure was blamed for the days of delays. an unrelated computer outage this week resulted in the
