they did temporary work. >> reporter: right now crews are doing temporary work to fill the hole. they're putting a fine sand in the ground to fill the hole and pack it in. as for people who live nearby, they were advised of what was going on. many of them were not at home when firefighters were knocking on door this is morning. we also understand it was fast action by these home owners that they're not worried to threats to a mother charged with manslaughter in the death of her 13 day old daughter will spend the night out of jail. investigators believe kathleen steele's 6 year old son billed the newborn while locked inside a car. >> reporter: the question is for how long will she be in custody. the judge left her bond at $100,000. as you mentioned a few hours

out of these doors any time now. >> ms. steele, you're charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child. do you understand the charge? >> reporter: at kathleen steele's first appearance, we learned this is a woman who is not a career criminal. her attorney describes her as a mother who's lost a child. >> i found her to be devastated by this. you can only imagine the shock and what a is. >> reporter: steele was featured in the tlc program i'm pregnant and 55 years old and spoke about life before her three children. >> our dogs are our babies. >> reporter: investigators believe she left her 6 year old son alone with the baby when he beat the baby to death. neighbors are in disbelief wondering how this could happen. >> unbelievable.

this can happen, how a 6 year old can turn that bad that quick. i don't know what was going through his mind. >> reporter: steele faces a single charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child. her son will not be charged. she's going to have to be monitored by the sheriff's office by a gps ankle bracelet. she also cannot have any contact with any children under the age of chip, news channel 8 . there are a lot of unanswered questions about this story. today, judge nay spoke to a psychologist about this case. >> reporter: the story of a 6 year old boy who pummeled his 16 day old sister to death because she was crying is hard to digest. >> we don't know why this little boy did this. we don't know if he'd seen

aggressive by temperament. >> reporter: psychologist wendy rice doesn't know the family or mother, kathleen steele who is charged with aggravated manslaughter. this is scary behavior and franky will need a lot of counseling. >> how scary is the next year of his life going to be and where is he going to live? is he going to get therapy, how is he going to process this. >> reporter: the sheriff says steele was aloof groceries away. mental illness could have been an issue. steele could have been suffering from post-partum depression. >> one in 10 women experience post-partum depression. tonight, pinellas county deputies say a garbage truck driver missed a house and as he backed up, it ran over a man killing him.

not see justin mastery crossing the street behind him. zika has arrived in another bay area county. health officials have identified a person infected with the disease. they tell us that person recently traveled to jamaica and recently developed symptoms. they don't believe zika has made it into the local population though. health officials believe the only locally transmitted cases have occurred in the miami dade area. all of these women have tested negative for zika. he says this fight is personal. >> i think about the impact of zika on pregnant women, it has a very personal context for me as well. we want to make sure we want to do everything possible to make sure women all across the country have the information they need to protect themselves.

on wall street today, the dow retreated a bit and ended the day down 11 points. the s&p was down a point and the nasdaq continued its climb up 4 points. it looks like the ad blockers have won the first battle. facebook announced it's found a way to defeat ad blocking top, you will still see ads. but now, software developers in germany who make ad blocker plus say they've blocked facebook's attempt to block the blockers. facebook will likely try again. a day after we told you about swedish fish oreos, another junk food staple jumped up its game.
