25 burglaries in affluent south tampa neighborhoods and police believe they have caught the crooks. we have reported on a string of burglaries since march and jeff patterson joins us live in a neighborhood where the burglaries took place in finally released for people. >> reporter: good evening. this is not the kind of neighborhood you associate with crime but homes have been hit over and over again. police have great surveillance video and photos of the suspected thieves but it was a solid credit card that helped lead to their the images are perfectly clear. showing suspected burglars knocking on doors and calmly walking through south tampa homes to take expensive jewelry and high-end electronics. >> they took all of our jewelry. >> reporter: elizabeth lives in one of the 25 homes hit them since march. >> it was difficult because a lot of the things were family heirlooms. >> reporter: a team of

the cases. two weeks ago they got a break learning a stolen credit card was used in a store in south florida. >> once we went to the store and they had video it helped identify the subject who was an employee of the store and that made it that much easier. >> reporter: they arrested two men from homestead along with a woman from naples. only one has a tie to tampa. >> one of the suspects had family in town and country. that's the only connection we found why they >> reporter: police say even though they had video the case was difficult to solve because the suspects of from south florida. elizabeth is glad they are in custody. >> i'm glad because i feel bad for the people that were robbed like we were in relieved for the other people because i have friends who are nervous about our house. >> reporter: police tell us the thieves stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in

police recovered some of the stolen items when they arrested the trio and working to return the stolen items they recovered to the victims.>> we understand police believe there is another suspect. do we know anything about that person? >> reporter: police have on the surveillance video images of a fourth person they are working to identify. they are confident since they have arst fourth. >> jeff patterson live in south tampa. a shocking crime in paradise. a 16-year-old boy accused of stabbing his family while bk shinning on siesta key. gust ramgren confessed to stabbing his mother and his 14- year-old brother. the family is visiting from massachusetts. the victims were badly hurt but expected to survive. the 16-year-old in the custody of the department of juvenile justice. temple police looking for

>> reporter: this biologist told me like other animals mosquitoes adapt to this and other chemicals used to control them. >> all animals eventually become resistance because you always have a few survivors. maybe they stay underwater longer in the larval phase. some little thing in their development changes and they are able to survive the immediate poisoning of the environment. >> reporter: in the meantime the fight it is important to remember it doesn't take much. literally just a cap of water is the perfect breeding ground for mosquito larvae so get rid of all the standing water around her home. >> i know you have been looking into this this year so when light of the zika concerns are companies charging more or a little less to get rid of

>> reporter: it does depend on the company. i have seen a lot of companies advertise for a lower rate if you left them, monthly and spray. it depends on the company. what they are doing is trying to remember to fight mosquitoes and remind everyone we have to keep standing water from around our homes. 8 on your side told you about students being turned away the first day of school from citrus ridge academy and da school was built to alleviate overcrowding and it's already at capacity. school administrators met today to, with a plan and we are told portable classrooms will be installed in the next few weeks to accommodate 25 extra students.>> this is a growing area. because of that we see the school that has a capacity for 1400, we had a lot more interest . we try to do what we could to accommodate as many as we can and we are committed to helping

a skimmer busted hillsborough county. they believe this man put card skimmers on two gas pumps summer. they are arrested alberto garcia after evidence linked into the cases. they are working to find out if he's behind other skimming cases. tampa police arrested a teenager from stealing a puppy from the animal shelter. he confessed to taking the puppy and we first showed you the video from the humane society of tampa bay last night at 11:00. you see him stuff the dog in a

the puppy this morning. police got a tip that he was in fact the dog kidnapper. residents and employees of eunice rubber city -- university village took the fight to keep that facility open to the state capital and this morning a dozen got in a van to drive to tallahassee to meet with regulators. the retirement community that's been a target of an 8 on your side investigation could be shut down on september 3. florida's agency for health care administration revoked its license residents are caught in the middle of the struggle and worry they will lose their homes. >> we are being penalized for something we should not be penalized for because we are not doing anything wrong. it's the owner.>> the state post -- revoked the nursing home license saying they skirted the law when they didn't get the approval to take over and they are appealing.
