online at wfla.com and of course the news channel 8 app. also breaking tonight, a fire at the omar mosque from tampa this month has been ruled as an arson. investigators first thought the fire started because of a small refrigerator that was plugged into a faulty electrical cord. well now the state fire marshal says that gasoline is actually to blame. they tested samples taken from the scene and they found gas was used as an a st. petersburg woman is lucky. she stopped to help a disabled driver on the howard franklin bridge when another driver hit her patrol car and then hit another car as well. chip osowski is live for us. this is a story that could have ended very differently. >> reporter: it certainly could have, rob. officer brittany becker was on her way home early this morning

stranded motorist, never treatmenting that -- never dreaming that the act could have taken her life. police telling us kirsten martinez was driving a 2013 mercedes when she hit the police cruiser and two other cars. two of the cars burst into flames. the latest of the string of crashes that should have never happened because drivers are required to move over emergency vehicles and all too often they do not. >> if you are traveling on a highway with multiple lanes, you must move over. >> reporter: they posted this video hoping to educate drivers, but it seems that many don't know about the law or don't care. in may a driver hit a road ranger on the howard franklin. omar duncan suffered serious injuries in that crash. shortly after his supervisor told news channel 8 close calls

services, a bed, and a recovery program. now to the very latest on the zika virus in miami, there is now a new area under a travel warning and it includes south beach. five new cases are now confirmed to have come from the 1.5-square mile area. now despite the new travel warning from the cdc, miami beach officials and business owners are not very worried about this. the mayor admitting today that the presence of the zika virus is not ideal for tourism, however says that they do not expe t impact. >> there is not a panic going on here by any means. there's people going by with a skate border. there's a lot happening. people love miami beach. but we cannot down play this. we must focus on this and eradicate this. if we work together and we get our governor to work with us, we can get this done. >> you've heard the mayor mentioning governor rick scott. he's accusing governor scott of, "playing politics by withholding information from city and county leaders about these new zika cases."

local transmissions of zika in florida is 36. water logged louisiana continuing tonight to try to dig itself out from the devastating floods. i mean you can see it here from the video. thousands of people would pick through what's left of their homes today. others are trying to kind of rebury their relatives whose caskets have been unearthed because of all the flooding. take a look at what we are talking about here happening in 15 cemeteries across seven parishes in louisiana. maybe even more really. officials don't know yet how many graves and tubes have been damaged. by the way president obama will visit the devastated area on tuesday. and now to a different problem in california, firefighters there are very optimistic that they are going to make more progress today against this very massive wildfire. the blue cut fire has burned through several square miles, but now 80% contained, which is great news. california's forestry department says that firefighters are extremely

a few of our showers and storms make their way on through the area. those came through pretty quickly with the on shore flow. and then it started to push inland with this prevailing easterly wind, westerly wind, excuse me working on through the day today. we've got a source issue here, still showing you the camera. rpm forecast model shows that the showers and storms are wrapping up as we head on through the second part of the day today. there we go. and as we head on evening hours, that wraps up. mostly clear skies through the overnight hours. a quiet start to their sunday. that's when we'll see some sunshine. you can't rule out a stray shower with that flow. early part of the day tomorrow and then into the afternoon hours is when we're going to see the limited coverage of the showers and storms pushing inland, only expecting the isolated storms about a 20% rain chance through the second half of the weekend. also for monday just about a 20% rain chance. the plume of moisture will move thrown tuesday when we will see

through the second part of the workweek. early tomorrow morning, some isolated storms around by lunchtime. your high temperatures are tomorrow in the afternoon. back in action this evening for our second pre-season game up in jacksonville. partly cloudy skies. just a stray storm that will be expected with the temperatures in the mid-80s. tropics are getting busy at this time of the year. we do have a fiona tropical storm that is weakening likely into a depres tomorrow. 60% chance of developing into a tropical system. yet another tropical wave coming off africa. that is a 70% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next five days. here is fiona heading up towards bermuda weakening over the next few days. only limited concern with that, just some rain. for bermuda, 99 in eldo where the forecast models will take the lesser areas, perhaps into the caribbean. that's something we'll watch very closely over the next five to ten days or so.
