and republican presidential knowledge knee donald trump speaks at the florida state fairgrounds. >> this is in front of thousands of people. take a look at the crowd. candace is there and joins us life with the very latest. what was trump's message to voters today? >> reporter: yeah, good evening. trump talked about several things today. touching on everything from crime to trade. the crowd just cleared out of the entertainment center here at the florida state fairgrounds. it was packed here just moments but trump spent plenty of time appealing to many different groups of voters focusing on black and hispanic voters. >> and we just had a great poll come out from florida university just about a half an hour ago that we're leading. >> reporter: what better way to get supporters fired up than trump touting a poll from florida atlantic showing him up by 2%. and taking a softer tone on immigration wasn't heard today.

right now we are tracking the tropics with the meteorologist. we do have one out there of concern? >> we have a couple of areas that we are watching. so let's take a look at what we are watching. we are still watching what is tropical storm gaston. that's in the eastern atlantic. invest 99-l has a chance of developing. this is the area we're watching a little bit more closely. so here's tropical storm gaston. this could become a hurricane as we head that this weekend. and it is going to stay out at impacting florida or really the u.s. for that matter. but the area that we are watching more closely, you can see this area invest 99-l. hurricane hunters were out investigating this area today. but they didn't find it organized enough to be classified as an official tropical system. you can see our models of this system bringing it towards the baemz has we head into the end of this week. so for that much we're fairly

to diverge. we're going to have still watch it very closely. it's not even a named system yet or even a tropical depression. but we're keeping a close eye on it. the hunter were out there today investigating it. and we don't have that central closed circulation. that's why they're not able to name it. but they did find some peak wind gusts up to 63 miles per hour within this disturbance. you can see it near puerto rico. we'll keep an eye the tropics and have a full look at forecast coming up in a few minutes. . governor rick scott was back in the bay area today talking about the zika virus. scott announced yesterday there is now one case of nontravel-related zika in our backyard, in pinellas county. new channel 8 reports getting specific information on that one case isn't easy. >> reporter: the hurricane restaurant in st. pete beach

information about the zika virus because they think information in this case is important. rick is one of the owners of the hurricane. and downloaded info about the zika virus from the cdc website to put up for customers. >> more information is better so we can have a better understanding. >> reporter: governor rick scott has appeared at several roundtables in the bay area talking about the zika virus. but will not give out the location of the latest case even when news channel 8 morning anchor tried to pin him down. >> it's a very large county. the a -- at what point do you expect us to find out. >> reporter: scott never good give the location. a congress thinks that's a mistake. >> i don't think it's good enough to announce one case and not provide additional information. >> reporter: the state is not telling us where this case of zika virus is in pinellas

probably been scammed. the tech operator sounded suspicious. so we called. can you tell me what kind of services you provide? >> yeah, we provide technical support for all the devices. >> reporter: on the line someone to be claiming john in the u.s. >> are your services legitimate or is this just a big scam. >> legitimate. >> reporter: it turns out it is a scam. john wasn't in the u.s. he was in india. his name isn't john. we know because we tracked down the owner of the phone. he's here in maryland. he apologized to us and he claimed unethical employees in india have been pushing pop-up ads to lure unsuspecting people like diane. federal investigators say it's a growing scam and they've got recordings. >> i see something that says "warning". >> your computer is also one of those computers which has been detected with those online infections. >> a lot of consumers don't know if they're being scammed or not. they're told something is wrong

fixed. >> reporter: the expert advice, be skeptical of computer pop-ups or telephone calls warning you've been hacked. never provide credit card or personal information. and only use tech experts from companies you know. after we tracked down the tech company diane called, the owner said he's closing the business. the website is now dark, the toll free number disconnected. just one overseas scammer off-line for now. nbc news, all right. joining us now for the weather, is julie phillips. >> we've got our typical afternoon thunderstorms around as well today. >> you certainly have our attention. >> yes. >> we'll be paying attention the next few days. >> really this time of year we is see a lot of storms develop. entering into the peak of hurricane season. 85 degrees right now in land of lakes. winds fairly light. at 9:00 p.m.

mostly dry conditions. all of the rain should have come to an end. when you wake up tomorrow morning, it should be a dry start to the day. warm start as well with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. and then as we head into the afternoon hours, we'll top out in the low to mid-90s again bringing back in that typical summer afternoon rain chance of about 40%. at this point, the activity is a little bit more isolated than we saw before. we've got a pretty strong northeasterly flow and not a lot -- that will and storms to start up. tracking some heavy showers and storms pushing off towards the south and west. that's been the direction of all of today's storms so far. it's 86 still in plant city. 85? zer hills. coming in at 91 in crystal river. 83 in saint peter where we have had some recent nearby rain. so for the rest of this evening, any rain is going to wrap up. tomorrow, some clouds around.

developing moving from northeast to southwest again. and on friday morning, a very similar story. the pattern continues. mid to upper 70s in the morning and then by the afternoon hours, about a 40% chance of rain. so out in the tropics, here's what we're watching. invest 99-l of, this is the only system that could potentially impact florida. as it moves off to the north and west, it's generally moving in the direction of the bahamas. but then our models do start to diverge. that's where we return into a lot of uncertainty. a few of them bringing east coast of florida. some of them bring it across south florida and into the gulf. so we have to watch this system very closely over the next couple of days. at this point, it does have an 80% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. for us, though the next few days just expect your typical, summertime afternoon storms. about a 40% of chance of rain each afternoon. guys. >> thanks. well there is a certain

are bringing it towards the bahamas. we'll keep a close eye on this area. but then our models really start to diverge anywhere from moving through south florida into the gulf or moving up the east coast. so impacts across the entire u.s. could be quite different at this point and models really kind of flip flopping back and forth. so we have to keep a close eye on it. about an 80% chance of it developing in the gulf waters, especially are incredibly warm at this point. so we'll have 0 to keep a very also for the wind shear as it's concerned, you can see as you look in the red this is an area that is favorable for development for this system. you can see as it moves toward the red over towards the bahamas. out in the gulf. a little more favorable than heading up the east coast. as we end into the end of this weekend. we'll keep a close eye on things. tomorrow morning, starting off the day warm. mid to upper 70s as we head into tomorrow afternoon, we'll top
