left around here, wind sheer as well limited the growth from this system. as you see on the water vapor imagery that red color around and south of nassau is dry air high above in the atmosphere. i think that's gotten into the storm especially into the western side helping to keep it fairly weak with wind sheer. 30 mile-per-hour winds says the gusts we've been seeing from the system and you can see that forecast from the spaghetti models moves it directly west. that's been the trend throughout the day. it will likely be very slow to it may help spread some rain our way possibly into the early part of next week. >> we'll check back in with you in a little bit. meantime stormy weather in sarasota county killed a woman. lightning struck her in a park inside a gazebo at mlk park on coconut avenue. the woman was homeless and a familiar face in this park and will be missed by those around there. we're still checking with

some breaking news, a bad crash in st. petersburg has traffic on mlk street and 40th avenue at a standstill. we're told the car flipped over knocking down a power pole. that pole caught a nearby palm tree on fire. the driver got out, but the passenger was trapped a while. once the electricity was cut she was able to safely climb out and everyone is expected to be okay. new tonight some bay area parents are outraged. they believe the man who runs plato academy in largo is lying to them about a issue in several middle school classrooms. tonight they let him have it during a verbal throwdown in the school cafeteria. 8 on your side first reported about mold concerns at the charter school and many parents believe the ceo is behind a large scale coverup. peter bernard is live in largo and you watched as parents really skewered this guy. >> reporter: heated, it was

any semblance of any civility today. tonight was a knockdown drag out throwdown as you said of the ceo here chris chris christopoulos. >> we're now spreading the mold by bringing all those mold spores into this room. >> reporter: mad about mold, dozens of parents grilled the ceo of the parent company about sick pointing the finger at steve christopoulos. >> it's not about you. it's not about the school. it's about the kids! right, it's about the kids. >> and the teachers that teach our kids. >> reporter: before the meeting several parents showed me the middle school classrooms and pointed out what they believe is mold near a vent, wet floors where tiles are coming up and places where they claim quick clean-up and paint is hiding the lurking menace.

>> reporter: well, the folks here at one blood had already been screening for zika, so really this is nothing new for them, all this as officials want to make sure there's enough safe blood on hand for all those who need a transfusion. they already test for hiv, hepatitis, west nile and now zika. >> these are very proactive precautionary measures put in place. >> reporter: dr. rita reich of one blood wasn't ri the announcement. blood centers in miami and ft. lauderdale were told to stop accepting donations till screenings could begin. now there's at least 42 homegrown zika cases in three counties. friday in miami a new mother who contracted the zika virus while pregnant with her 2-month- old baby girl, no signs of zika, at least not yet. >> she's changing the paradigm of the way we think about the disease. >> reporter: governor scott said he'll travel to washington

concern. if you see a property that has issues, you are urged to give the city a call. you can remain anonymous. in central italy more than 900 aftershocks are making the work of finding survivors of a devastating earthquake even more difficult. one of those strong aftershocks damaged two key access roads into quake stricken amatrice threatening to isolate the small hilltop time. they keep digging even though the chances survivors are alive. 267 people are confirmed dead. ryan lochte scored a forgiving endorsement with cough drop company pine brothers after losing several high profile deals in the wake of his rio robbery scandal. lochte responded to the endorsement on twitter thanking them for the confidence saying he's looking forward to making pine brothers proud. we are less than 10 minutes away from the friday night

lakeland. across the southeast high pressure generally dominating, but deep atmospheric moisture builds in from the south. combined with heating we'll probably see better rain chances and still some rain this hour port charlotte to ft. myers. this is the moisture forecast, mid-and upper levels of the atmosphere, the bright green color indicating higher moisture levels building from the tropics. monday and tuesday is why we're starting to raise these rain chances combined with the that's 99l, an area of investigation. invest is what they call it. the center of circulation is probably right about there if you can detect it. the thunderstorms are generally on the eastern side indicating wind sheer and dry air. we looked at this a couple minutes ago. the trend on the spaghetti models was farther west today which is why we kind of speculate if this gets into the gulf of mexico under lower wind sheer, warmer sea surface temperatures, we could
