a look at where the funding fight is now. i'm jennifer leigh. >> i'm keith cate. thank you for joining us tonight. busted. three polk county burglary suspects tied themselves to their crime spree when a victim spotted them. not only driving his car, but, wearing his clothes. newschannel8's melissa marino talked to that victim. she talked about the role social media played in identifying the three suspects. >> reporter: good evening. these bold burglars stole a car and this one over here across the street. they were quick to use the stolen items and got themselves busted. >> when we saw one of those oh my gosh moments. >> reporter: this man who didn't want to be identified knew the moment he saw the post on crime stopper's facebook page. the burglary suspects they needed help finding were driving his car, stolen days before. >> he had some damage to it. so, i knew what it was right away. that was my vehicle. >> reporter: if he had any

work clothes including his beanie with his name tag still on it. >> it unmistakable. >> reporter: the men targeted two nearby neighborhoods as well. the sunset vista and mission hills community in lakeland. video from one of the homes shows the men checking for unlocked cars. they stole guns, cash, and more. they were later caught on camera using a victim's credit card at a gas station. investigators posted the photos on facebook and the tips started rolling in. >> like ... you're on camera. that is what burglars need to understand. you can't escape the camera. >> reporter: we are told the fathers of two of the suspects turned them in. a judge denied bond for devonte jefferson and jamie sanders. they are still looking for andrew martin, the third suspect. he has his car back and some of the belongings inside. he says he is very thankful for

newschannel8. the search is on for the man who attacked and robbed a 16-year-old bradenton girl walking to her school bus stop this morning. manatee county deputies say at 6:00 a.m., the man approached the girl at 20th east and 50th avenue drive east. the man pulled the girl's backpack and knocked her to the ground and tried to assault her. as a car approached, he took her phone and ran off. >> a lot of teenagers my age think they are invincible. th this can happen. >> deputies will be assigned to the bust stop the rest of the week. the suspect we are told is five foot seven. skinny, 25 years old. he was last seen wearing jeans and a dark shirt. call manatee county deputies. it is is a school under fire for issues of mold. 8 on your side has been following the saga of the plato academy in largo for weeks now. the founder of the school says there is mold in the school,

additional legislation tied to them. now, both parties accuse the other of playing politics so this group in florida says they will work together because a bill free of any provisions will be passed. senator bill nelson, a democrat, called for the clean bill. >> zika doesn't have anything to do with a confederate flag and zika doesn't have anything to do with defunding planned parenthood. >> reporter: senator nelson provisions added to a previous failed zika bill. the small group of florida leader ifs both sides want a bill that will pass and soon. and there appears to be one not to the tune of $9.1 million that president obama and democrats wanted but now a $1.1 billion free of any provisions. >> this should not be a political problem. this should be a healthcare problem. and a life problem. and, not a political problem on capitol hill. >> reporter: our governor rick

86 lakeland. and 82 in arcadi ah. you can see the developing showers, it is really as we look off the east coast, the counterclock wise rotation like you see with a typical tropical system. as a matter of fact, the hurricane center upgraded the potential for development with this system today. this tropical wave. most of the rain on the moisture, taking advantage of the high amounts of moisture in our atmosphere and the heating of the day. that helped to kick off some of the shower activity. ian is out there. 45 miles an hour winds will stay out there. not in effect for land. but, in the tropics we have eastern on the satellite imagery. this one uz upgraded to a 40% chance of development over a five day period. it will likely wander generally to the northwest. possibly up into the southern part of georgia with rain. another area we will watch over

we have no choice. >> reporter: with the city refusing to pay for more time in a hotel, they had to come home. >> thank god my husband knows what he is doing. i'm thinking are these live wire ins they are. >> reporter: clearly, this house is not ready. the city hired contractors to rip apart the house and clean up. but now, there is no kitchen. this is their attempt to make due. >> this is how they left me. >> reporter: a toilet is in the bathtub, and the couple is using this cloth to mi the sewage fumes. i went to the city to find out who thought this was acceptable. >> so they feel the city has just forgotten them. can you respond to that? >> well, i'm sorry to hear that, that is unfortunate to hear that, i know the city is working very diligently to help them resolve the situation. >> reporter: city spokesman brandon graham couldn't answer all of my questions. and explained he would have to check with the city's legal department. >> to them, it is just

would make them live in these conditions. >> right. and i don't know who is making the decisions on where they live. are those completely being made by the homeowner or is there a component of that, that is driven by some other force, i don't know. >> reporter: he e-mailed me back this afternoon with more information. he says the city planned to move this couple back into the house when it was safe. that timetable on paper was september 9. he added the restoration process has changed now that the homeowners are prepresented a spokes people like brandon says the city is working very diligently on this, but what you showed is not progress. and who decided it was safe to go back inside this house? >> reporter: i asked him that. he has not seen all of this. he is just trying to get the information for us. he said he didn't know who determined that it was safe. but clearly, it doesn't look like it when you see the wires. i'm just really happy there are no children living in that house. i certainly wouldn't want to be
