>> a couple grand theft charges and possession of methamphetamine and other drug parra fur nail ya, so no stranger to the law. today the sheriff's office is still looking for the man they say tried to run down one of their own last night. this is the second time in the past few days a suspect has tried to run down a local law enforcement officer. rod carter is live at sheriff's office with more on this disturbing trend. rod. >> reporter: it is a very disturbing trend indeed. it is not just the hillsboro county sheriff's office. the tampa police department had the same thing occur on saturday night. it is a sad reality happening all across this country. >> take a look at this traumatic video of a transients who drove a car into two police officers outside of a phoenix gas station.

and then there is this. here at home, a suspect tries to run over a deputy near plant city. that deputy fired at the suspect who then took off running. >> the veteran, he tells me cars as weapons at the hands of criminals is something he has to think about. >> and especially me being on the traffic unit forties trick 2, we a day, so it is a very real danger to us. >> according to the fbi last year three officers killed in the line of duty died after being intentionally hit by a car. the year before that, five died that way. >> folks are turning vehicles into weapons. he said it is difficult to train their deputies for things like this. >> we provide some training but it is sometimes impossible to

we're seeing the movement of these showers. stronger showers there moving off to the northeast the a few showers across the central portion of the area, too. some areas around sun city center. then they are lifting to the northeast. we have a south easterly flow. mugginess forecast, very high, in the oppressive category. yesterday we saw dewpoints in the 80 degrees range which is very high but ease off a little bit, but we're not there yet. if you're waiting for the cold front, it comes through about the second or third wick of october and we're not there yet. 77 degrees at 7:00 a.m. 89. 88 in temple terrace. 82 in brandon. 81 lakeland. 82 sarasota.
